Two problems were solved: firstly, because the GPS real-time deformation series with a high sampling rate contain coloured noise, the multiple Kalman filter model requires the white noise, and the multiple Kalman filters model is augmented by a shaping filter in order to reduce the colored noise; secondly, the multiple Kalman filters model with shaping filter can detect the deformation epoch in real-time and improve the quality of GPS measurements for the real-time deformation applications. Based on the comparisons of the applications in different GPS time series with different models, the advantages of the proposed model were illustrated. The proposed model can reduce the colored noise, detect the smaller changes, and improve the precision of the detected deformation epoch.展开更多

In this work, empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is proposed to deal with ultrasonic signal. A time-frequency filtering method based on EMD is designed to suppress noise and enhance flaw signals. Simulated results are presented, showing that the proposed method has an excellent performance even for a very low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The improvement in flaw detection was experimentally verified using stainless steel pipe sample with artificial flaws.展开更多

Continuous vertical-component waveforms of some broadband stations in the few months before the Wenchuan and Lushan earthquakes are processed by applying a bandpass filter in 2- 8Hz,and then converted to envelopes with a smoothing time of 10 s window and a median filter with a 20 min window. As a result,teleseismic,long-period noise and local small earthquakes are removed, the filtered amplitude is obviously larger than that of the noise and lasts for a dozen minutes to several hours during a few days in a few stations before the Wenchuan and Lushan earthquakes, respectively. The waveform and envelope are similar to that of a non-volcanic tremor( NVT). There are suspected NVT before the two earthquakes. Preliminary application demonstrates that this algorithm is potentially useful for extracting NVT signals from continuous seismic waveforms.展开更多

The design aims at implementing the optimal trade-off between robustness of unknown inputs (including the item produced by networked-induced delay) and sensitivity of fault. The key design issue is to introduce an optimal fault detection filter based on NCSs with the control law compensation as the reference residual model of NCSs and to formulate the RFDF design as a model-matching problem. By applying H∞ optimization technique, linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach is given to solve the model-matching problem. The validity of the proposed approach is shown by a numerical example.展开更多
