Four onedimensional heat transfer models are established for the asphalt mixtures outside the heating range, which are simplified into four half-infinite solids. The intensity of the radiation electric field is calculated through experiment by using heating water loads. It is suggested that the mathematical model of boundary conditions can be established in two ways, which are theoretical deduction and experimental reverse. The actual temperature field is achieved by fitting temperatures of different positions collected in the heating experiment. The simulant temperature field, which is solved with the Matlab PDE toolbox, is in good agreement with the actual temperature field. The results indicate that the proposed models have high precision and can be directly used to calculate the temperature distribution of asphalt pavements.展开更多

The respective findings indicate similar functional properties: it is an inclination compass that works only within a functional window around the ambient magnetic field intensity; it tends to be lateralized in favor of the fight eye, and it is wavelength-dependent, requiring light from the short-wavelength range of the spectrum. The underlying physical mechanisms have been identified as radical pair processes, spin-chemical reactions in specialized photopigments. The iron-based receptors in the upper beak do not seem to be involved. The existence of the same type of magnetic compass in only very distantly related bird species suggests that it may have been present already in the common ancestors of all modem birds, where it evolved as an all-purpose compass mechanism for orientation within the home range [Current Zoology 56 (3): 265-276, 2010].展开更多

The LWS uses the electric field intensity at the ground as a parameter to warn the possibility of lightning strikes. A planar shutter type electric field mill (EFM) with a rotating vane is studied to measure the electric field. From a calibration experiment, the sensitivity of the EFM was adjusted to 0.15 V/kV/m, and this covers the ranges from 200 V/m to 20 kV/m. Magnetic field waveform is detected by a crossed loop coil and an integral amplifier. Frequency bandwidth of the circuit ranges from 5 kHz to 1.2 MHz. The polarity of lightning discharges is discriminated by electric field component. After fixing the polarity, we can calculate the direction and distance of lightning discharge by the peak and the zero cross time of the detected magnetic field waveform.展开更多
