METHODS: A descriptive KAP survey pertaining to liver fluke infection was carried out in June 2005 to October 2006 using structured questionnaires. Data were collected by questionnaires consisting of general parameters, knowledge, attitude, practice, and a history of participation in the prevention and control of liver fluke infection. RESULTS: A total of 1077 persons who were interviewed and completed the questionnaires were enrolled in the study. The majority were females (69.5%) and many of them were 15-20 years of age (37.26%). The questionnaires revealed that information resources on liver fluke infection included local public health volunteers (31.37%), public health officers (18.72%), televisions (14.38%), local heads of sub-districts (12.31%), doctors and nurses (9.18%), newspaper (5.72), intemets (5.37%), and others (12.95%). Fiftyfive point eleven percent of the population had a good level of liver fluke knowledge concerning the mode of disease transmission and 79.72% of the population had a good level of prevention and control knowledge with regards to defecation and consumption. The attitude and practice in liver fluke prevention and control were also at a good level with a positive awareness, participation, and satisfaction of 72.1% and 60.83% of the persons studied. However, good health behavior was found in 39.26% and 41.42% of the persons studied who had unhygienic defecation and ate raw cyprinoid's fish. The result also showed that 41.25% of the persons studied previously joined prevention and control campaigns. CONCLUSION: The persons studied have a high level of liver fluke knowledge and positive attitude. However, improvement is required regarding personal hygiene specifically with hygienic defecation and consumption of undercooked fish.展开更多

Five distinctive systems are identified: The Field crop system, Fruit tree system, Industrial tree plantation system, Specialty crop system and Agro-tourism system. The different systems are compared with each other in order to identify their respective strengths and weaknesses as development models. The Field crop system covers the largest area of agricultural land and is found in all mountainous villages but it generates very low net profits per hectare. The Specialty crop system and Agro-tourism system generate very high net profits per hectare but cover only a small land area and have a restricted spatial distribution. Expansion of these high value systems may be limited because they are capital and labor intensive and require highly skilled farmers to manage them successfully. If these constraints can be overcome, they may offer a useful model for mountain agricultural development.展开更多

He identified social system into subsystems which were A (Adaptation functions), G (Goal gratification functions), I (Integration functions), and L (Latent pattern maintenance functions). His approach was based on the concern for the stability or maintenance of social system. The aim of this research is experimentally to identify the social system of north-east vocational education's macro administrative problems in Thailand by utilizing AGIL schema. The writer has adopted the symbiosis or maintenance of socials system stance by utilizing this approach. The results of the research were, firstly, the major macro vocational education eight problems (sentences) and 27 sub-problems (sentences) and secondly, the 15 diagrams of above-mentioned problems and sub-problems after utilizing AGIL concepts (In this paper, the writer illustrated seven of them). The study had been done using both secondary and primary data. The secondary data were collected from the written documents and from the internet concerning the vocational schools. In depth interview data were collected. Some respondents have been interviewed more than once. The total of 69 times in depth interview were collected. The researcher had utilized Japanese Kawakita Jiro Method of processing scattering paper clips from these primary and secondary data. In conclusion, the detail of main findings, system of sentences of the macro problems, some derived diagrams examples (After AGIL schema applying) and also implication from the main findings have been illustrated.展开更多
