In addition to the well-known auto-immune, insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (type 1 diabetes (T 1D)), the past two decades have witnessed the emergence of type 2 diabetes (T2D) in children and adolescents, which previously was only seen in middle-aged or older adults. One of the key components of diabetes management is physical activity (PA). The beneficial effects of increased PA and decreased sedentary behavior are extremely important in youth with diabetes because of the markedly increased long-term risk of cardiovascular disease in this population compared to persons without diabetes. This review aims to comprehensively summarize the epidemiologic, observational research published and listed in PubMed between 1970 and 2012 on PA and sedentary behaviors, as well as physical fitness in children and adolescents with T1D and T2D. Additionally, we describe briefly the state of knowledge on perceived barriers of PA in persons with diabetes, with a focus on hypoglycemia. Finally, we provide an overview of the epidemiological literature pertaining to health benefits of increased PA in youth with TID and T2D and briefly discuss the topic of exercise-related hypoglycemia, Copyright ~ 2012, Shanghai University of Sport. Tribological behavior of the composites with electric current was investigated by using a pin-on-disk friction and wear tester. The results show that the friction coefficient and wear rate of the composites decrease with increasing the reinforcement content, and increase with increasing the electric current density; the effects of electric current are more obvious on tribological properties of graphite-Cu composites than on CNTs-Cu composites; for graphite-Cu composites the dominant wear mechanisms are electric arc erosion and adhesive wear, while for CNTs-Cu composites are adhesive wear.展开更多

A uniform radial distribution for solids fraction and particle velocity achieves near the internals. The turbulent velocity of particles near the wall increases with the addition of the internals, with the lateral solids mixing enhanced significantly. Probability density distribution of particle velocity is bimodal in the riser with internals, which is similar to that in the conventional riser, indicating that no significant difference in the micro flow structure exists between the riser with internals and the conventional riser. At the same time, the axial solids mixing behavior changes insignificantly with the addition of internals. These results indicate that the micro flow structure in the riser is very stable, which changes insignificantly with the change of the bed structure.展开更多

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach was used as modeling method, and turbulent intensity and fluid velocity were applied as system responses to predict the over- flow cut size variations. These investigations showed that cut size would decrease by increasing diameter and height of the separation column and cone section depth, due to the decrease of turbulent intensity and fluid velocity. As the size of discharge gate increases, the overflow cut-size would decrease due to freely fluid stream out of the column. The overflow cut-size was significantly increased in downward fed classifier compared to that fed by upward fluid stream. In addition, reforming the shape of angular overflow outlet's weir into the curved form prevented stream inside returning and consequently unselec- tire cut-size decreasing.展开更多

This paper presents a systematic numerical investigation on effects of deflection angles(30°, 60°, 90°, 120°, 150°, and 180°) on flow phenomena and their evolution in open-channel bends using a Re-Normalization Group(RNG) κ-ε model and a volume of fluid(VOF) method. The numerical results indicate that the deflection angle is a key factor for flows in bends. It is shown that the maximum transverse slope of water surface occurs at the middle cross section of a bend, and it increases with the deflection angle. Besides a major vortex, or, the primary circulation cell near the channel bottom, a secondary vortex, or, an outer bank cell, may also appear above the former and near the outer bank when the deflection angle is sufficiently large, and it will gradually migrate towards the inner bank and evolve into an inner bank cell. The strength of the secondary circulations increases with the deflection angle. The simulation demonstrates that there is alow-stress zone on the bed near the outer bank and a high-stress zone on the bed near the inner bank, and both of them increase in size with the deflection angle. The maximum of shear stress on the inner bank increases nonlinearly with the angle, and its maximums on the outer bank and on the bed take place when the deflection angle becomes 120°.展开更多

A series of isothermal compression tests were performed primarily on a Gleeble-3500 thermo-mechanical simulator in a temperature range of 648-748 K and a strain rate range of 0.01-10 s-1.According to the measured true stress-strain data, the strain hardening rate curves(dσ/dε versus σ) were plotted to identify the critical strains for DRX initiation(εc). By further derivation of the related material constants, the DRX volume fraction equation and the strain for 50% DRX(ε0.5) equation were solved. Accordingly, the aforementioned DRX equations were implanted into the FE model to conduct a series of simulations for the isothermal compression tests. The results show that during the evolution of DRX volume fraction at a fixed strain rate, the strain required for the same amount of DRX volume fraction increases with decreasing temperature. In contrast, at a fixed temperature, it increases with increasing strain rate. Ultimately, the DRX kinetics model of AlCu4 SiMg alloy and the consequence of the FE analysis were validated by microstructure observations.展开更多

A pseudo-fluid approach based on this modified KTGF is used to simulate the dynamic formation and dissipation of clusters in a circulating fluidized bed riser. The agglomeration of particles reduces slip velocity within particle clusters, and hence results in two reverse trends: discrete particles are lifted by air while particle clusters fall down along the wall. The dynamic equilibrium of these two types of motion leads to the characteristic sigmoid profile of solid concentration along the longitudinal direction. The predicted solid velocity, lateral and longitudinal profiles of solid volume fraction and annulus thickness are in reasonable agreement with experimental results.展开更多

