Methods: Forty patients received intravenous anesthesia were randomly and evenly divided into treatment group and control group. At the termination of anesthesia, Shuigou (GV 26) was needled for patients in treatment group, in control group patients aroused spontaneously. Recovery degrees of every patient were assessed by using modified Robertzon Scoring Scale. Results: Results showed that from the 6^th min on, the scores of treatment group were significantly bigger than those of control group (6 min: 5.3±0.42 vs 3.2±0.33, P〈0.05; 15 min: 13.7±0.32 vs 8.23±0.77, P〈0.01), suggesting that the recovery of the patient's consciousness of treatment group was markedly quicker than that of control group, Conclusion:Puncturing Shuigou (GV 26) can hasten the patient's arousal from postoperative anesthesia and thus may be used as an effective remedy for resisting the aftereffects of intravenous anesthetics.展开更多

Through years' clinical practice, the author of the present paper discusses the functions of the two aspects in every stage of acupuncture treatment, including before acupuncture, during needle insertion, during retention and withdrawal of the needle. The purpose of this paper is to explain the clinical significance of treating and reserving vitality and arouse many acupuncture doctors'attention.展开更多

Methods: A total of 100 patients were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group, 50 cases in each. Patients in the treatment group received point-toward-point acupuncture with long needle combined with herbs iontophoresis treatment; while those in the control group were only treated by point-toward-point acupuncture with long needle. Clinical efficacies of the two groups were compared after treatment. Results: The total effective rate was 92.0% in the treatment group, versus 82.0% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P〈O.05). Conclusion: The point-toward-point acupuncture with long needle combined with herbs iontophoresis treatment for knee osteoarthritis has a significant effect.展开更多

Methods: A total of 212 patients with acute lumbar sprain were randomized into two groups. There were 106 subjects in the observation group who were treated with puncturing Houxi (SI 3) toward Hegu (LI 4) plus lumbar movement; the other 106 patients in the control group were treated with puncturing Houxi (SI 3) toward Hegu (LI 4) alone. Therapeutic efficacy was evaluated after 2 treatment courses. Results: The total effective rate was 95.3% in the observation group versus 88.7% in the control group, and the difference was statistically insignificant between the two groups (P〉O.05). However, in comparing the treatment times for achieving recovery and effectiveness, differences between the two groups were statistically significant (both P〈O.05), indicating that integrated use of acupuncture and exercise is faster in realizing therapeutic effectiveness. Conclusion: By selecting fewer acupoints, puncturing Houxi (Sl 3) toward Hegu (LI 4) is effective in treating acute lumbar sprain, and with the help of lumbar movement, it can achieve even better treatment effect.展开更多

Methods: Sixty-eight eligible subjects with post-stoke upper limb dysfunction were randomized into 2 groups by the random number table, 34 in each group, to respectively receive relaxing needling method or ordinary needling method in addition to rehabilitation training for 2 months. FugI-Meyer assessment of upper limb motor function, neurological defect score, and clinical efficacies were observed and compared. Results: The two groups both showed effects. The total effective rate in the relaxing needling group was 93.8% versus 84.9% in the ordinary needling group, and the difference was statistically significant (P〈0.05). The relaxing needling group was better than the ordinary needling group in improving the motor function of upper limb and neurological defect (P〈0.05). Conclusion: Relaxing needling plus rehabilitation training can significantly improve the post-stroke motor dysfunction of upper limb, better than ordinary needling plus rehabilitation training.展开更多
