The mechanism of vibration reduction and support characteristics are analyzed and a friction damper is designed. The effect on an unbalanced response is studied. Results show that the stiffness factor and the friction-damping factor of the damper are related to the cone angle and the friction factor of the inner-ring when adopting a proper structure. By changing these parameters and the Z-directional stiffness of the outer-ring, the stiffness and the damping characteristic of the damper can be varied. Introducing a friction damper into the support can reduce the stiffness and increase the damping of the support, thus decreasing the critical speed to avoid the operating speed, suppress the resonant response of a rotor system, and attenuate vibration forces to the outside.展开更多

In order to systematically investigate the inner wall bending stress of the rolling element in elastic composite cylindrical roller bearing, finite element analysis on different elastic composite cylindrical rolling elements was conducted. The rolling element bearing IRF can be accurately estimated according to the instantaneous fault characteristic frequency(IFCF). However, in an environment with a low signal-to-noise ratio(SNR), e.g., an incipient fault or function at a low speed, the signal contains strong background noise that seriously affects the effectiveness of the aforementioned method. An algorithm of signal preprocessing based on empirical mode decomposition(EMD) and wavelet shrinkage was proposed in this work. Compared with EMD denoising by the cross-correlation coefficient and kurtosis(CCK) criterion, the method of EMD soft-thresholding(ST) denoising can ensure the integrity of the signal, improve the SNR, and highlight fault features. The effectiveness of the algorithm for rolling element bearing IRF estimation by EMD ST denoising and the IFCF was validated by both simulated and experimental bearing vibration signals at a low SNR.展开更多

A number of additional loads have been identified by means of tests with rolling bearings. These can be small direct currents as a result of electrostatic charge or large alternating currents from inverter-fed drives that unintentionally flow through the bearing. WEC damages can also be initiated by a pure mechanical additional load which is dependent on factors including the bearing kinematics but also on the dynamics of the drive train. Concerning TRB (tapered roller bearings), this motion generates forces that are transmitted to the outer ring by the tapered rollers. Thus, contact stresses occur and the number of rollers plays a major role with respect to the load distribution. This influence is analyzed in this study by the FEM (finite element method) with commercial code ABAQUS, where two models were evaluated: a common TRB and the same one but with fewer rollers. As an application, a manual automotive transmission was considered for the input loads.展开更多

The plant model is the optimised finite element model of pipeline dynamics considering unsteady laminar friction. A steady-state Kalman filter is built based on the model of pipeline dynamics. Pressure signals at both ends of a target section of a pipe are input to the model of pipeline dynamics, and as an output of the model an estimated pressure signal at a mid-point of the pipe is obtained. Difference between measured and estimated pressure signals at the mid-point is fed back to the model of pipeline dynamics to modify state variables of the model. According to the Kalman filter principle, the state variables of the model are adjusted so that they converge to real values. It is demonstrated that real-time implementation of the Kalman filter is possible with the sampling time of 0.1 ms.展开更多

A nonlinear dynamic model of a deep groove ball bearing with five degrees of freedom is developed for numerical analysis under increased radial clearances which are due to not only the scenarios of bearing grades but also gradual wear with bearing service lifetime. The model incorporates local defects and clearance increments in order to gain the insight into the bearing dynamics under different fault cases along with clearance changes. Numerical results show that the vibrations at fault characteristic frequencies exhibit clear inconsistency with common understandings for different cases of increased clearances. This study highlights that it has to take into account the clearance effect, especially for the inner race fault, in order to avoid the under-estimate of fault sizes which may be indicated by the feature amplitude reduction.展开更多

文摘In roller bearings, the outer ring is usually fixed and the inner ring has the rolling motion. As an application, a manual automotive transmission was considered for the input loads.

文摘The influences of subsurface cracks, distributing along the axial direction,on the rolling contact fatigue(RCF)faliure in a bearing ring are investigated.A realistic three-dimensional model of the bearing ring containing three subsurface cracks is used to evaluate the fatigue crack propagation based on stress intensity factor(SIF)calculations. Moreover, the distributions of the subsurface cracks along the axial direction are varied to study their effects on RCF.The results provide valuable guidelines for enhanced understanding of RCF in bearings.
文摘A Kalman filter which estimates unsteady laminar flow in a pipe is implemented on a real-time computing system. It is demonstrated that real-time implementation of the Kalman filter is possible with the sampling time of 0.1 ms.
文摘This paper presents investigations into the influences of bearing clearances on the diagnostic features of monitoring rolling-bearings. This study highlights that it has to take into account the clearance effect, especially for the inner race fault, in order to avoid the under-estimate of fault sizes which may be indicated by the feature amplitude reduction.
