[Method] The quantity of pests, size of female pests and quantity of ova of A. mu-ratae in Suzhou in different host plants under two planting methods and in four di-rections of a host plant were measured. [Result] A. muratae exhibits selectivity to host plants, and their quantity, female pest size and reproductive capacity are higher in Magnolia grandiflora(southern magnolia) than in other plants. The four directions of the host plant suffer to different extents, and the north part is usual y the most in-jured. Mass-planted southern magnolias are more seriously impacted than individual y-planted ones. Both size and weight of a female pest have significant linear relations with ovum quantity, and the weight of a female pest is more closely related to its ovum quantity. Based on the weight of a female pest, we can predict the exact ovum quantity according to the equation y=2E-05x+0.003 7. [Conclusion] The research re-sults provide reference for making an effective control plan for A. muratae.展开更多

The distribution rules of the front and side abutment pressure were demonstrated. The results show that distribution rules of stress are obviously different in the vicinity of the face and entries. The peak value of abutment pressure in the protective coal pillar and face are located commonly in front of the working face along the strike, and they are located at the stress-decreased zone near the face. There is no stress peak value in the lateral coal mass beside the headentry in front of the face on the strike, and the peak value of abutment pressure appears at the rear area of the face. There are stress peak values both in the protective coal pillar and in the lateral coal mass beside the headentry to the dip.展开更多

Results show that the concentration of dust 3–6 m away from the shearers working in the same directions was large, while the impact area of respirable dust near the shearer increased significantly to 5–6 m with the distance between two shearers working in opposite directions. The concentration of dust on a double-shearer face was considerably higher than that of a face with one shear under the combined effect of wind speed on the face and disturbed wind around the shearer, while the dust concentration near the shearer on the return side was considerably higher than that on the inlet side. The concentration of dust on a double-shearer face along the airflow declined slowly so that dust was hard to control. Simulation results confirmed the results of field measurement, which could provide reference for dust prevention design.展开更多

Spectral analysis and energy estimation show that the diurnals and semidiurnals carry most of the energy of internal tides. Values of the depth-integrated total energy E for the three frequency bands of diurnal, semidiurnal, and high frequencies are 31, 6.9, and 3.4 kJ. m, respectively. Near-inertial peaks are only present in the baroclinic component. The behavior of typical tidal frequencies (i.e., O1, K1, M2, MK3, and M4) and the near-inertial frequency is basically consistent with linear internal wave theory, which predicts E+(ω)/E_(ω)=(ω-f)2/(ω+f)2 at depths above 66 m, while not all prominent tidal components coincide well with the relation of the linear internal wave field at other depths. Examinations of depth structures of the baroclinic tides and temporal variations show that the surface tides and internal tides are both of mixed type, having diurnal inequality and spring-neap fortnight periods. The K1 and O1 tides have comparable cross- and along-shelf components, while the M2 and S2 tides propagate toward the shelf in the northern South China Sea as wave beams. The amplitude and phase of internal tides vary with time, but M2 and S2 tides appear to have structures dominated by the first mode, while the K1 and O1 tides resemble second-mode structures. The minor to major axis ratios are close to expected values of flω in the thermocline.展开更多
