METHODS: Between January 1999 and December 2002, 1291 ERCP-related procedures were performed. Serum amylase concentrations were measured before the procedure and 3, 6, and 24 h afterward. The frequency and severity of post-ERCP pancreatitis and the relationship between these phenomena and the change in amylase level were estimated. RESULTS: Post-ERCP pancreatitis occurred in 47 patients (3.6%). Pancreatitis occurred in 1% of patients with normal amylase levels 3 h after ERCP, and in 1%, 5%, 20%, 31% and 39% of patients with amylase levels elevated 1-2 times, 2-3 times, 3-5 times, 5-10 times and over 10 times the upper normal limit at 3 h after ERCP, respectively (level < 2 times vs ≥ 2 times, P < 0.001). Of the 143 patients with levels higher than the normal limit at 3 h after ERCP followed by elevation at 6 h, pancreatitis occurred in 26%. In contrast, pancreatitis occurred in 9% of 45 patients with a level higher than two times the normal limit at 3 h after ERCP followed by a decrease at 6 h (26% vs 9%, P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Post-ERCP pancreatitis is frequently associated with an increase in serum amylase level greater than twice the normal limit at 3 h after ERCP with an elevation at 6 h. A decrease in amylase level at 6 h after ERCP suggests the unlikelihood of development of post-ERCP pancreatitis.展开更多

METHODS:One hundred and eight rats were randomly divided into acute necrotizing pancreatitis (ANP) group,Bre group (ANP + Bre group) and sham operation (SO) group,36 rats in each group. ANP model was induced by a retrograde injection of 4% sodium deoxycholate into the bilio-pancreatic duct. Fifteen minutes after the ANP model was induced, the rats in Bre group were intraperitoneally injected with Bre (0.4 mg/100 g body weight or 0.1 mL/100 g body weight). Survival time and mortality of rats were calculated. Serum amylase and malondialdehyde levels were measured, volume of ascites was recorded and morphology of pancreas and lung was evaluated at 1,5 and 10 h,after the ANP model was induced, respectively. Expressions of PKCα and subunit p65 of NF-κB in pancreas were detected by immunohistochemistry and Western blotting. RESULTS:The life span of rats was longer and the mortality was lower in Bre group than in ANP group 13.51 ± 5.46 vs 25.36 ± 8.11 (P < 0.05). The amylase and MDA levels as well as the volume of ascites were lower and the pathological changes in pancreas and lung were less in Bre group than ANP group (P < 0.05),indicating that the pancreatitis is less severe in Bre group than ANP group. The activation of PKCα and NF-κB p65 in pancreas was induced rapidly and reached their peak at 1 h or 5 h after ANP,but their activity in Bre group was significantly inhibited. CONCLUSION:Bre exerts its therapeutic effect on AP by inhibiting the activation of PKCα and NF-κB p65 in pancreas.展开更多

By using amyloid precursor protein (APP) transfected cells, this study aims to investigate the effect of overproduction of Aβ on cell differentiation and cell viability. It was shown that after serum withdrawal, untransfected cell (N2a/Wt) and vector transfected cells (N2a/vector) extended long and branched cell processes, whereas no neurites was induced in wild type APP (N2a/APP695) and Swedish mutant APP (N2a/ APPswe) transfected N2a cells. After differentiation by serum withdrawal, the localization of APP/AP and neurofilament was extended to neurites, whereas those of APP-transfected cells were stillrestricted within the cell body. Levels of both APP and Aβ were significantly higher in N2a/APP695 and N2a/APPswe than in N2a/Wt, as determined by Western blot and Sandwich ELISA, respectively. To further investigate the effect of A0 on the inhibition of cell differentiation, we added exogenously the similar level or about 10-times of the AP level produced by N2a/APP695 and N2a/APPswe to the culture medium and co-cultured with N2a/Wt for 12 h, and we found that the inhibition of serum withdrawal-induced differentiation observed in N2a/APP695 and N2a/APPswe could not be reproduced by exogenous administration of AP into N2a/Wt. We also observed that neither endogenous production nor exogenous addition of Aβ1-40 or Aβ1-42, even to hundreds fold of the physiological concentration, affected obviously the cell viability. These results suggest that the overproduction of AP could not arrest cell differentiation induced by serum deprivation and that, at least to a certain degree and in a limited time period, is not toxic to cell viability.展开更多

