少数民族法语教育中存在的问题及其对策

在现阶段,我国少数民族在学习法语和进行法语教学的时候,因受到现有教学机制、教学模式以及教材内容上的一些制约,依然存在着许多的问题和局限性。少数民族在法语教学的整个过程当中,运用并非母语传授课文,最终使得学生在对其教学内容理解上的难度有所增加,且因教材内容匮乏而加大,与日常实际运用过程产生脱节的严重问题。负责法语教学的教师,必须在教学的整个过程当中,尽量用学生能够理解的言语展开教学,可以适当地在原有的教材内容上,引用一些真实的材料,用作补充,与此同时,参照欧洲统一语言参考标准按照预期的语言目标去对教材进行合理的选择。希望通过文章的分析,能够在今后的工作中,给行业内的相关工作人士提供一定的帮助或者是借鉴作用。

Using critical thinking activities as tools to integrate language skills

Every day communication is an event in which there is an interactional relationship between interlocutors. This interaction needs whole language in which language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing; associated knowledge of vocabulary, meaning, syntax, etc.; and also, thinking skills are interwoven. This means that language should be kept whole and ＂if language isn＇t kept whole, it isn＇t language anymore＂ （Rigg, 1991, p. 522, cited in Richards ＆ Rodgers, 2001, p. 109）. In English as a Second Language/English Foreign Language （ESL/EFL） learning settings, improvement in one skill can affect the development of other skills. A particular course may highlight certain skills, but if the teacher is creative or specific tasks and problems are used in language learning settings, learners are provided with the opportunity to improve multiple, integrated skills. This paper aims at elaborating on critical thinking approach to language learning and introducing practical ideas for helping teachers to integrate language and thinking skills. It introduces 3 critical thinking activities （Dialogue journals, reading logs and literacy portfolios）, and also discusses how implementing them can serves as a way to integrate language skills. It also maintains that engaging learners in these activities helps them use authentic materials and solve problems of their own interest that in turn has a positive effect on student＇s motivation.

Syntax Development in Language Education of Children Who Are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing by Usage of Modem Technology

The aim of the study was to determine the development of syntax in language development of children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, who are taught to new dynamic linguistic features with the help of computers. The sample consisted of 70 children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, aged 7-17 years. To assess language development were applied following variables： total number of words used, the total number of different words used, the correct and incorrect statements （sentences） of the respondents. We calculated the basic statistical parameters on which it was found that the experimental program computer teaching children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing gave better results in the development of syntax. Also, canonical discriminate analysis revealed a statistically significant difference in the applied variables between the control and experimental groups the level of statistical significance ofp = 0.000. The results showed a significant improvement of the experimental group and that dynamic computer programming activities, which were challenged participants of the experimental group, contribute to a better linguistic competence of children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.

Understanding class silence in China： Approach from the perspective of intercultural study

Chinese students tend to keep silent in class and bear in mind what has been taught passively rather than expressing their ideas actively like westem students, which concems Chinese teachers deeply because of the unsatisfactory class production. From the perspectives of ＂face＂ in Politeness Principle on the basis of cultural dimensions, this paper mainly focuses on class silence with a comparison between different cultures in the east and west, explores the true reasons for its happening in China and constructs a reference research for follow-up studies.

On the treason in English film title translation

Treason is the objective and inevitable phenomenon in film title translation. With the aid of functional theory, the authors attempt to have a thorough study on the treason in film title translation from four aspects： the types, the manifestations, the causes and the effects, in the purpose of improving the quality of film title translation, and arousing the academic attention on the inevitable phenomenon, treason, which was often regarded as the taboo in translation.

Psychological motives of code switching

Code switching is an important research topic in a selection of academic fields including sociology, psychology and linguistics. Generally speaking, code switching, a common phenomenon in language contact, permeates bilingual and multilingual society. It refers to circumstances in which a speaker uses two or more than two languages. This paper is intended to present an overall review of studies on code switching, focusing on motive. Code switching combines the social situation with the linguistic situation, in contrast to the different cultures in the speaker＇s cognitive structure. It has social functions that can change the social situation, which in turn sets up a new one. In conversation, code switching also reflects the speaker＇s psychological state and his/her attitude towards a certain language or languages. This paper will focus on the analysis of socio-psychological factors which exert strong influences upon code switching.

On multi-role effects of teachers in College English teaching

The paper first introduces the multi-roles of College English teachers, from the knowledge instillers to the designers and organizers of classroom activities, the participants of learning English, information counselors and emotional supporters, and the models of morality. Based on this, the paper makes a detailed analysis of the multi-role effects which can not only stimulate students＇ creativity and improve their self-learning ability, but also adapt to the reform of College English teaching.

Effective combination of learning styles and college English teaching

Students preferentially take in and process information in different ways, and teaching methods also should vary accordingly. How much a student can learn is also determined by the compatibility of the student＇s learning styles and the teacher＇s teaching styles. It is important for teachers to know their learners＇ preferred learning styles because this knowledge will help teachers to plan their lessons to match or adapt their teaching and to provide the most appropriate activities to suit a particular learner group.

