The controls were fed to satiation twice a day throughout the experiment, whereas treatment groups were fed at 0.5%, 1.5% or 3.0% body weight per day for 4 weeks, and then to satiation for the remainder of the experiment. During the first 4-week period, there was a curvilinear relationship between growth rate and ration size. Fish fed 0.5% and 1.5% rations displayed compensatory growth response of 2 weeks duration during realimentation. The weight-adjusted growth rate of fish fed at 3% ration was not significantly different from that of the controls by the end of the experiment, when none of the treatment groups had caught up in body weight with the controls. Hyperphagia was observed for the first 2 weeks of realimenatation in fish previously fed at 3% ration, but persisted for the whole realimentation period in groups previously fed at 0.5% and 1.5% rations. None of the feed restricted groups showed improved digestibility, feed efficiency, or protein and energy retention efficiency.展开更多

A novel moving object detection method was proposed in order to adapt the difficulties caused by intermittent object motion,thermal and dynamic background sequences.Two groups of complementary Gaussian mixture models ...A novel moving object detection method was proposed in order to adapt the difficulties caused by intermittent object motion,thermal and dynamic background sequences.Two groups of complementary Gaussian mixture models were used.The ghost and real static object could be classified by comparing the similarity of the edge images further.In each group,the multi resolution Gaussian mixture models were used and dual thresholds were applied in every resolution in order to get a complete object mask without much noise.The computational color model was also used to depress illustration variations and light shadows.The proposed method was verified by the public test sequences provided by the IEEE Change Detection Workshop and compared with three state-of-the-art methods.Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is better than others for all of the evaluation parameters in intermittent object motion sequences.Four and two in the seven evaluation parameters are better than the others in thermal and dynamic background sequences,respectively.The proposed method shows a relatively good performance,especially for the intermittent object motion sequences.展开更多

The communication limitations include signal transmission dela...This paper investigates the problem of real-time estimation for one kind of linear time invariant systems which subject to limited communication capacity. The communication limitations include signal transmission delay, the out-of-sequence measurements and data packet dropout, which appear typically in a network environment. The kernel of filter design is equally to formularize the traditional Kalman filter as one linear weighted summation which is composed of the initial state estimate and all sequential sampled measurements. For it can adapt aforementioned information limitations, the linear weighted summation is then decomposed into two stages. One is a predict-estimator composed by all reached measurements, another is one compensator constructed by those time-delayed data. In the network environment, there are obvious differences between the new hybrid filter and those existing delayed Kalman filters. For example, the novel filter can be optimal in the sense of linear minimum mean square error as soon as all measurements available and has the lowest running time than these existing delayed filters. One simulation, including two cases, is utilized to illustrate the design procedures proposed in this paper.展开更多

Numerical results of solving large-scale highly-indefinite linear systems from various applications demonstrate that these techniques improve the reliability and performance of the hybrid solver and enable efficient solutions of these linear systems on hundreds of processors,which was previously infeasible using existing state-of-the-art solvers.展开更多
The present work discusses the outcomes of recent experimental tests and numerical simulations carried out on full scale reinforced concrete (RC) non-ductile frames retrofitted with dissipative steel braces, i.e. in...The present work discusses the outcomes of recent experimental tests and numerical simulations carried out on full scale reinforced concrete (RC) non-ductile frames retrofitted with dissipative steel braces, i.e. innovative buckling restrained braces (BRBs). Experimental tests were performed on two sample full scale RC framed buildings designed for gravity loads only. Such frames were subjected to cyclic pushovers to investigate their structural performance under different levels of earthquake loadings. The outcomes of the performed experimental tests demonstrate the efficiency and reliability of utilizing BRBs to retrofit non ductile RC frames. These outcomes were confirmed by refined non linear static and response history analyses carried out on an existing RC school framed building designed without seismic details and retrofitted with BRBs similar to those adopted for the tested full-scale frame. In such sample building the BRBs are placed along the perimeter of the existing frames to minimize the interruption of the functionality of the school and for easy of maintenance in the aftermath of major earthquake ground motions. The seismic performance assessment of the retrofitted structural system is illustrated in a detailed manner. Local and global response quantities are presented. The values of the global overstrength Ω for the case study vary between 2.14 and 2.54 for the retrofitted framed building. The translation ductility μ△-values range between 2.07 and 2.36. The response modification factor (or behaviour factor, namely R- or q-factor) is on average equal to 5.0. Additionally, the estimated maximum axial ductility of the BRBs is about 10. Finally, the cost-effectiveness of the adopted retrofitting scheme is emphasized and further needs for the application of BRBs are highlighted.展开更多

The paper presents the design method which is a short and correct method for the PV Hybrid system design. The result of the proposed design method is finally simulated by Homer software to optimize and prove the result. From the simulation, the output shows that the proposed method is proper for using to design the sizing of PV hybrid system. After the design, a PV hybrid system is constructed accordingly to the system design. A PV hybrid prototype is constructed as a small house which is specially constructed for demonstration of the proposed system. The PV hybrid system therefore has the size of PV 1.8 kWp, battery 20 kWh, and diesel generator 3 kW. After a long implementation of the system, the results of monitored data show that the designed PV hybrid system can deliver the power to the house continually 24 hours as it is originally designed. This can ensure that the proposed method of PV hybrid system design is correct and can be used for design the PV hybrid system for electrical utility in the remote area where has no an electric grid.展开更多

It is based on a double-balanced Gilbert cell type. With two Gilbert cells it was applied quadrature modulation. Operational ampli- tiers are used in this design to improve the conversion gain under low power consumption. The mixer design is based on 0.18txm RF CMOS process. And the mixer test results indicate that under 1.8V power supply, with input frequency 2.4 - 2.4835GHz, the conversion voltage gain is 1.2 - 2dB. When the output frequency is 2.4GHz, its power gain is -4.46dB, and its input referred 1 dB com- pression point is -11.5dBm and it consumes 1.77mA current.展开更多

This paper focuses on a power quality improvement project to solve these problems. A hybrid compensating scheme, including an active compensator and a passive compensator, is carried out. Because of the specificity of oilfield drilling electrical system, compensators are redesigned against features of this application background. And then the current detection point arrangement of this hybrid system is also taken into consideration to build the whole system much more effective and reliable.
