An object segment similarity function is taken into account from the continuous media frames to measure the individual streaming profit of certain segment versions of a media object.Therefore,a new segment version-bas...An object segment similarity function is taken into account from the continuous media frames to measure the individual streaming profit of certain segment versions of a media object.Therefore,a new segment version-based transcoding(SVT)mechanism is derived for a quality of service(QoS)of client-centric media streaming in wireless mobile networks.The derived function utilizes the fuzzy similarity of certain segment versions of an object.This mechanism provides the effectiveness of reduction of the stream startup latency among segment versions,and the average access of each version.Thus,the proposed segment version transcoding mechanism reduces packet loss which in turn increases streaming performance and throughput.The performance of the partitioned segment versions is simulated and some segment versions are completed.The simulation results show that the proposed mechanism outperforms the other mechanisms in average cache hit ratio and in average startup latency ratio.展开更多

Rec...The concurrent presence of different types of traffic in multimedia applications might aggravate a burden on the underlying data network, which is bound to affect the transmission quality of the specified traffic. Recently, several proposals for fulfilling the quality of service(QoS) guarantees have been presented. However, they can only support coarse-grained QoS with no guarantee of throughput, jitter, delay or loss rate for different applications. To address these more challenging problems, an adaptive scheduling algorithm for Parallel data Processing with Multiple Feedback(PPMF) queues based on software defined networks(SDN) is proposed in this paper, which can guarantee the quality of service of high priority traffic in multimedia applications. PPMF combines the queue bandwidth feedback mechanism to realise the automatic adjustment of the queue bandwidth according to the priority of the packet and network conditions, which can effectively solve the problem of network congestion that has been experienced by some queues for a long time. Experimental results show PPMF significantly outperforms other existing scheduling approaches in achieving 35--80% improvement on average time delay by adjusting the bandwidth adaptively, thus ensuring the transmission quality of the specified traffic and avoiding effectively network congestion.展开更多

They may be, at times, trivial or foolish but they always address the uncertainties of collective and individual identities in a region boiling with struggles over meanings and knowledge. Because of the liberalization of the Arab television industries, they have successfully integrated the global market and are now elaborating new conventions inspired by both oriental and western references. In this paper, it will explore the depiction of Arab youth as a social construct meant to challenge the nationalistic representation of this ambiguous social category while, at the same time, promoting the regional debate over modernity, Arabism, and change.展开更多
A high altitude platform station （HAPS） based communications scenario for providing Intemet access and broadband multimedia services to the passengers on board of a high speed train （traveling up to 300km/h） is pr...A high altitude platform station （HAPS） based communications scenario for providing Intemet access and broadband multimedia services to the passengers on board of a high speed train （traveling up to 300km/h） is proposed. Regarding the addressed scenario, when the propagation link between HAPS and train is blocked by obstacles, a three-dimensional （3-D） geometrical single cylinder spatial-temporal channel model is presented, in which closed form, mathematically tractable space-time correlation functions are obtained. It shows that the correlation functions determined by the 3-D model are of significant difference with those of the conventional 2-D model. Based on the analysis model, the paper derives a realized simulation model using sum-of-sinusoids approach, and applies method of equal areas （MEA） and modified method of equal areas （MMEA） to determine the model parameters. The fitting performance of the simulation model with the analysis one is evaluated by two means-square error （MSE） performance criteria. Finally, numerical simulation results verify the mathematical analysis conclusion, when N ≥21, simulation model has an excellent fitness with the analysis one.展开更多
