Therefore, introducing mobile collectors to collect data instead of nmlti-hop data relay is essential. However, for rmny proposed data gathering ap-proaches, long data deNNy is the train problenm. Hence, the problem of how to decrease the energy consumption and the data deNNy needs to be solved. In this paper, a low deNNy data collection mechanism using multiple mobile collectors is pro- posed. First, a self-organization clustering algorithm is designed. Second, sensor nodes are organized into three-level clusters. Then a collection strategy based on the hierarchical structure is proposed, which includes two rules to dispatch mobile collec- tors rationally. Simulation results show that the proposed mechanism is superior to other existing approaches in terms of the reduction in energy ex-penditure and the decrease in data deNNy.展开更多

This study thus examines the determinants of conservation practices adoption by farming households in the area. Data for the study were collected from 445 households located in 15 communities in Northern Ghana. Univariate, bivariate and multivariate probit models were used to analyse the decision to adopt six conservation practices in the area. Results show that the major determinants of adoption are plot and cropping characteristics such as location; and socio-economic and institutional variables such as number of contacts with extension officers, membership in farmer association and distance to major market. A policy implication of the study is the strengthening of extension service in the area to significantly boost conservation adootion.展开更多

For power quality improvement, the CC-VSI works as a grid current-controller shunt active power filter. Then, the PV array supported by the Hill- Climbing maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller is coupled to the DC bus of the CC-VSI. The output of the MPPT controller is a DC voltage that determines the DC-bus voltage according to the PV maximum power. From computer simulation results, the CC-VSI is able to compensate for the harmonic and reactive power as well as to extract the PV maximum power.展开更多

Until now, simultaneous monitoring of NPSP and SE is difficult due to the intertwined effects of crop type, topography and management in these areas. In this study, we developed a new integrated method to simultaneously monitor SE and NPSP in an intensive agricultural area(about 6 000 km2) of Nanjing in eastern China, based on meteorological data,a geographic information system database and soil and water samples, and identified the main factors contributing to NPSP and SE by calculating the NPSP and SE loads in different sub-areas. The levels of soil total nitrogen(TN), total phosphorus(TP), available nitrogen(AN) and available phosphorus(AP) could be used to assess and predict the extent of NPSP and SE status in the study area. The most SE and NPSP loads occurred between April to August. The most seriously affected area in terms of SE and NPSP was the Jiangning District, implying that the effective management of SE and NPSP in this area should be considered as a priority. The sub-regions with higher vegetation coverage contributed to less SE and NPSP, confirming the conclusions of previous studies, namely that vegetation is an effective factor controlling SE and NPSP. Our quantitative method has both high precision and reliability for the simultaneous monitoring of SE and NPSP occurring in intensive agricultural areas.展开更多
