According to the simulation of nitrogen sorption process in porous media with three-dimensional network model, and the analysis for such a process with percolation theory, a new method is proposed to determine a pore structure parameter--mean coordination number of pore network, which represents the connectivity among a great number of pores. Here the 'chamber-throat' model and the Weibull distribution are used to describe the pore geometry and the pore size distribution respectively. This method is based on the scaling law of percolation theory after both effects of sorption thermodynamics and pore size on the sorption hysteresis loops are considered. The results show that it is an effective procedure to calculate the mean coordination number for micro- and meso-porous media. 展开更多

To further investigate the one-dimensional(1D)rheological consolidation mechanism of double-layered soil,the fractional derivative Merchant model(FDMM)and the non-Darcian flow model with the non-Newtonian index are respectively introduced to describe the deformation of viscoelastic soil and the flow of pore water in the process of consolidation.Accordingly,an 1D rheological consolidation equation of double-layered soil is obtained,and its numerical analysis is performed by the implicit finite difference method.In order to verify its validity,the numerical solutions by the present method for some simplified cases are compared with the results in the related literature.Then,the influence of the revelent parameters on the rheological consolidation of double-layered soil are investigated.Numerical results indicate that the parameters of non-Darcian flow and FDMM of the first soil layer greatly influence the consolidation rate of double-layered soil.As the decrease of relative compressibility or the increase of relative permeability between the lower soil and the upper soil,the dissipation rate of excess pore water pressure and the settlement rate of the ground will be accelerated.Increasing the relative thickness of soil layer with high permeability or low compressibility will also accelerate the consolidation rate of double-layered soil. 展开更多

Combining with the indoor clogging tests of loose foundation in Tibet,the permeability clogging process of loose foundation was simulated based on particle flow method. Under the constant head of 2.2m, numerical micro-simulation was made in three cases,which was not adding any clogging materials,or adding the clogging materials with the diameter between 0.075-0.500 mm and 0.5-1 mm. The dynamic changes of fluid velocity,permeability coefficient,porosity and loss amount were recorded in the numerical simulation. The results have shown that fluid velocity and permeability coefficient decreased rapidly,when adding the clogging materials with the diameter between 0.5 mm and 1.0 mm. With seepage stability,fluid velocity value was very low. By using computer simulation in the two cases,we got that both cases induced clogging effect. Clogging effect was due to one of the interval of particles rather than one size,which could be seen in the phenomenon of the second case. To some extent,numerical method is useful in the study of clogging problems,which gave the same result obtained in laboratory test and simulation test. These data provided basis and reference for further study of clogging problems,and also provided a new method to study the micro-scale permeability clogging mechanism. 展开更多

This paper presented a method to create artificial fractures along the existing gas drainage borehole and increase the permeability of the coalbed using a high pressure waterjet cutting system.The field work conducted in Rujigou Colliery, Shenhua Ningxia Coal Group demonstrate that the coalbed permeability is increased, and accordingly, gas drainage efficiency is improved up to 3 to 6 times over the traditional methods using high pressure waterjet technique.Also, based on the monitoring data, the conceptual model for gas drainage process associated with different mining activities has been proposed, and few major advantages using waterjet assistance method have been identified. 展开更多

For fully understanding the hydrological dynamics of an infinite terraced slope, the infiltration process was studied by employing the Green and Ampt infiltration model. The limit equilibrium method and the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion were adopted to derive a stability model for the infinite terraced slope subjected to an intense rainfall. Numerical simulation was performed for verifying its applicability. The results of numerical simulation indicate that a set of stepped wetting fronts are found during infiltration, and the infiltration of terraced slope covered by coarse-textured soils can be approximated as one-dimensional infiltration. The potential sliding surfaces from the numerical method are all parallel to the slope line, and the proposed model and framework can provide an approximate method of estimating how the infiltration affects the stability of an infinite terraced slope. 展开更多

There are various analytical, empirical and numerical methods to calculate groundwater inflow into tun- nels excavated in rocky media. Analytical methods have been widely applied in prediction of groundwa- ter inflow to tunnels due to their simplicity and practical base theory. Investigations show that the real amount of water infiltrating into jointed tunnels is much less than calculated amount using analytical methods and obtained results are very dependent on tunnel's geometry and environmental situations. In this study, using multiple regression analysis, a new empirical model for estimation of groundwater seepage into circular tunnels was introduced. Our data was acquired from field surveys and laboratory analysis of core samples. New regression variables were defined after perusing single and two variables relationship between groundwater seepage and other variables. Finally, an appropriate model for estima- tion of leakage was obtained using the stepwise algorithm. Statistics like R, R2, R2e and the histogram of residual values in the model represent a good reputation and fitness for this model to estimate the groundwater seepage into tunnels. The new experimental model was used for the test data and results were satisfactory. Therefore, multiple regression analysis is an effective and efficient way to estimate the groundwater seeoage into tunnels. 展开更多

A particle mapping transportation algorithm was proposed on the basis of the particle-in-cell method.The particles with rectangular influence domains were employed in the transportation algorithm to reduce the numerical fluctuations.Based on the error analysis in the process of particle motion computation,a prediction-correction algorithm was introduced to improve the computational accuracy.Furthermore,the performance of the particle mapping transportation method was evaluated by using the rotation,the slotted disk and the shear advection tests,and the results were compared with other interface reconstruction methods.Finally,the hemispherical projectile penetration into a steel target was numerically simulated.The results showed that the proposed method produced less numerical fluctuations and exhibited clear material interfaces,which indicated that it is accurate and effective. 展开更多
