The distribution of solution and flocculation microstructure in flesh cement paste was observed with optical microscope. The change of free solution amount and its effect on the fluidity and bleeding of cement paste was studied. The results show that the adsorbed solution amount has a great influence on the com- patibility of cement-superplasticizer system, including the bleeding degree, the fluidity and the time-depended fluidity loss of cement paste. Superplasticizer increases the fluidity of cement paste by destroying the flocculated cement particle structure and increasing the amount of adsorbed solution. Polycarboxylate superplasticizer shows higher ability of adsorption than naphtha- lene superplasticizer. Over dosage of superplasticizer is not the primary cause of bleeding. The principle reason of bleeding is the high water-cement ratio and the insufficient enhancing ability of water adsorption of superplasticizer.展开更多

The experimental results shows that the asymmetry of static pressure distribution on volute casing and front cavity is caused by the tongue of the volute and it may result in high radial and axial resultant force which can cause vibration and noise in the centrifugal pump. With the increasing of flow rote, the asymmetry of static pressure distribution and the magnitude of static pressure values reduce. The numerical results indicate that the pressure fluctuation near the tongue is strongest and it becomes slighter at point away from the tongue. With the increasing of flow rote, the local high=pressure region in impeller passage reduces and the flow becomes smoother accordingly, whereas the fluid speed becomes much higher which may cause further flow losses. The results predicted by numcrical simulation are in coincident with the experimental ones. It shows that the turbulence model for simulating the flow field in centrifugal pumps is feasible.展开更多

During a blink, the heat loss via convection, radiation and tear evaporation from cornea is prevented, warm tear is lay- ered across corneal surface and the vessels of the palpebral conjunctiva provide heat to anterior eye. In most of the thermal models in human eye that are found in literatures, effect of blinking is not included, simulation is carried out only in open eye. Thus, in this paper, thermal effects of blinking are investigated using one-dimensional finite element method in transient state case. The bio-heat transfer process is simulated during different blinking rates, lid closure and opening. The simulation is carried out using normal and extreme values of ambient temperatures, blood temperatures, evaporation rates, blood perfusion rates, and lens thermal conduetivities. Blinking is found to increase corneal and lens temperature by 1.29℃ and 0.78℃ respectively when compared to open eye. The results obtained from this model are useful in predicting temperature distribution in different laser eye surgeries, hyperthermia and cryosurgery treatment of eyelid carci- noma, choroidal melanoma and can be used for diagnosing temperature-related diseases.展开更多
