The hysteresis of pressure drop and the variance of radial liquid distribution were observed simultaneously. Residence time distribution (RTD), holdup and mean residence time (RT) of liquid phase were also found to demonstrate hysteresis of the same nature. RTD, liquid holdup and mean RT calculated with a simple model from the distribution of liquid flow rate show characteristics consistant with the experimental data, suggesting that the hyteretic phenomena originate from the multiplicity and nonuniformity of liquid flow distribution.展开更多

A computational fluid dynamics code was applied to calculate the flow field and the droplet trajectories. Droplet size distributions and droplet velocities as necessary inlet characteristics for the simulations were experimentally obtained using a Spraytec Fraunhofer type particle sizer and laser-Doppler anemometry. Effects of shoreline winds and painting distance on the transfer efficiency and on the paint film thickness distributions on the target were numerically studied.展开更多

Experimental measurement of the velocity distribution by using whole field digitized PIV (particle imagevelocimetry) method is briefly described. The velocity distribution predicted by the present model is in betteragreement with the measurements than the others models published in literature.展开更多

The mild stenosis approximation is used to solve the present problem. The effect of the volume fraction density of the particles, the maximum height attained by the balloon, the radius of the inner tube, which keeps the balloon in position k, and the axial displacement of the balloon have been studied. Flow parameters such as the resistive impedance, the wall shear stress distribution in the stenotic region and its magnitude at the stenosis throat have been computed for different parameters. It is observed that the resistance to flow decreases with increasing values of the axial displacement of the balloon, while the resistance to flow increases with the volume fraction density of the particles, the radius of the inner tube, which keeps the balloon in position k, and the maximum height attained by the balloon. The wall shear stress distribution in the stenotic region possesses a character similar to the resistance to flow with respect to any parameter.展开更多

Similarity analysis has been utilized to model governing equations, which are simplified to set of nonlinear differential equations. Computational procedure of shooting algorithm along with 4 th order Range-Kutta-Fehlberg scheme is opted to attain the velocity and temperature distributions. Impact of imperative parameters on Casson fluid flow, temperature, significant physical quantities such as skin friction, local heat flux and streamlines are displayed via graphs.展开更多