Language Education in India： Dialoging English and Vernacular Languages and Literatures

Post independence the challenge before educators and policy-makers was to ensure that the diverse socio-cultural, linguistic and economic backgrounds of India＇s children are respected and represented in the school curriculum. The need for a comprehensive plan to devise a national system of education was therefore felt. The same mandate holds relevance in contemporary India as many languages are becoming endangered, while some have actually become extint despite claims of multilingualism and maintenance. The loss of a language is equivalent to the erasure of an entire culture itself. This is where schools can play a critical role in preservation and perpetuation by relating the home language to the school language of learners. The integration of one or more language can lead to progressive understanding and use of another language without losing the former. The result would be maintenance of languages in a complementary model. It is also important that in this scheme English is not contextualized in a western ambience, but is taught through a contextually rich local perspective because English is no longer a colonial language per se but a global language in a multilingual milieu. It must therefore find place among local and vernacular languages.

A content analysis related to the cross-cultural/intercultural elements used in EFL coursebooks

This study aimed to examine some coursebooks of English as a Foreign Language （EFL） to see whether they involve any cross-cultural topics belonging to different cultures from different countries in the world. Assuming that EFL coursebooks written after the communicative movements in foreign language teaching and learning in the 1970s and the 1980s would have a plenty of cross-cultural elements, it was expected to see these coursebooks would also have a lot of cross-cultural elements, especially regarding their publication dates. This study aimed to investigate to what extent teaching materials used in EFL setting involve intercultural elements. Accordingly, 5 coursebooks were evaluated, and topics and number of cross-cultural elements were presented. The coursebooks used in the study were published in 1998, 1999, 1999, 2001 and 2006 namely. However, as the results displayed, the frequency of cross-cultural elements were not mutually related to their publication dates. The distribution and frequency of cross-cultural elements were not balanced with the dates chronologically.

Viewing English Teaching and Test Method from a Brand-new Perspective

There has been close relationship between English test method and teaching method. When we make great efforts to reform the English teaching method we should improve the English test method. In this way, we can increase the test efficiency, trustiness, English teaching quality and evaluation function, to transform the teaching from examination-oriented education into quality education.

Interculturality and Socio-Linguistic Identity in the Learning of English and Spanish in Mexico

In the current field of action of the pedagogy of languages, efficient, inclusive and dynamic teaching methods are needed; just this work will present the intercultural method through didactic evidences （pedagogical sequences） that have proved their functionality in the teaching rooms of the English in a Spanish-speaking context, as is Mexico. Without forgetting that interculturality is defined according to Cassany （2016） as an ideological current that is that each language of the world is a representative tool at the service of a culture and that said culture in a society is a mental and attitudinal representation to the world where a certain society is based. Then interculturality seeks to develop intercultural skills in the users of languages （Anglo-Hispanic）.

On learner-centered education

The issue learner-centered education has always been a hot issue ever since it was created. In this essay, the author puts forward three relevant research questions： Historical development of learner-centered education, the effect of the existing pedagogies on learner-centered education and the concerns from different players relating to this issue.

Research on the design of the multimedia intelligence teaching system based on the oral English curriculum

Applying the multimedia technology to the English teaching is an innovation for the English teaching methods and means, because the traditional teaching cannot solve the problems of listening and speaking locally, but the multimedia teaching can well solve this problem, and can also improve the students＇ English comprehensive abilities. It is a question of the teaching skills whether the teachers can adroitly, effectively and skillfully adopt the advanced teaching methods to implement the teaching.

The Role of Explicit Grammar in Language Teaching

The debate on grammar in second language acquisition： past, present, and future, is a well written summary of both explicit and implicit grammar instruction in second language acquisition from past to present and with future projections. The thesis holds that explicit grammar instruction plays a very important role in foreign language learning and teaching and argues that English education in China should lay emphasis on how to assist students＇ grammar internalization and promote the conversion from explicit learning to implicit learning.

COMPARISON OF EFL TEACHING IN AMERICA AND IN CHINA—A REFLECTION OF ENGLISH TEACHING IN CHINA

对于英语课堂教学,我们关注较多的是采用各种实验分析方法来证实教学方法与假设的可行性。而本文则是依据于在美近距离观察美国课堂的教育模式,采访调查课堂教学活动所获的信息,结合笔者在中国从事英语教学的经验,比较分析了在中美不同教学文化环境下,在教育学理念,教与学的方法与策略等方面的差异,同时探讨了这些差异的相关原因。通过比较分析,旨在思索拓宽中国英语教学改革的路子,寻求借鉴国外教学经验对中国英语教学的有效成分。文章的最后部分涵盖了我国大学英语教学改革的形势和任务以及我校的教改成果,并阐明了对改革的深入的期待。
