The method makes a full analysis of the factors which influence test parameters:compression ratio, test application time, and area overhead. To improve the compression ratio, the new method is based on variable-to-variable run length codes, and a novel algorithm is proposed to reorder the test vectors and fill the unspecified bits in the pre-processing step. With a novel on-chip decoder, low test application time and low area overhead are obtained by hybrid run length codes. Finally, an experimental comparison on ISCAS 89 benchmark circuits validates the proposed method展开更多

Rice-Fish Systems (RFS) in Longxian village of China, as a traditional agricultural system, was selected as one of the five pilot sites of GIAHS in 2005. Researchers have paid more attention to the dynamic conser-vation and adaptive management of RFS because it is under severe threats from global development challenges. Tourism is suggested to be brought into the RFS conservation program as an alternative industry. This paper presents a comparative study of residents in three types of farm household in Longxian, seeking attitudes to the RFS conservation and tourism development and ways in which such information may guide future strategies. Results show resi-dents, belonging to the household type in which most family mem-bers are abroad, have the most positive attitudes to RFS conserva-tion and tourism development; while residents, as other household type in which less than 50% of family members are abroad, are the least sensitive group in these three household types, due to the motivation of moving abroad weakening their enthusiasm to participate in the local activities. Implications are discussed in the context of how resident attitudes will affect the future manage-ment of GIAHS conservation and tourism development, and then measures are put forward to foster tourism cooperation and multi-stakeholders process establishment.展开更多

The established model comprised seven state variables(DIN,PO4-P,DON,DOP,phytoplankton,zooplankton and detritus) and five modules - phytoplankton, zooplankton, dissolved inorganic nutrients, dissolved organic nutrients and detritus. Comparison with the in situ experimental data in Laizhou Bay at the end of August 2002 showed that this model could properly simulate the variations of DIN,PO4-P,and phytoplankton biomass in a mesocosm pelagic ecosystem. It was found that not only the model structure but also the parameters adopted were fit for simulation. The sensitivity of the main state variables to the parameter change was assessed by sensitivity analysis. All these results are useful for studying the control mechanism of biogeochemical cycling of nutrients in Laizhou Bay and other Chinese coastal waters.展开更多

Although its importance is well-established, iterative usability testing is often forgone. Further, serious games present unique challenges that they must be usable, enjoyable, and effective. It is necessary that the game's design is evaluated at several stages during development to ensure that all of these objectives are met. A model for incorporating usability testing into development that addresses these three elements is presented, along with guidelines for implementation focused specifically on small serious games development teams. By applying this model to development should ensure that developers are able to efficiently produce more effective serious games.展开更多

A scaled model of the hull form with the keel-bulb configuration has been tested in the towing tank of the LSMH of NTUA. During the tests the calm water resistance and the dynamic responses, including the added resistance in waves were recorded. Results referring to the resistance, the side force, the CG displacement, the pitch as well as the vertical accelerations of the model at the bow, the CG and the stern are presented. Moreover, by using a Velocity Prediction Program the polar and the stability diagram of the tested sailing yacht were calculated. Useful conclusions about the dynamic behavior of the model were obtained.展开更多

The puposes of this study are to evaluate: (1) the optimum condition of lipase in the pankreoflat tablet, (2) the effect of watermelon endocarp extract in inhibition the lipase activity, and (3) the effectiveness of watermelon endocarp extract as lipase inhibitor relative to the hypolipidemic drugs (orlistat). Watermelon endocarp was extracted by blender, squeezed and filtered. As a source of lipase has been used pankreoflat (Kimia Farina) tablet, inhibition test was performed by mixing 35 mL with substrate (olive oil) that has been coupled with one tablet (0.25 g) ofpankreoflat and extract of 50 g watermelon endocarp and then incubated at 37℃, pH 7.5 for 25 minutes. Lipase activity is indicated by the amount ofNaOH titrant which was used to neutralize the free fatty acid from hydrolysis of olive oil. The results showed that 50 g of watermelon endocarp can produce 26 mL extract and decrease the lipase activity by 70.34%, or equivalent to 85% of the effectiveness of one tablet orlistat (120 mg), one of the hypolipidemic drugs.展开更多
