The circular-ring turbulators were individually employed and together with the twisted tape swirl generators in the heated section of the tube. Three different pitch ratios (I/D = 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0) of the CRT and three different twist ratios (y/W= 3, 4, and 5) of the TT were introduced. The experiments were conducted using air as the working fluid under a uniform wall heat flux condition, for the Reynolds number between 6000 and 20000. The experimental results reveal that the heat transfer rate, friction factor and thermal performance factor of the combined CRT and qT are considerably higher than those of CRT alone. For the range examined, the Sncreases of mean Nusselt number, friction factor and thermal performance, in the tube equipped with combined devices, respectively, are 25.8%, 82.8% and 6.3% over those in the tube with the CRT alone. The highest thermal performance factor of 1.42 is found for the combined device consisting of the CRT with l/D = 1.0 and TT with y/W= 3. The correlations of the Nusselt number, friction factor and thermal performance factor of the tubes with combined devices are also developed in terms of Reynolds number, Prandtl number, twist ratio and pitch ratio.展开更多

The crystalline phases and the microstructure of the glass-ceramics were investigated by using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The results show that the glass based on Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2 oxides using P2O5 as nucleator can be prepared at lower melt temperature of 1 450 ℃ and the glass-ceramics with lower thermal expansion coefficient of 21.6×10-7 ℃-1 can also be obtained at 750 ℃. The glass-ceramics contain a few crystal phases in which the main crystal phase is β-quartz solid solution and the second crystal phase is β-spodumene solid solution. When the heat treatment temperature is not higher than 650 ℃, the transparent glass-ceramics containing β-quartz solid solution can be prepared. β-quartz solid solution changes into β-spodumene solid solution at about 750 ℃. And the appearance of the glass-ceramics changes from translucent, part opaque to complete opaque with increasing (temperature.)展开更多

Respect to this necessity, in the current investigation a feed-forward artificial neural network(ANN) model is examined to correlate the liquid thermal conductivity of normal and aromatic hydrocarbons at the temperatures range of 257–338 K and atmospheric pressure. For this purpose, 956 experimental thermal conductivities for normal and aromatic hydrocarbons are collected from different previously published literature.During the modeling stage, to discriminate different substances, critical temperature(Tc), critical pressure(Pc)and acentric factor(ω) are utilized as the network inputs besides the temperature. During the examination, effects of different transfer functions and number of neurons in hidden layer are investigated to find the optimum network architecture. Besides, statistical error analysis considering the results obtained from available correlations and group contribution methods and proposed neural network is performed to reliably check the feasibility and accuracy of the proposed method. Respect to the obtained results, it can be concluded that the proposed neural network consisted of three layers namely, input, hidden and output layers with 22 neurons in hidden layer was the optimum ANN model. Generally, the proposed model enables to correlate the thermal conductivity of normal and aromatic hydrocarbons with absolute average relative deviation percent(AARD), mean square error(MSE), and correlation coefficient(R^2) of lower than 0.2%, 1.05 × 10^(-7) and 0.9994, respectively.展开更多

The equipment is composed of a heat pump, frequency pumps, an electric tee joint regulator valve, some sensors, an electric control system, data acquisition and control system, which can do tests under the condition of extracting and storing subsurface heat. Applying the line source and the cylinder source heat transfer model, and combining the parameters estimation, the average thermophysieal property parameters of rock and soil will be calculated, which provides the basis for designing the ground source heat pump systems.展开更多

To confirm the calculations, the results were compared to experimental data obtained from the HELIOS facility at the Seoul National University and to the results of other benchmark participants. The comparison showed that the calculations are within measurement tolerance but nevertheless discrepancies among the participants exist. The pressure drop estimation is determined by a variety of empirical correlations for the friction and the form loss coefficients. Hence, uncertainty and sensitivity measures were applied to find out which parameter is more relevant for the overall pressure drop. In the frame of this investigation, the system code TRACE and the software system for uncertainty and sensitivity, SUSA, were used. The results show that the total pressure drop varies between -30 and +15% related to the reference case.展开更多