METHODS: Conventional upper gastrointestinal endos- copy was performed on five control pigs. Oral DBE was performed with an EN-450T5 enteroscope on 20 pigs. Two experimental groups (10 pigs each) were defined according to DBE duration: 90 rain for Group 1 and 140 min for Group 2. During oral insertion, the balloons were not inflated in the descending part of the duodenum to avoid the minor duodenal papilla. Serum amy- lase, lipase and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels were monitored before the procedure and repeated every 30 min until the exploration was finished, as well as 24 h and 7 d after. After the procedure and for a total of 7 d, the pigs were observed twice a day for signs of de- creased activity, irritability, vomiting or anorexia. Gross and microscopic examination of the pancreas was per- formed on day 7. RESULTS: All animals tolerated DBE without clini- cal manifestations of acute pancreatitis. Experimental groups had higher levels of enzymes than the control group at 24 h. Throughout the exploration, the amylase levels increased significantly above the baseline 24 h after DBE, although the increase was not statistically significant and did not reach 20% of the baseline. An increase in lipase and CRP was observed at 24 h after the procedure, although by day 7, all enzymatic lev- els had returned to baseline. No differences between Groups 1 and 2 were found for any enzyme and sam- pling site during and after the procedure. Similarly, no correlation between insertion depth and enzyme levels was observed. Direct in situ and post-removal inspec- tion of the pancreas did not show any evidence of fluid collection, abscesses or hemorrhage. Histological examination of the pancreas from Groups 1 and 2 re- vealed the existence of focal areas (0.14-0.26 mm2) of ischemic necrosis in 47.4% of the animals. In the pigs with damaged pancreas, the left lobe (tail) was always affected. However, this only happened in 83.3% of the samples from the right lobe (head) and in 33.3% of the samples from the body of the pancreas. Significant differences were found between the left lobe (tail) and the body for the percentage of affected pancreas. Both the size of the lesions and the percentage of affected pancreas were higher in the left pancreatic lobe (tail). The presence of the lesions was not related to the ex- ploration length.CONCLUSION: The increase in pancreatic enzymes after DBE could be related to focal points of pancreatic ischemic necrosis due to mechanical stress.展开更多

The patient was a 42-year-old Japanese female with a 22-year history of rheumatoid arthritis. She was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis when she was 31-year old. At the onset of pancreatitis, the patient was anti-nudear antibody-positive, and had high serum gamma globulin and IgG4 levels. Dexamethasone and conventional therapy induced clinical remission and significantly decreased the serum IgG4 and gamma globulin. However, despite the decreased disease parameters, the patient developed a bleeding pseudocyst and died of cardiac failure. In the autopsy examination, it was determined that pancreatitis was probably caused by ischemia due to vascular obstruction caused by amyloid deposition in the pancreas. Even though acute pancreatitis is a rare complication in RA patients, we speculate that an autoimmune pancreatitis-related mechanism and ischemia due to vascular obstruction by amyloid deposition might be attributable to a single source that leads to acute pancreatitis in our particular case.展开更多

The supernatant and filter cake were examined to determine the rate and extent of flocculation and dewatering. A starch-based filter aid was used to increase flocculation and dewatering rates. The filtration constant, K, and compression index, s, of the Yongcheng slurry were measured under various conditions. A designed experiment was performed to determine optimum conditions for dewatering. The results showed that the filter aid enhanced flocculation and coagulation of the fine cleaned coal slurry, enhanced the structure of the filter cake and promoted dewatering of the cake. Moisture content in the cake was reduced to 17% after vacuum filtration.展开更多

The algorithm and program have been developed for an interactive, rapid and convenient processing of the data obtained from sedimentation experiments in stationary column of aqueous suspensions of solids particles and allow obtaining with accuracy of precise and expressive graphs which characterize the behaviour of aqueous suspensions to sedimentation in stationary column. Sedimentation study of different aqueous suspensions of solids particles in stationary column is of great importance for experimentally determining the important parameters required to design and exploitation clarifiers and sludge thickeners from waste water treatment plants.展开更多

