It was found that the aminated hypercrosslinked resins had the highest adsorption capacities among the tested polymers. The empirical Freundlich equation was successfully employed to describe the adsorption process. Specific surface area and micropore structure of the adsorbent, in company with tertiary amino groups on matrix affected the adsorption performance towards catechol. In addition, thermodynamic study was carried out to interpret the adsorption mechanism. Kinetic study testified that the tertiary amino groups on the polymer matrix could decrease the adsorption rate and increase the adsorption apparent activation energy.展开更多

Heating failure was simulated by decreasing temperature suddenly from 55 ℃ to 20 ℃ suddenly, 2 h time is needed for temperature decrease and recovery. Under the conditions of 8.0 g/(L·d) and 15 d respectively for MOSW load and retention time, following results were noted: (1) biogas production almost stopped and VFA (volatile fatty acid) accumulated rapidly, accompanied by pH decrease; (2) with low temperature (20 ℃) duration of 1, 5, 12 and 24 h, it took 3, 11, 56 and 72 h for the thermophilic anaerobic digestion system to reproduce methane after temperature fluctuation, (3) the longer the low temperature interval lasted, the more the methanogenic bacteria would decay, hydrolysis, acidification and methanogenesis were all influenced by temperature fluctuation: (4) the thermophilic microorganisms were highly resilient to temperature fluctuation.展开更多

Mass spectroscopy was used to detect the products of sonolytic degradation of 2-chlorobiphenyl. The results show that the products of sonolytic degradation, such as biphenyl, ethyl benzene, diethylbiphenyl, dibutylbiphenyl, phenol, propylphenol and di-tert-butyl phenol are produced by thermolysis and hydroxyl free radical reactions, in which biphenyl counts for almost 40%(mole fraction) of the mother compound and others are at trace level. Rapid accumulation of chloride ion shows quick dechlorination, and 78% organic chlorine is converted into chloride ion. Free radical scavengers, bicarbonate and carbonate, decrease the reaction rate of sonolytic degradation of 2-chlorobiphenyl significantly, and the pseudo 1st order rate constant of sonolytic degradation of 2-chlorobiphenyl decreases linearly with the natural logarithm of the concentration of the added free radical scavenger, showing that the pyrolysis and hydroxyl free radical reaction are the two major pathways for the sonolytic degradation of 2-chlorobiphenyl, in which the hydroxyl radical concentration is estimated to be 1×10-10 (mol/L.)展开更多
