First, radar imaging model and super-resolution reconstruction mechanism were outlined. Then, the adaptive-threshold SVD super-resolution algorithm, and its two key aspects, namely the determination method of point spread function (PSF) matrix T and the selection scheme of singular value threshold, were presented. Finally, the super-resolution algorithm was demonstrated successfully using the measured synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) images, and a Monte Carlo assessment was carried out to evaluate the performance of the algorithm by using the input/output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Five versions of SVD algorithms, namely 1 ) using all singular values, 2) using the top 80% singular values, 3) using the top 50% singular values, 4) using the top 20% singular values and 5) using singular values s such that S2≥/max(s2)/rinsNR were tested. The experimental results indicate that when the singular value threshold is set as Smax/(rinSNR)1/2, the super-resolution algorithm provides a good compromise between too much noise and too much bias and has good reconstruction results.展开更多

The characteristics of this method are the use of position distribution func-tion, which could distinguish between most isomers including cis or trans structure of organic compounds. Contri-butions for hydrocarbons and hydrocarbon derivatives containing oxygen, nitrogen, chlorine, bromine and sulfur, are given. Results are compared with those by the most commonly used estimating methods. The average derivation for prediction of normal melting temperature of 730 compounds is 14.46 K, compared to 29.33 K with the method of Joback, and 27.81 K with the method of Constantinou-Gani. The present method is not only more accurate, but also much simpler and more stable.展开更多

The objective is to build a nonparametric forecasting model of an individual's Willingness To Pay according to geographical location. Within this framework, an estimator (of type Nadaraya-Watson) is proposed for the regression of the variable related to geolocation. The specific characteristics of the location variable lead us to a more general regression model than the traditional models. Results are established for convergence of our estimator.展开更多

The method uses a new robust estimation method of constructing seed regions and a new method of orientating regions or surfaces. The robust estima- tion method selects good seed regions from candidate regions generated randomly in a structured neighborhood. The orienta- tion method uses transition vectors from which include angles of adjacent normal vectors are not greater than 90~ and thus can be orientated correctly crossing sharp features or close-by opposite surfaces. The region-based method consists of two levels of segmentation: planar segmentation and quadric segmentation, both of which produce consistent surfaces. The quadric segmen- tation fits general quadrics by 3 L fitting algorithm in its region growing process and can take consistent planar surfaces as ini- tials. Experimental results show that the robust estimation method has higher probability of success than the traditional one and the orientation method works well. Experimental results also demonstrate the applicability of our method to various data.展开更多