Six semi-purified diets with different carbohydrates (dextrin, heat-treated wheat starch, wheat starch, corn starch, tapioca starch and potato starch, respectively), all containing a carbohydrate level of 33.5%, were fed to abalone (initial shell length: 29.98mm±0.09mm; initial weight. 3.42g±0.02g) for 24 weeks in a recirculation system. The results indicate that serum triglyceride concentrations were significantly (P〈0.05) higher in the abalone fed with dextrin, heat-treated wheat starch and wheat starch than those fed with corn starch, and serum cholesterol concentrations were significantly (P〈0.05) higher in the abalone fed with dextrin, heat-treated wheat starch than those fed with corn starch. Fatty acid C20:4n-6 in the foot mus- cles were significantly (P〈0.05) lower in the abalone fed with dextrin than those fed with wheat starch, corn starch, tapioca starch and potato starch. Fatty acid C20:4n-6 in hepatopancreas was significantly (P〈0.05) lower in abalone fed with heat-treated wheat starch than those fed with corn starch, tapioca starch and potato starch. Fatty acid C22:6n-3 in the foot muscles were significantly (P 〈 0.05) lower in the abalone fed with dextrin and beat-treated wheat starch than those fed with wheat starch and potato starch.展开更多

Methods: One hundred and sixty-two adult male SD rats with the body mass of 250–280 g were randomly divided into the following 5 groups: sham operation group (n=18), control group (n=36), Yihuo Qingyi Decoction treatment group (n=36), r-Sak treatment group (n=36), and Yihuo Qingyi Decoction plus r-Sak treatment group (n=36). The SAP ratmodel was prepared by retrograde injection of 5% sodium taurocholate into the cholangiopancreatic duct. Two days before modeling, Yihuo Qingyi Decoction was intragastrically administrated, and r-Sak was intraperitoneally injected. The survival rate within 18 h after modeling was determined. The pancreatic blood flow, the weight of ascites, and the serum amylase and lipase were investigated at 6 h, 12 h, and 18kh after modeling, and the pancreatic tissue was examined under light microscopy to see its pathological change. Results: The 18 h survival count of group A,B,C,D and E rats was 9,2,6,7 and 8 respectively. After r-Sak and Yihuo Qingyi Decoction intervention, the serum amylase and lipase and the weight of ascites were significantly decreased, especially in group E.18 h after modeling, the level of the serum amylase and lipase and the weight of ascites in group E was 1 100±118 U·L-1,1 000±150 U·L-1 and 13.40±1.80 g respectively, obviously lower than that of group B (P<0.05).After SAP was induced, the pancreatic blood flow showed a tendency to decrease, but the decrease extent in the treatment groups was smaller than that in the control group.18h after modeling, the pancreatic blood flow in group B and group E was 30.16±8.96 mL·100 g-1·min-1,and 129.10±42.58 mL·100 g-1·min-1 respectively, there was significant difference (P<0.05). The pathological change of the pancreatic tissue was alleviated in the treatment groups. Conclusion: Both r-Sak and Yihuo Qingyi Decoction play a beneficial role in the treatment of rat SAP and there is a synergistic effect between the two.展开更多

文摘Diagnosis and treatment of common conditions in morbidly obese patients still pose a challenge to physicians and surgeons.Sometimes too much reliance is put on investigations that can lead to a misdiagnosis. This case demonstrates an obese woman admitted under the medical team with a presumed diagnosis of pneumonia, who was later found to have an acute abdomen and raised amylase, which led to an assumed diagnosis of pancreatitis. She died within 24 h of admission and post mortem confirmed the cause of death as systemic sepsis due to perforated appendicitis, with no evidence of pancreatitis.Significantly elevated serum amylase level may occur in non-pancreatitic acute abdomen.

文摘Abnormal deposition of amyloid-p(Ap) peptides and formation of neuritic plaques are recognized as pathological processes in Alzheimer's disease (AD) brain. These results suggest that the overproduction of AP could not arrest cell differentiation induced by serum deprivation and that, at least to a certain degree and in a limited time period, is not toxic to cell viability.

