In this study, the impacts of TC inflow angle on ocean surface waves were investigated using a high-resolution wave model. Six numerical experiments were conducted to examine, in detail, thc effects of inflow angle on mean wave parameters and the spectrum of wave directions. A comparison of the waves simulated in these experiments shows that inflow angle significantly modifies TC-induced ocean surface waves. As the inflow angle increases, the asymmetric axis of the significant wave height (SWH) field shifts 30° clockwise, and the maximum SWH moves from the front-right to the rear-right quadrant. Inflow angle also affects other mean wave parameters, especially in the rear-left quadrant, such as the mean wave direction, the mean wavelength, and the peak direction. Inflow angle is a key factor in wave models for the reproduction of double-peak or multi-peak patterns in the spectrum of wave directions. Sensitivity experiments also show that the simulation with a 40° inflow angle is the closest to that of the NOAA statistical SLOSH inflow angle. This suggests that 40° can be used as the inflow angle in future TC-induced ocean surface wave simulations when SLOSH or observed inflow angles are not available.展开更多

Operating conditions included pressures of 18–21 MPa, mass fluxes of 475–1000 kg·m^(-2)·s^(-1), inlet subcooling temperatures of 3–5°C, and wall heat fluxes of 40–960 kW·m^(-2). Tube wall temperature distribution and heat transfer performance in different test conditions were obtained. The effects of the operating parameters on CHF were analyzed. Four heat transfer coefficient correlations were evaluated against our experimental data for further investigation of the two-phase heat transfer characteristics. A heat transfer correlation based on Martinelli number utilized in two-phase region and two empirical correlations used to predict the CHF in rifled tube at near-critical pressures were proposed. Meanwhile, experimental CHF data in rifled tube were compared with six widely used correlations and a CHF look-up table. The CHF enhancement effect in rifled tube is obvious as compared with the CHF data in smooth tube. Results show that DNB occurs at low vapor quality and subcooled region in the rifled tube at near-critical pressures. The increase in pressure leads to the early occurrence of DNB and the decrease in CHF, whereas the increase in mass flux delays the occurrence of DNB and results in the increase in CHF. DNB presents a tendency to move toward the inlet of the rifled tube. At individual operating conditions, DNB and dryout coexist at different sections of the rifled tube.展开更多

The mini-channel was with 2 mm wide and 1 mm deep and 900 mm long. The material of the mini-channel was stainless. The working fluid was deionized water. The experiments were conducted with the conditions of inlet pressure in the range of 0.2~0.5 MPa, mass flux in the range of 196.57-548.96 kg/m2 s, and the outlet vapor quality in the range of 0.2 to 1. The heat flux was in the range of 292.86 kW/m2 to 788.48 kW/m2,respectively. The influences of mass flux and heat flux were studied. At a certain mass flow rate, the local heat transfer coefficient increased with the increase of the heat flux. If dry-out occurred in the mini-channel, the heat transfer coefficient decreased. At the same heat flux, the local heat transfer coefficient would depend on the mass flux. It would increase with the mass flux in a certain range, and then decrease if the mass flux was beyond this range. Experimental data were compared with the results of previous studies. Flow visualization and measurements were conducted to identify flow regime transitions. Results showed that there were eight different kinds of flow patterns occurring during the flow boiling. It was found that flow pattern had a significant effect on heat transfer.展开更多
