However,LPP is based on the neighborhood graph artificially constructed from the original data, and the performance of LPP relies on how well the nearest neighbor criterion work in the original space. To address this issue,a novel DR algorithm, called the self-dependent LPP (sdLPP) is proposed. And it is based on the fact that the nearest neighbor criterion usually achieves better performance in LPP transformed space than that in the original space. Firstly,LPP is performed based on the typical neighborhood graph; then,a new neighborhood graph is constructed in LPP transformed space and repeats LPP. Furthermore,a new criterion, called the improved Laplacian score,is developed as an empirical reference for the discriminative power and the iterative termination. Finally, the feasibility and the effectiveness of the method are verified by several publicly available UCI and face data sets with promising results.展开更多

Nevertheless, only the approximate Jones matrix of practical Faraday rotators has been presented by now. Based on the theory of polarized light, this paper presents the accurate Jones matrix of practical Faraday rotators. In addition, an experiment has been carried out to verify the validity of the accurate Jones matrix. This matrix accurately describes the optical characteristics of practical Faraday rotators, including rotation, loss and depolarization of the polarized light. The accurate Jones matrix can be used to obtain the accurate results for the practical Faraday rotator to transform the polarized light, which paves the way for the accurate analysis and calculation of practical Faraday rotators in relevant engineering applications.展开更多

Some crystal samples are reduced in Li 2CO 3 powder at 500 ℃ for 24 hours or oxidized for 10 hours at 1100 ℃ in Nb 2O 5 powder. Compared with As-grown Mg:Mn:Fe:LiNbO 3, the absorption edge in UV-Vis. absorption spectrum of the oxidized sample and the reduced shifts to the violet and the red, respectively. Reduction increases the absorption of crystals in visible light region. In two-wave coupling experiments, the writing time, maximum diffraction efficiency and the erasure time of crystal samples in the same conditions are determined. The results indicate that oxidation and reduction disposing has great effect on the holographic recording properties of these crystals. The reduced crystal exhibits the fastest response time of 160 s among the crystal series. The mechanism of post-disposing effect on the holographic recording properties of Mg:Mn:Fe:LiNbO 3 crystals are investigated.展开更多

In this paper, the radar cross sections(RCS) of a pre-assumed generic missile model is computed with multilevel fast multi-pole algorithm(MLFMA), while the RCS of ocean surface is computed by a more reduced form of the fractional Weierstrass scattering model proposed here. At last, the computed RCS of missile model is compared with that of sea surface, and then the comparisons of missile-to-ocean RCS ratios of different incident angles, incident frequencies, and polarization patterns are also presented. The discussion and comparisons of RCS of the missile and ocean surface can help us to plan and design a radar system in the application of detection of a missile target or other analogous weaker targets in the strong sea clutter background.展开更多

Rectangular harmonic analysis (RHA) is proposed for regional gravity field modeling in this paper. By solving the Laplace's equation of gravitational potential in local Cartesian coordinate system, the rectangular harmonic expansions of disturbing potential, gravity anomaly, gravity disturbance, geoid undulation and deflection of the vertical are derived, and so are the formula for signal degree variance and error degree variance of the rectangular harmonic coefficients (RHC). We also present the mathematical model and detailed algorithm for the solution of RHC using RHA from gravity observations. In order to reduce the edge effects caused by periodic continuation in RHA, we propose the strategy of extending the size of computation domain. The RHA-based modeling method is validated by conducting numerical experiments based on simulated ground and airborne gravity data that are generated from geopotential model EGM2008 and contaminated by Gauss white noise with standard deviation of 2 mGal. The accuracy of the 2.5'×2.5' geoid undulations computed from ground and airborne gravity data is 1 and 1.4 cm, respectively. The standard error of the gravity disturbances that downward continued from the flight height of 4 km to the geoid is only 3.1 reGal. Numerical results confirm that RHA is able to provide a reliable and accurate regional gravity field model, which may be a new option for the representation of the fine structure of regional gravity field.展开更多

The evolution of polarization in fibers is simulated by the Jones matrix. To verify this theoretical model, a magneto-optical system is built to measure the input azimuth, output azimuth and ellipticity. The Faraday rotation of spun fibers with different pitches is measured. The Verdet constant increases, while the linear birefringence decreases as the pitch becomes smaller. For spun fibers with 1 mm pitch, the Verdet constant can be enhanced by about 20.7% at 660 nm, compared with that of the unspun fiber. The results indicate that smaller linear birefringence can provide more accurate Faraday rotation measurement.展开更多
