METHODS: Two independent serum sample sets were analysed separately with the ProteinChip technology (set A: 40 CRC + 49 healthy controls; set B: 37 CRC + 31 healthy controls), using chips with a weak cation exchange moiety and buffer pH 5. Discriminative power of differentially expressed proteins was assessed with a classification tree algorithm. Sensitivities and specificities of the generated classification trees were obtained by blindly applying data from set A to the generated trees from set B and vice versa. CRC serum protein profiles were also compared with those from breast, ovarian, prostate, and non-small cell lung cancer. RESULTS: Mass-to-charge ratios (m/z) 3.1×10^3, 3.3× 10^3, 4.5×10^3, 6.6×10^3 and 28×10^3 were used as classitiers in the best-performing classification trees. Tree sensitivities and specificities were between 65% and 90%.Host of these discriminative m/z values were also different in the other tumour types investigated. M/z 3.3× 10^3, main classifier in most trees, was a doubly charged form of the 6.6× 10^3-Da protein. The latter was identified as apolipoprotein C-I. M/z 3.1×10^3 was identified as an N-terminal fragment of albumin, and m/z 28× 10^3 as apolipoprotein A-I. CONCLUSION: SELDI-TOF MS followed by classification tree pattern analysis is a suitable technique for finding new serum markers for CRC. Biomarkers can be identified and reproducibly detected in independent sample sets with high sensitivities and specificities. Although not specific for CRC, these biomarkers have a potential role in disease and treatment monitoring.展开更多

The cleaning of optical surface by pulsed radiation from a fiber laser is an effective method that can recover optical properties of the mirror surface. The possibility of cleaning metallic mirrors from films with complex composition by pulsed radiation from a fiber laser has been experimentally researched. It has been shown that the high initial reflection characteristics of optical elements can be recovered by choosing regimes of radiation effect on the deposited surface. Efficient cleaning is ensured by radiation with the power density of less than 107 W/cm2. At this relatively low power density, pollutions are removed in a solid phase and the thermal effect on the mirror is insignificant. Preliminary experiments of the metal mirrors cleaning by fiber laser radiation have demonstrated the possibility of hardware implementation techniques.展开更多

There are some adverse effects like high rare earth accumulation and poor production efficiency during industrial production. Current researches usually focus on changing the structure of the mixer-settler without making a breakthrough towards gravity clarification. In this paper, in order to improve the efficiency of clarification, a mixer-settler with double stirring mode was designed and manufactured by adding a stirring device in the settler after reducing the volume of the settler. The innovation of this research involves adopting the ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer to investigate the quantity of aqueous phase entrainment at the settler outlet in order to measure the clarification degree. Experimental results show that the clarification effect with stirring is better than that without stirring. The clarification effect is ameliorated as the stirring speed increases. Generally, the clarification effect shows a best condition when the offset distance is 12.5 cm, making the phase entrainment reduced to less than 0.1%. When the clearance over the tank bottom is 7 cm and 10 cm, respectively, the quantity of aqueous phase entrainment is better than the case with a clearance of 4 cm. The results show that the stirring paddle close to the mixed phase zone can better promote the two-phase separation.展开更多

Serum protein fingerprint profiles were first generated by selected WCX2 protein chip capture integrating with SELDI-TOF-MS, then normalized and aligned by Ciphergen SELDI Software 3.1.1 with Biomarker Wizard..Comparative analysis of the intensity of corresponding protein fingerprint peaks in normalized protein spectra, some protein peaks with significant difference between H.CC and cirrhosis or chronic hepatitis B were found.RESULTS: One hundred and twenty-eight serum protein peaks betweeri.2000 and 30000Da were identified under the condition of signal-to-noise 〉 5 and minimum threshold for cluster 〉 20%. Eighty-seven of these proteins were showed significant differences in intensity between HCC and cirrhosis (P 〈 0.05). Of the above differential proteins, 45 proteins had changes greater than two-fold, including 15 upregulated proteins and 30 downregulated proteins i.n HCC serum. Between HCC and chronic hepatitis B, 9 of 52 differential proteins (P 〈 0.05) had intensities of more than two-fold, including 2 upregulated proteins and 7 downregulated proteins in HCC serum. Between cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis B, 28 of 79 significant differential proteins (P 〈 0.05) changes greater than two-fold in intensity, including 17 upregulated proteins and 11 downregulated proteins in cirrhosis serum. For the analysis of these leading differential proteins in subtraction difference mode among three diseases, the five common downregulated proteins in HCC serum (M/Z 2870, 3941, 2688, 3165, 5483) and two common upregulated proteins (M/Z 3588, 2017) in HCC and cirrhosis serum were screened.CONCLUSION: Because the interference of unspecific secreted proteins from hepatitis B and cirrhosis could be eliminated partly in HCC serum under subtraction difference analysis, these seven common differential proteins have the obvious advantage of specificity for evaluating the pathological state of HCC and might become novel candidate biomarkers in the diagnosis of HCC.展开更多