文摘We report an autopsy case of acute pancreatitis with a high serum IgG4 concentration complicated by systemic amyloid A amyloidosis and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Even though acute pancreatitis is a rare complication in RA patients, we speculate that an autoimmune pancreatitis-related mechanism and ischemia due to vascular obstruction by amyloid deposition might be attributable to a single source that leads to acute pancreatitis in our particular case.

文摘AIM:To investigate the role and potential mechanisms of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) in severe acute peritonitis(SAP).METHODS:Pancreatic acinar cells from Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups:nonsodium deoxycholate(SDOC) group(non-SODC group),SDOC group, and a MSCs intervention group(i.e.,a co-culture system of MSCs and pancreatic acinar cells + SDOC).The cell survival rate, the concentration of malonaldehyde(MDA),the density of superoxide dismutase(SOD),serum amylase(AMS) secretion rate and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) leakage rate were detected at various time points. In a separate study,Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into either an SAP group or an SAP + MSCs group.Serum AMS,MDA and SOD,interleukin(IL)-6,IL-10,and tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α levels, intestinal mucosa injury scores and proliferating cells of small intestinal mucosa were measured at various time points after injecting either MSCs or saline into rats.In both studies, the protective effect of MSCs was evaluated.RESULTS:In vitro,The cell survival rate of pancreatic acinar cells and the density of SOD were significantly reduced, and the concentration of MDA,AMS secretion rate and LDH leakage rate were significantly increased in the SDOC group compared with the MSCs intervention group and the Non-SDOC group at each time point. In vivo,Serum AMS,IL-6,TNF-α and MAD level in the SAP + MSCs group were lower than the SAP group;however serum IL-10 level was higher than the SAP group.Serum SOD level was higher than the SAP group at each time point, whereas a significant betweengroup difference in SOD level was only noted after 24 h.Intestinal mucosa injury scores was significantly reduced and the proliferating cells of small intestinal mucosa became obvious after injecting MSCs.CONCLUSION:MSCs can effectively relieve injury to pancreatic acinar cells and small intestinal epithelium, promote the proliferation of enteric epithelium and repair of the mucosa, attenuate systemic inflammation in rats with SAP.

文摘The dewatering of fine, flotation cleaned coals from Huaibei and Xuzhou (bituminous) and Yongcheng (anthracite) were studied. Moisture content in the cake was reduced to 17% after vacuum filtration.
文摘The present paper presents an algorithm and a program for plotting the clarifying curves and for determination of the specific amount of settled material during the initial period based on data obtained from sedimentation experiments in stationary column of aqueous suspensions of solids particles with different concentrations. Sedimentation study of different aqueous suspensions of solids particles in stationary column is of great importance for experimentally determining the important parameters required to design and exploitation clarifiers and sludge thickeners from waste water treatment plants.
文摘The effluent quality from a secondary clarifier in an activated sludge process depends on the performance in the secondary clarifier at great extent. Several models have been developed based on the Kynch solid flux theory to improve the clarifier performance at last decades. This paper proposed a model which is established according to the basis sedimentation process of the secondary clarifier and Kynch flux theory for a clarifier with feedwell in upper of tank and the diffusion effective are combined into the model, which benefts the further improvement of the model and makes the solutions fit to the measurement data in secondary clarifier,

文摘A study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary carbohydrates on triglyceride, cholesterol and fatty acid concentrations in abalone, Haliotis discus hannai Ino. Fatty acid C22:6n-3 in the foot muscles were significantly (P 〈 0.05) lower in the abalone fed with dextrin and beat-treated wheat starch than those fed with wheat starch and potato starch.

文摘Objective: To investigate the effect of recombinant staphylokinase (r-Sak) and the Chinese medicine Yihuo Qingyi Decoction (益活凊胰汤 Herbal decoction for severe acute pancreatitis) in the treatment of the severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) in rats, and to observe the synergistic effect of the two. Conclusion: Both r-Sak and Yihuo Qingyi Decoction play a beneficial role in the treatment of rat SAP and there is a synergistic effect between the two.
