Xanthophyll cycle-dependent photo-protection is believed to be the main mechanism for plants to deal with excessive light energy. This review focuses on molecular biological aspects and regulations of violaxanthin de-epoxidase and zeaxanthin epoxidase involved in xanthophyll cycle. We will summarize the functions of xanthophyll cycle, especially recent advances in its thermal dissipation mechanism of photoprotection. Some interesting issues deserving further study will be discussed.展开更多

The protection of motor has mainly developed in three stages: thermal relay, electronic integrated protector, and microcomputer protector. In terms of sampling methods, the protection can be divided into two types: (1) the sampling current detection, which is implemented using a thermal relay with circuit breaker for the thermomagnetic tripping motor protection, and an electronic and solid state relay with circuit breaker and sof~ starter for the thermomagnetic tripping motor protection; (2) the sampling temperature detection, which is to directly detect electromotor winding temperature using bimetallic strip temperature relay, thermal protector, detecting coil, and heat resistance temperature relay. However, the second method is very expensive and difficult to maintain because a motor winding is necessary to directly bury, so it is used only in the cases requiring some frequent operations. Finally, the harmonious cooperation between overload protection device and motor or between overload protection device and short circuit protection device must be considered regardless of the protection device model.展开更多

A general concept is proposed which utilizes the flow disturbances generated passively in the nosed subsonic region to weaken the detached shock wave. Several aspects are mainly studied, including shock shape and standoff distance, surface heat flux and pressure, flowfield feature and cooling mechanism. The numerical results indicate that shock strength and standoff distance increase with an increase in the L/D ratio of the cavity. Interestingly, a bulge structure of the detached shock associated with a deep cavity is observed for the first time. Local surface heat flux and pressure around the concave nose are much lower respectively than those at the stagnation point of the baseline model. In addition, both surface heat and pressure reductions are proportional to the L/D ratio. A negative heating phenomenon may occur in the vicinity of a sharp lip or on the base wall of a deep cavity. If the L/D ratio exceeds 0.7, the detached shock appears as a self-sustained oscillation which can be referred to as the cooling mechanism.展开更多