The experiments were conducted on a "Carosello", a structural hollow element made of clay, placed in arches, in domes or even in the walls of buildings such as churches and houses. Our results show that laser ablation techniques is able to remove the surface impurity patina from artifacts surface without changes the chemical composition and the optical properties of ceramic. Moreover, because the laser cleaning heats only locally the surface of the sample, this method don't preclude the possibility to apply on artifact the thermo-luminescence dating process.展开更多

In this study, a multi-modal feature fusion network model was constructed based on a laser paint removal experiment. The alignment of heterogeneous data under different modals was solved by combining the piecewise aggregate approximation and gramian angular field. Moreover, the attention mechanism was introduced to optimize the dual-path network and dense connection network, enabling the sampling characteristics to be extracted and integrated. Consequently, the multi-modal discriminant detection of laser paint removal was realized. According to the experimental results, the verification accuracy of the constructed model on the experimental dataset was 99.17%, which is 5.77% higher than the optimal single-modal detection results of the laser paint removal. The feature extraction network was optimized by the attention mechanism, and the model accuracy was increased by 3.3%. Results verify the improved classification performance of the constructed multi-modal feature fusion model in detecting laser paint removal, the effective integration of acoustic data and visual image data, and the accurate detection of laser paint removal.展开更多

METHODS: This is a single-center comparative effec- tiveness pilot study. Polyps (n = 103) from 75 average- risk adult outpatients undergoing screening or surveil- lance colonoscopy between December 1, 2010 and April 1, 2011 were evaluated by two participating en- doscopists in an academic outpatient endoscopy center. Polyps were evaluated both with high-definition white light and with/-SCAN to make an/n vivo prediction of adenomatous vs non-adenomatous pathology. We de- termined diagnostic characteristics of/-SCAN and high- definition white light, including sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy, with regards to identifying adenomatous vs non-adenomatous polyps. Histopathologic diagnosis was the gold standard comparison. RESULTS: One hundred and three small polyps, de- tected from forty-three patients, were included in the analysis. The average size of the polyps evaluated in the analysis was 3.7 mm (SD 1.3 mm, range 2 mm to 8 mm). Formal histopathology revealed that 54/103 (52.4%) were adenomas, 26/103 (25.2%) were hyper- plastic, and 23/103 (22.3%) were other diagnoses in- clude "lymphoid aggregates", "non-specific colitis," and "no pathologic diagnosis." Overall, the combined accu- racy of endoscopists for predicting adenomas was iden- tical between/-SCAN (71.8%, 95%CI: 62.1%-80.3%) and high-definition white light (71.8%, 95%CI: 62.1%-80.3%). However, the accuracy of each endosco- pist differed substantially, where endoscopist A demon- strated 63.0% overall accuracy (95%CI: 50.9%-74.0%) as compared with endoscopist B demonstrating 93.3% overall accuracy (95%CI: 77.9%-99.2%), irrespective of imaging modality. Neither endoscopist demonstrated a significant learning effect with i-SCAN during the study. Though endoscopist A increased accuracy using/-SCAN from 59% (95%CI: 42.1%-74.4%) in the first half to 67.6% (95%CI: 49.5%-82.6%) in the second half, and endoscopist B decreased accuracy usingi-SCAN from 100% (95%CI: 80.5%-100.0%) in the first half to 84.6% (95%CI: 54.6%-98.1%) in the second half, nei- ther of these differences were statistically significant. CONCLUSION:i-SCAN and high-definition white light had similar efficacy predicting polyp histology. Endosco- pist training likely plays a critical role in diagnostic test characteristics and deserves further study.展开更多

Methods A total of 138 patients with proximal ureteral calculi underwent ureteroscopic Ho:YAG laser lithotripsy by a single endocrinologist. Stone size varied from 10 to 15 mm. After operation, the patients were randomly divided into three groups: the control group(group A), tamsulosin group(group B), and Removing Stasis and Reducing Heat Formula group(group C). The treatment lasted for 4 weeks or until stone clearance. The primary and secondary outcomes of the three groups at follow-up were assessed. Results Of the 131 patients available for follow-up, 44 cases were in the group A, 45 in the group B, and 42 in the group C, respectively. The stone free rate at 2 weeks in the groups B and C were significantly higher than that in the group A(95.56%, 97.62% vs. 79.55%; all P<0.05). The ureteral colic rate and mean time of fragment expulsion were significantly reduced in the groups B(4.44% and 7.86±4.99 days) and C(2.43% and 6.76±4.37 days) compared with the group A(22.73% and 11.54±9.89 days, all P<0.05). On the day of double-J ureteric stent removal, the group C differed significantly from the group A in the total International Prostate Symptom Score, irritative subscore, obstructive subscore, and quality of life score(all P<0.05). Conclusion Removing Stasis and Reducing Heat Formula in the medical expulsive therapy might be an effective modality for patients with calculus in the proximal uretera after ureteroscopic Ho:YAG laser lithotripsy.展开更多

