Thermodynamics analyses on the interactive reactions among related species in the system were made before the experiments. Some fundamental experiments for extracting vanadium by FeClx as chlorinating agent were conducted over the temperature range of 900-1300 K under air or oxygen atmosphere. The results show that vanadium can be extracted by the selective chlorination, using FeClx, based on thermodynamic analysis and experiment. Vanadium extraction ratio first increases with the increase of temperature, and then decreases with the increase of temperature over the range of 900-1300 K under air or oxygen atmosphere. The higher molar ratio of FeCI3 to oxides (nchl:noxd) reacting with FeC13, the higher ratio of vanadium extraction. Under oxygen atmosphere, the vanadium extraction ratio is up to 32% at 1100 K for 2 h by using FeCI3 as chlorinating agent.展开更多

In the test, 50-gram of coal sample ranged from 0.18 mm to 0.38 mm was put into a special designed copper reaction vessel and let pure nitrogen to flow into the coal sample from the bottom at a rate of 100 mL/min. The programmed temperature enclosure was run at a programmed rate of 0.8 ~C/min. The concentration of the carbon oxides and the coal temperature were tested. The results show that the coal reactions under inert atmosphere can generate CO and C02. The reactions under inert atmosphere are affected by coal ranks, initial pore structure of coal and sulfur content. For low ranks of coal, the productions of carbon oxides are piecewise. The coal temperature is lower than the surrounding temperature throughout the reactions under inert atmosphere, but it rises quickly and reaches a crossing point temperature in the later stage under dry-air atmosphere. Based on the analysis, it indicates the self-reaction of initial active groups exists in the self-heating of coal besides the reactions in the two parallel reactions model. Spontaneous combustion of coal is due to both the oxidation heat accumulation and the chain reaction. A new reaction model of self-heating of coal was orooosed.展开更多

The crystalline structuresand morphologies of BNdT films were characterized by X-ray diffraction and field-emission scanning electron microscopy, and thegas sensing properties were measured by monitoring its resistance at different gas concentrations. The results indicate that the BNdTfilms annealed in air are of porous microstructure and rough surface, and the annealing atmosphere has great influence on gas sensingproperties. At an operating temperature of 100 °C, the BNdT films annealed in air are of high response value to 1×10?6 gaseousethanol, and the detecting limit is as low as 0.1×10?6. The corresponding response and recovery time is about 10 and 6 s, respectively. The results can offer useful guidelines for fabricating high performance ethanol sensors.展开更多

Pyrolysis tests showed that the mass loss profiles were almost similar up to 870℃ ha both N2 and CO2 atmospheres, while further mass loss occurred ha CO2 atmosphere at higher temper- atures due to char-CO2 gasification. Replacement of N2 ha the combustion environment by CO2 delayed the com- bustion of bituminous coal. At elevated oxygen levels, TG/DTG profiles shifted through lower temperature zone, ignition and burnout temperatures decreased and mass loss rate significantly increased and complete combustion was achieved at lower temperatures and shorter times. Kinetic analysis for the tested coal was performed using Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose (KAS) method. The activation energies of bituminous coal combustion at the similar oxygen content in oxy-fuel with that of air were higher than that in air atmosphere. The results indicated that, with O2 concentration increasing, the activation energies decreased.展开更多

The effects of different calcination temperatures and atmospheres on the mineral composition of activated coal gangue were investigated by X-ray diffraction. Moreover, the acid leaching kinetics of aluminum oxide from coal gangue was investigated with sulfuric acid. It showed that the air atmosphere promoted kaolinite decomposition during coal gangue calcination. The hydrogen atmosphere promoted the activation and decomposition of kaolinite at reaction temperatures exceeding 650℃. The carbon dioxide atmosphere eliminated the influence of residual carbon on coal gangue. When the ratio of acid/coal gangue was 1.5 and reaction temperature was 650℃, the sulfuric acid leaching rate under air, air-hydrogen, carbon dioxide, hydrogen and nitrogen atmospheres were 93.66%, 90.90%, 84.06%, 81.91% and 77.54% respectively. The acid leaching reaction process conformed to unreacted shrinking core model of particle unchanged, and was controlled by the interracial chemical reaction. The reaction kinetic equation for the leaching process was 1-(1-x)1/3=kt with an apparent activation energy of 48.97 kJ/mol.展开更多

It is indicated that Si_3N_4, NbN, Fe_2 Al B and B_(13)C_2 are generated as new phases at the interface between the melt and substrate, and reactive wetting behaviour exists during the heating process. The surface tensions of two alloy melts on BN substrate both firstly decrease and then increase along with increasing temperature, leading to V-shaped surface tension versus temperature, which results from atomic diffusion effects in the surface layer during the oxidation of BN and formation of C-rich layer. Comparably, the surface tensions on Al_2O_3 and Si C substrates decrease with increasing temperature throughout the entire temperature range. Among three substrates, BN exhibits the mildest wetting behaviour. The vacuum environment has the strongest protective effect on melt stability among the tested atmospheres. These findings enrich our knowledge about the effects of the substrate and atmosphere on Fe-based alloy melts at a high temperature, and provide theoretical reference for designing jet nozzles in melt-spinning techniques.展开更多
