R. China. The rigid model was used to determine fluctuating local pressures on the exterior surfaces of the building. The wind tunnel test results show the cr/tical zone of wind pressures on building surfaces in both standalone and interference conditions. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was conducted by using the FLUENT Code to compare with the wind tunnel test results, and the steady three-dimensional turbulent flow with Realizable k-ε as a turbulence model was used. The CFD results are agree with the wind tunnel test results in regards to distributions of wind pressures over a high-rise building's surfaces.展开更多

In our simulations, the calculated coordination number (CN) changes discontinuously with density, and seems to increase rapidly after liquid P is compressed to 2.5 g/cm3. Under compression, liquid P shows the first-order liquid-liquid phase transition from the molecular liquid composed of the tetrahedral P4 molecules to complex polymeric form with three-dimensional network structure, accompanied by the nonmetal to metal transition of the electronic structure. The order parameters Q6 and Q4 are sensitive to the microstructural change of liquid P. By calculating diffusion coefficients, we show the dynamical anomaly of liquid P by compression. At lower temperatures, a maximum exists at the diffusion coefficients as a function of density; at higher temperatures, the anomalous behavior is weakened. The excess entropy shows the same phenomena as the diffusion coefficients. By analysis of the angle distribution functions and angular limited triplet correlation functions, we can clearly find that the Peierls distortion in polymeric form of liquid P is reduced by further compression.展开更多

The relevant information, including the pressure drop, velocity vector distribution and shear stress distribution, demonstrates the importance of optimized design of the spacer in an electrodialysis process. The results show width of the diversion trench has a great effect on the fluid flow compared with length. Increase of the diversion trench width could strength the fluid flow, but also increase the pressure drop. Secondly, the dead zone of the fluid flow decreases with increase of length-width ratio of the spacer, but the pressure drop increases with the increase of length-width ratio of the spacer. So the appropriate length-width ratio of the space should be moderate.展开更多

Since it is difficult to mathematically predict the spike-type stall for its randomness, finding out a practical method to warning this stall precursor appears to be meaningful. The paper explains the relationship between the spike-type precursor and the blade passing irregularity coefficient to analyze whether this coefficient is appropriate for the spike-stall warning inside a centrifugal compressor with the vaned-diffuser. The advanced wireless measurements were conducted on a 1.5 stages test centrifugal compressor to capture the unsteady behavior progressing from the design to stall inception within the region between the impeller trailing edge(TE) and diffuser leading edge(LE). The circumferential distribution of the blade passing irregularity has been quantitatively revealed. The steep increase of the blade passing irregularity at some "special locations", which is responsible for the onset of the spiketype precursor, is highlighted. Also, to further understand the spike precursor inside the diffuser passage corresponding to the circumferential "special location" with maximum irregularity, the high-response transient measurement within this passage is presented. With the help of full-annulus computational fluid dynamics(CFD) simulation and the mathematical model, it is proved that the blade passing irregularity precisely reflects the flow characteristics during the spike precursor, which presents the guidance for this stall warning method.展开更多

By solving the new motion equation using Runge-Kutta fourth order methodwith adaptive step size control, the dynamic behaviors of cavitation bubble driven by the varying pressure fielddownstream of a venturi cavitation reactor are numerically simulated. The effects of liquid temperature (correspondingto the saturated vapor pressure of liquid), cavitation number and inlet pressure of venturi on radial motionof bubble and pressure pulse due to the radial motion are analyzed and discussed in detail. Some dynamicbehaviors of bubble different from those in previous papers are displayed. In addition, the internal relationshipbetween bubble dynamics and process intensification is also discussed. The simulation results reported in thiswork reveal the variation laws of cavitation intensity with the flow conditions of liquid, and will lay a foundationfor the practical application of hydrodynamic cavitation technology.展开更多

In this approach, the smoothed particle hydrodynamics(SPH) method is used to model the compressible fluid, the natural coordinate formulation(NCF) and absolute nodal coordinate formulation(ANCF) are used to model the rigid and flexible bodies, respectively. In order to model the compressible fluid properly and efficiently via SPH method, three measures are taken as follows. The first is to use the Riemann solver to cope with the fluid compressibility, the second is to define virtual particles of SPH to model the dynamic interaction between the fluid and the multibody system, and the third is to impose the boundary conditions of periodical inflow and outflow to reduce the number of SPH particles involved in the computation process. Afterwards, a parallel computation strategy is proposed based on the graphics processing unit(GPU) to detect the neighboring SPH particles and to solve the dynamic equations of SPH particles in order to improve the computation efficiency. Meanwhile, the generalized-alpha algorithm is used to solve the dynamic equations of the multibody system. Finally, four case studies are given to validate the proposed parallel computation approach.展开更多

As shown by Ding et al. (2013), when the parameter λ→∞ oo, the solutions to the compressible liquid crystal system approximate that of the incompressible one. Furthermore, Ding et al. In this paper, we show that the solution to the compressible liquid crystal flow also exists for all time, provided that is sufficiently large and the initial data are almost incompressible.展开更多