The results show that the stirring paddle close to the mixed phase zone can better promote the two-phase separation.
文摘AIM: To find out potential serum hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)-associated proteins with low molecular weight and low abundance 13y SELDI-based serum protein spectra analysis, that will have much application in the diagnosis or differentiated diagnosis of HCC, as well as giving a better understanding of the mechanism of hepato-card nogenesis.METHODS: Total serum samples were collected with informed consent from 81 HCC patients with HBV(+)/ cirrhosis(+), 36 cirrhosis patients and 43 chronic hepatitis B patients. For the analysis of these leading differential proteins in subtraction difference mode among three diseases, the five common downregulated proteins in HCC serum (M/Z 2870, 3941, 2688, 3165, 5483) and two common upregulated proteins (M/Z 3588, 2017) in HCC and cirrhosis serum were screened.CONCLUSION: Because the interference of unspecific secreted proteins from hepatitis B and cirrhosis could be eliminated partly in HCC serum under subtraction difference analysis, these seven common differential proteins have the obvious advantage of specificity for evaluating the pathological state of HCC and might become novel candidate biomarkers in the diagnosis of HCC.

文摘The binding of pefloxacin mesylate (PFLX) to bovine lactoferrin (BLf) and human serum albumin (HSA) in dilute aqueous solution was studied using fluorescence spectra and absorbance spectra. The binding constant K and the binding sites n were obtained by fluorescence quenching method. The binding distance r and energy-transfer efficiency E between pefloxacin mesylate and bovine lactoferrin as well as human serum albumin were also obtained according to the mechanism of Forster-type dipole-dipole nonradiative energy-transfer. The effects of pefloxacin mesylate on the conformations of bovine lactoferrin and human serum albumin were also analyzed using synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy.
文摘In this work, the results of a study of laser ablation cleaning process on ceramic artifacts are presented. Moreover, because the laser cleaning heats only locally the surface of the sample, this method don't preclude the possibility to apply on artifact the thermo-luminescence dating process.

文摘Laser cleaning is a highly nonlinear physical process for solving poor single-modal(e.g., acoustic or vision)detection performance and low inter-information utilization. Results verify the improved classification performance of the constructed multi-modal feature fusion model in detecting laser paint removal, the effective integration of acoustic data and visual image data, and the accurate detection of laser paint removal.
文摘Molybdenum sulfides are promising electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Sand Mo‐related species have been proposed as the active site for forming adsorbed hydrogen to initiate the HER;however, the nature of the interaction between Mo centers and S ligands is unclear.Further, the development of cost‐effective water‐splitting systems using neutral water as a proton source for H2evolution is highly desirable, whereas the mechanism of the HER at neutral pH is rarely discussed. Here, the structural change in the Mo?Mo and S?S species in a synthesized molybdenum sulfide was monitored at neutral pH using in situ electrochemical Raman spectroscopy.Analysis of the potential dependent Raman spectra revealed that the band assigned to a terminal S?S species emerged along with synchronized changes in the frequency of the Mo?Mo,Mo3?μ3S,and Mo?S vibrational bands. This indicates that Mo?Mo bonds and terminal S?S ligands play synergistic roles in facilitating hydrogen evolution, likely via the internal reorganization of trinuclear Mo3?thio species. The nature and role of metal‐ligand interactions in the HER revealed in this study demonstrated a mechanism that is distinct from those reported previously in which the S or Mo sites function independently.

文摘AIM: To evaluate accuracy of in vivo diagnosis of ad- enomatous vs non-adenomatous polyps using/-SCAN digital chromoendoscopy compared with high-definition white light. Endosco- pist training likely plays a critical role in diagnostic test characteristics and deserves further study.
文摘Objective To prospectively evaluate the efficacy of Removing Stasis and Reducing Heat Formula in accelerating calculus clearance and improving lower urinary tract symptoms of patients with proximal ureteral calculi after ureteroscopic Ho:YAG laser lithotripsy. Conclusion Removing Stasis and Reducing Heat Formula in the medical expulsive therapy might be an effective modality for patients with calculus in the proximal uretera after ureteroscopic Ho:YAG laser lithotripsy.
