It has higher resolution and greater depth penetration than the direct current method and is especially fit for geothermal energy exploration and low- and mid-level groundwater detection. We introduce a successful application of high-frequency electromagnetic sounding for evaluating geothermal water resources. The high frequency electromagnetic system (MT-USA with a frequency range from 10 KHz to 1 Hz) is first applied to sample field data from China. A remote reference station is used to assure sampled data quality. We then perform 2D inversion image processing with the electrical method data. The results basically indicate the spatial distribution of underground geothermal water and provide favorable clues to finding the sources of the subsurface geothermal water in this area.展开更多

The eight springs erupt mineral water with temperatures in the range of 23-30℃ and yields in the range of 8 up to more than 40 L/s. The geothermal fluid, even though with relatively low temperatures, represent a competitive energy resource. The geothermal water flows directly to the river of Langarica, similarly with the other geothermal resources of Albania can be "translated" as "throwing in the creek" of considerable monetary values, delay in the economic development, infrastructure and also negative social impacts in the region. This paper aims to show that these waters are a competitive energy resource by the implementation of a combined and cascade system, and also they can by efficiently used for greenhouses, aquaculture and salts extraction.展开更多

The results show that there is a strong correlation between the EIWP variability and the spring precipitation in China. The area, volume and intensity indices of the EIWP are negatively correlated with the spring precipitation in southwestern China, while they are positively correlated with the spring precipitation in the rest of China, especially in the northeast. For this correlation between the EIWP variability and the spring precipitation in China, it is found that the correlative relationship is mainly connected with the variations of the moisture transport by the warm air flow, which is under the influence of the EIWP variability, into the inland of China in spring. Two causative factors may influence this transport. One is the variation of the moisture transport carried by the warm air flow from the Arabian Sea influenced by the EIWP variability. The other is the variation of the equator-crossing flow (70°-90°E) influenced by the EIWP anomaly in the previous winter which exerts its effect on the moist warm air transported from the Southern Hemisphere. The position and intensity of the Western North Pacific Subtropical High (WNPSH)variability caused by EIWP variation also influence the spring precipitation in China.展开更多

The library consisted of approximately 9,000 clones and was screened for protease activity. A clone exhibiting protease activity was identified and named CHprol. Sequencing of CHprol revealed that the ORF encoded a functional protein of 363 amino acids belonging to peptidase S8-S53 superfamily. CHprol shared 41% sequence similarity with a reported protease (subtilase family) and 35 % structural similarity with the crystal structure of Pro-Tk sps. of Thermococcus kodarkaenasis. In silico modeling the 3D structure of CHprol showed that it has two beta sheets, 10 alpha helices and 11 strands. Catalytic triad prediction implied CHprol to be a serine protease. The optimum temperature and pH of the purified protease were found to be 80 ℃ and 11.0, respectively. The enzyme was active at 5 % concentration of hydrogen peroxide and retained 60 % of activity at 10 % concentration. The thermotolerant, alkalophilic and oxidant stable properties of the protease make it a potential can- didate for biotechnological applications.展开更多
