Polyborate distributions in aqueous NaB(OH)4 solution were calculated, covering all the concentration range, B(OH)4 is the most dominant species, other polyborate anions are less than 5.0%. The volumetric and the transport properties were discussed in detail, both of these properties indicate that B(OH)4 behaves as a struc- ture-disordered anion.展开更多

It was found that an increase in pH caused the binodal curve to be displaced downward and the two-phase region to expand. Accordingly, the binodal curve was adjusted to the Pirdashti equation and the tie-line compositions were correlated using the Othmer-Tobias, Bancroft and Hand equations. The study measured the refractive index and densities of several homogeneous binary and ternary solutions. The solutions were used for calibration within a range of 0% to 30% of the mass of the PEG and potassium formate. The density and refractive index data show a linear variation with the mass fraction of the polymer and the salt. The effect of pH on the binodal, tie-line lengths (TLL) and slope of the tie-line (STL) in the systems was exam- ined. It was found that an increase in pH increased the TLL and decreased the STL It was observed that the density of the aqueous two-phase system was influenced by the TLL The difference in density between phases (△p) increased as the TLL and pH increased. It was found that the TLL and Ap showed a linear relationship. The effective excluded volume (EEV) of the PEG was obtained and it was found that EEV also increased as the pH increased.展开更多

This highly effective and economically applicable method has been developed for separating emodin and rhein from herbal extract. In a GATE system composed of butyl acetate/PEG4000/ammonium sulfate aqueous solution, influence of various parameters including gas flow rate, flotation time, salt concentration, initial volume of PEG and butyl acetate was investigated. Within 50 min of 30 ml·min-1nitrogen flow, removal ratio of emodin and rhein from aqueous phase could be over 99% and 97%, respectively.Mass fraction of emodin in the BA phase and rhein in the PEG phase could reach 97% and 95%, respectively. It is demonstrated that gas bubbling is effective for partitioning of emodin and rhein into butyl acetate and PEG phase respectively, and dispersed PEG and butyl acetate could be captured from the aqueous solution. Experimental results show that GATE could be an effective and economical technology for concentration and separation of co-existed products in medicinal plants.展开更多