It is one of the best method for simulating violent free surface flows in fluids and solving large fluid deformations. Dam breaking is a typical example of these problems. The basis of SPH was reviewed, including some techniques for governing equation resolution, such as the stepping method and the boundary handling method. Then numerical results of a dam breaking simulation were discussed, and the benefits of concepts like artificial viscosity and position correction were analyzed in detail. When compared with dam breaking simulated by the volume of fluid (VOF) method, the wave profile generated by SPH had good agreement, but the pressure had only reasonable agreement. Improving pressure results is clearly an important next step for research.展开更多

All the models carried out were validated by recognized scientific criteria, namely correlation (R) and determination (R2) coefficients on the one hand and NBME and CVRMSE coefficients defined by ASHARE, 2002 on the other hand. The results obtained indicate that the modulation of the air infiltration rate allows the simulations on TRNSYS to be compared to in-situ measurements, with an annual average relative difference of 2.86% on the temperature difference. Furthermore, depending on the parameterization of the heat transfer coefficients by convection of the internal and external walls of walls used in the STD, the average annual difference can be reduced by 1% to 4% between the predictions and the measurements.展开更多

文摘The flow behavior of pressure-driven water infiltration through graphene-based slit nanopores has been studied by molecular simulation. The simulated flow rate is close to the experimental values, which demonstrates the reasonability of simulation results.Water molecules can spontaneously infiltrate into the nanopores, but an external driving force is generally required to pass through the whole pores. The exit of nanopore has a large obstruction on the water effusion. The flow velocity within the graphene nanochannels does not display monotonous dependence upon the pore width, indicating that the flow is related to the microscopic structures of water confined in the nanopores.Extensive structures of confined water are characterized in order to understand the flow behavior. This simulation improves the understanding of graphene-based nanofluidics, which helps in developing a new type of membrane separation technique.

文摘To characterize and recognize the debris flow-related deposits, the physico-mechanical performance of four deposits from the Dongyuege(DYG),Shawa(SW),Jiangjia Gully(JJG),and Gengdi(GD)debris flows in southwest China is investigated through laboratory analyses and tests. The four debris-flow materials can all be remolded into coherent, homogeneous cylinders with high densification and strength–porosity of 25%-36%,mean pore-throat radius of 0.46-5.89μm,median pore-throat radius of 0.43-4.28μm,P-wave velocity of 800-1200 m/s,modulus of elasticity of 28-103 MPa,unconfined compressive strength(UCS)of 220-760 kPa,and cohesion of 65-281 kPa.Based on the comparison in slurryability and formability among debris-flow deposits, granular flow deposits, fluvial deposits, residual lateritic clay and loess, whether a sediment can be cast into competent cylinders for physico-mechanical tests can be regarded as a diagnostic evidence of old debris-flow deposits. The discrepancy in physico-mechanical properties among the four debris-flow deposits suggests that the combination of foregoing physico-mechanical parameters can characterize assembling characteristics of debris flow-related sediments including grain size distribution, mineralogy, and accidental detritus.Four deposited sediments above can be surprisingly classified as hard soil-soft rocks according to UCS,and the hard soil-soft rock behaviors can advance the further understanding of debris flows.

文摘Smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) is a Lagrangian meshless particle method. Improving pressure results is clearly an important next step for research.
文摘Sustainable building design in dry tropical areas recommends reducing exposure of buildings to solar radiation and/or designing efficient enclosures with satisfactory thermal inertia. We propose in this paper a study of the influence of the infiltration rate in the building and the coefficient of thermal transfer by convection of the walls, on the thermal comfort using TRNSYS software. Furthermore, depending on the parameterization of the heat transfer coefficients by convection of the internal and external walls of walls used in the STD, the average annual difference can be reduced by 1% to 4% between the predictions and the measurements.
文摘Objective: To understand female barbers' current awareness of STD/AIDS and evaluate the effect of healtheducation and behavioral interventions. Methods: 53 barbershops in Shenzhen were selected bysampling, and their 382 female barbers were given abase-line survey and assessment of intervention followingthe intervention. Results: The survey showed that female barbersgenerally have little education and knew little aboutSTDs/AIDS. They also had some misunderstanding aboutSTDs/AIDS. Most of them knew the main transmission ofSTDs/AIDS' through sexual contact, but didn't knowwhether AIDS could be transmitted through casual contactin daily life. Their knowledge of STDs/AIDS was limited, but they had lower condom use rates and correct ideasabout when to see the doctor. Conclusion: Health education and behavioralintervention related to STD/AIDS on special populationwere effective and or good social consequence.

文摘In this paper, the dynamics behaviors on fo-δ parameter surface is investigated for Gledzer-Ohkitani- Yamada model We indicate the type of intermittency chaos transitions is saddle node bifurcation. We plot phase diagram on fo-δ parameter surface, which is divided into periodic, quasi-periodic, and intermittent chaos areas. By means of varying Taylor-microscale Reynolds number, we calculate the extended self-similarity of velocity structure function.
