What's more, in treatment A, the cured tobac- cos are softer and brighter, with more oil content and higher proportion of first-class tobaccos. Per leaf weight increased by 0.13 g and output value per kang (a heat- able brick bed) deducting energy cost grew by 188.66 yuan. Pitch and TiB2/C green composite cathode material were respectively analyzed with simultaneous DSC-TGA, and effects of three baking processes of TiB2/C composite cathode material, i.e. K25, K5 and M5, on properties of TiB2/C composite cathode material were investigated. The results show that thermogravimetrie behavior of pitch and TiB2/C green composite cathode is similar, and appears the largest mass loss rate in the temperature range from 200 to 600 ℃. The bulk density variation of sample K5 before and after baking is the largest (11.9%), that of sample K25 is the second, and that of sample M5 is the smallest (6.7%). The crushing strength of sample M5 is the biggest (51.2 MPa), that of sample K2.5 is the next, and that of sample K5 is the smallest (32.8 MPa). But, the orders of the electrical resistivity and electrolysis expansion of samples are just opposite with the order of crushing strength. The heating rate has a great impact on the microstructure of sample. The faster the heating rate is, the bigger the pore size and porosity of sample are. Compared with the heating rate between 200 and 600℃ of samples K25 and K5, that of sample M5 is slower and suitable for baking process of TiB2/C composite cathode material. 展开更多

Using Wheat Futures to Stabilize the Cost of Raw Material in Bakery Sector

The article presents the example of using relations between the price of wheat flour sold by the milling companies and the price of wheat futures listed on the FOREX market to protect the companies from bakery sector against adverse price movements of raw material--wheat flour. The paper aims to present a method which can help to reduce risk of changes wheat flour price in the market by using wheat futures traded at FOREX market. For the analysis authors used weekly data since January 2006 until October 2010 about wheat flour price, wheat grain price, wheat futures prices, quotes a currency pair USD/PLN. Wheat flour prices came from studies of the Department of Agricultural Markets, Ministry of Agriculture, and Rural Development in Poland and represented the average sales price of wheat flour by milling companies. Information about wheat futures and quotes a currency pair USD/PLN reflects the actual trading of the FOREX market. Authors used statistical analysis tool for determining the strength of the relationship between the price of wheat flour and the wheat price on the domestic market and the wheat futures price. The correlation coefficient between them was 0.763. For further test authors used seven different options that use future contracts to reduce fluctuations in the flour price which can be used in bakery businesses. These results of research show that someone can effectively use wheat futures contracts listed on the FOREX market to protect the bakery business against adverse movements of wheat flour prices. Application in practice chosen strategies can allow bakery companies to achieve cost advantages by reducing the adverse changes in the wheat flour prices. Chosen strategies are more efficient if the prices of flour in the domestic market are rising. If prices drop down, the effectiveness of using wheat futures contracts was lower. It should be noted that wheat futures contracts are a good tool to achieve cost advantages in the bakery industry, especially when the wheat flour prices are increased on the domestic market. 展开更多

One of the most important properties of the torrefied pellets, along with high calorific value, is their hydrophobicity. Inability to absorb moisture and self-destruct under its influence determine possibility of using of pellets in the pyrolysis reactor. For the technology of two-stage thermal processing of biomass, developed at the Joint Institute for High Temperatures, the amount of synthesis gas which can be obtained from one kilogram of torrefied pellets is also important. A construction of the pilot torrefaction reactor powered by flue gas is shown. The results of experimental investigations of hydrophobicity of torrefied pellets produced by the reactor and quantity of synthesis gas which can be obtained by two-stage thermal processing of the pellets are presented. It is shown that torrefaction allows simplifying the process of conversion of pellets into synthesis gas without significant reduction in the volume of the gas. 展开更多
