In present work, graphite and MoS2 (7%, wt) filled PEEK coatings were prepared using serigraph technique. Employing a uniform design experiment, the friction behavior of the composite coatings was systematically investigated under dry sliding conditions on a ball-on-disc arrangement. The evolution mechanism of coating friction coefficient was discussed. Correlation of coatings friction coefficient with sliding velocity and applied load was accomplished using stepwise regression method. The results indicate that friction coefficients of PEEK + MoS2 and PEEK + graphite coating decrease while increasing applied load. Moreover, friction coefficient of PEEK + MoS2 coating increases with increasing sliding velocity.展开更多

Firstly, amine-terminated poly(2-methyl-2-oxazoline)(PMOXA-NH2) and thiolterminated poly(acrylic acid)(PAA-SH) were synthesized by using cationic ring-opening polymerization (CROP) and reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization, respectively. Then, the BBC capillary based on poly(2-methyl-2-oxazoline)(PMOXA) and poly(acrylic acid)(PAA) was prepared by sequentially grafting of PMOXA-NH2 and PAA-SH onto fused-silica capillary inner surface through poly(dopamine)(PDA) as an anchor. The obtained PMOXA/PAA coating formed on the capillary or capillary's raw material was characterized in terms of the thickness, surface chemical composition by using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS). The switchable protein adsorption/desorption performance of the BBC capillary was investigated by using fluorescence microscope under di erent solutions with certain pH and ionic strength(I). The results showed that bovine serum albumin (BSA) could be adsorbed on BBC capillary at pH=5.0 (I=10^-5 mol/L), and then the adsorbed BSA could be released at pH=9.0 (I=0.1 mol/L). This switchable protein adsorption/desorption property of coated capillary was then used to preconcentrate proteins on-line for increasing the detection sensitivity of BSA in capillary electrophoresis (CE). With this method, a sensitivity enhancement factor (SEF) more than 5000 for BSA detection was obtained.展开更多

Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) tools with different grain sizes and geometries, and carbide tools with and without coatings were used in the experiments. Milling forces, milling temperatures, tool lifetimes, tool wear, and machined surface integrities were investigated. The PCD tool required a primary cutting force 15 % smaller than that of the carbide tool, while the uncoated carbide tool required a primary cutting force 10% higher than that of the TiA1N-eoated tool. A cutting force of 300 N per millimeter of the cutting edge (300 N/mm) was measured. This caused excessive tool chipping. The cutting temperature of the PCD tool was 20%-30% lower than that of the carbide tool, while that of the TiA1N-coated tool was 12% lower than that of the uncoated carbide tool. The cutting temperatures produced when using water-based cooling and minimal quantity lubrication (MQL) were reduced by 100 ~C and 200 ~C, compared with those recorded with dry cutting, respectively. In general, the PCD tool lifetimes were 2--3 times longer than the carbide tool lifetimes. The roughness Ra of the machined surface was less than 0.6μm, and the depth of the machined surface hardened layer was in the range of 0.15-0.25 mm for all of the PCD tools before a flank wear land of 0.2 mm was reached. The PCD tool with a 0.8 mm tool nose radius, 0% rake angle, 10% flank angle, and grain size of (30+2) μm exhibited the best cutting performance. For this specific tool, a lifetime of 16 rain can be expected.展开更多

A high-quality conducting hybrid film is deposited on a plasma-treated glass substrate by spraying AgNWs, immersing the sprayed product in positively charged adhesive polymer solution, and then spraying negatively charged graphene oxide (GO) and a silane layer as an over-coating layer (OCL).The results of heating tests conducted after adhesion tests show that the sheet resistance changes with the application of polymer glue. Surprisingly, the transmittance of the film with the GO OCL is higher than that of the film without the GO OCL. Heating and defrosting tests are carefully conducted via infrared (IR) monitoring. Adhesive-polymer-treated and GO-protected AgNW transparent glass heaters exhibit the best performance with low sheet resistance; thus, through strong electrostatic interaction among the substrate, adhesive layer, and OCL, our AgNW hybrid glass heater can reach the target temperature with a standard vehicle voltage of 12 V in a short period of time.展开更多

For this mixed-mode test method, the analytical expres- sions for the energy release rate and stress intensity factors were derived based on the energy theory and the concept of "equi- valence". The fidelity of these expressions was affirmed by selected finite element analysis. The experimental results showed that the critical energy release rate increased with the increase of the positive mode mixity, which was mainly due to the increase in contact/friction effect and plastic work dissipation with increasing shear mode loading. Furthermore, an elliptical interfacial failure criterion in terms of the stress intensity factors was proposed. The agreement between the experimental results in the literature and those in our work indicated that our test method and the corresponding analytical solutions can well determine the interfaeial fracture toughness of the TBCs over a wide range of mode mixities.展开更多
