An extended liquid-liquid equilibrium(LLE) UNIFAC model is proposed to describe phase equilibria of mixtures containing caprolactam.In this model,caprolactam is introduced as a new group.New group interaction paramete...An extended liquid-liquid equilibrium(LLE) UNIFAC model is proposed to describe phase equilibria of mixtures containing caprolactam.In this model,caprolactam is introduced as a new group.New group interaction parameters are calibrated from 156 sets of liquid-liquid equilibrium data.The present model gives satisfactory correlation and prediction in liquid-liquid equilibrium,including quaternary systems containing the mixed solvent of an alcohol and an alkane.The model can be applied to predict caprolactam solubility in water and benzene accurately.Freezing point and vapor-liquid equilibrium of binary systems containing caprolactam are also predicted with the extended LLE UNIFAC model.Satisfactory prediction results are obtained.展开更多
Numerical simulation of enhanced fluid flow characteristics in a three-stage double-stirring extraction tank was conducted with the coupling of an Eulerian multiphase flow model and a Morsi-Alexander interphase drag f...Numerical simulation of enhanced fluid flow characteristics in a three-stage double-stirring extraction tank was conducted with the coupling of an Eulerian multiphase flow model and a Morsi-Alexander interphase drag force model. Results show that the addition of a stirring device into the settler can efficiently reduce the volume fraction of out-of-phase impurity in the outlet, and accelerate the settling separation of oil-water mixture. Such addition can also effectively break down the oil-water-wrapped liquid droplets coming from the mixer, inhibit reflux from the outlet, and improve the oil-water separation. The addition of a stirring device induces ignorable power consumption compared with that by the mixer, and can thus facilitate the commercialized promotion of this novel equipment.展开更多
By taking into account the valence electron number and periodic number of constituting metals, a new method is first proposed to calculate the structural enthalpy in the Miedema's model and the modified Miedema...By taking into account the valence electron number and periodic number of constituting metals, a new method is first proposed to calculate the structural enthalpy in the Miedema's model and the modified Miedema's model is then used to predict the formation of metastable phases in Ni-Ti system. To testify the relevance of the present prediction, the multilayered films of Ni1-xTix (x=27.3, 30.5, 42.4, 83.1, 89) are prepared and irradiated by 200 keV xenon ions. Experiment results reveal that uniform amorphous phases are obtained in the Ni72.7Ti27.3, Ni69.5Ti30.5, and Ni57.6Ti42.4 films by increasing the irradiation dose. While for the Ni16.9Ti83.1 and Ni11Ti89 films, an hcp Ti-based solid solution phase and a bcc Ti-rich solid solution phase coexist upon irradiation dose higher than 6×1014 Xe+/cm2. The predictions of relative stabilities of metastable phases in Ni-Ti system by the modified Miedema's model match well with IBM experiments, thus justifying the modification proposed in the present study.展开更多

The hybrid-HVDC topology,which consists of line-commutated-converter(LCC)and voltage source converter(VSC)and combines their advantages,has extensive application prospects.A hybrid-HVDC system,adopting VSC on rectifie...The hybrid-HVDC topology,which consists of line-commutated-converter(LCC)and voltage source converter(VSC)and combines their advantages,has extensive application prospects.A hybrid-HVDC system,adopting VSC on rectifier side and LCC on inverter side,is investigated,and its mathematic model is deduced.The commutation failure issue of the LCC converter in the hybrid-HVDC system is considered,and a novel coordinated control method is proposed to enhance the system commutation failure immunity.A voltage dependent voltage order limiter(VDVOL)is designed based on the constant DC voltage control on the rectifier side,and constant extinction angle backup control is introduced based on the constant DC current control with voltage dependent current order limiter(VDCOL)on the inverter side.The hybrid-HVDC system performances under normal operation state and fault state are simulated in the PSCAD/EMTDC.Then,system transient state performances with or without the proposed control methods under fault condition are further compared and analyzed.It is concluded that the proposed control method has the ability to effectively reduce the probability of commutation failure and improve the fault recovery performance of the hybrid-HVDC system.展开更多
The paper presents a simplified numerical model of evaporation processes inside vertical tubes.In this model only the temperature fields in the fluid domain(the liquid or two-phase mixture) and solid domain(a tube wal...The paper presents a simplified numerical model of evaporation processes inside vertical tubes.In this model only the temperature fields in the fluid domain(the liquid or two-phase mixture) and solid domain(a tube wall) are determined.Therefore its performance and efficiency is high.The analytical formulas,which allow calculating the pressure drop and the distribution of heat transfer coefficient along the tube length,are used in this model.The energy equation for the fluid domain is solved with the Control Volume Method and for the solid domain with the Finite Element Method in order to determine the temperature field for the fluid and solid domains.展开更多
