The improved algorithm simplified the calculating process greatly because of the reduction of calculation. The orthogonal design was adopted in this experiment. Every sample had strong representation, which could reduce the experimental time and obtain the overall test data. Combined with the formation problem of gas metal arc weld with big current, the auxiliary analysis technique of PLSR was discussed and the regression equation of form factors (i.e. surface width, weld penetration and weld reinforcement) to process parameters(i.e. wire feed rate, wire extension, welding speed, gas flow, welding voltage and welding current)was given. The correlativity structure among variables was analyzed and there was certain correlation between independent variables matrix X and dependent variables matrix Y. The regression analysis shows that the welding speed mainly influences the weld formation while the variation of gas flow in certain range has little influence on formation of weld. The fitting plot of regression accuracy is given. The fitting quality of regression equation is basically satisfactory.展开更多

The SAW bead-on-plates were welded by following a full factorial design matrix. The design matrix consisted of three levels of input welding process parameters. The welds were cross-sectioned and etched, and the zones were measured. A mapping technique was used to measure the various segments of the weld zones. These mapped zones were used to build a fuzzy logic model. The membership functions of the fuzzy model were chosen for the accurate prediction of the weld zone. The fuzzy model was further tested for a set of test case data. The weld zone predicted by the fuzzy logic model was compared with the experimentally obtained shape profiles and close agreement between the two was noted. The mapping technique developed for the weld zones and the fuzzy logiemodel earl be used for on-line control of the SAW process. From the SAW fuzzy logic model an estimation of the fusion and HAZ can also be developed.展开更多

The solidification parameters simulated by the finite volume method with commercial software ANASYS FLUENT were applied in the PDAS model to predict the dendrite arm spacing of fusion zone. Dendrite was also examined by the metallographic method to validate the model. Results indicate that the calculated PDAS agrees with metallographic measurements reasonably, especially the Hunt model. PDAS increases apparently with increasing laser power while decreases slightly with increasing welding speed. Increasing laser power increases the secondary dendrite and increasing welding speed increases the microporosity in dendrite.展开更多
