And its mechanism was discussed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). The results show that sulfur has strong catalysis on both air and CO2 reactivity of coke in the case of no other impurity interference. Its catalysis is probably realized by triggering organic sulfur→H2S→SO2→COS and elemental sulfur (Sx)→SO2 and organic sulfur→H2S→COS→Sx→C2S→COS reaction systems during coke?O2 and coke?CO2 reactions, respectively, which are partly circular with functions of increasing carbon consumption and enlarging coke specific surface area.展开更多

In the past decade, confocal laser scanning microscopy has been brought into endos...Since its inception, endoscopy has aimed to establish an immediate diagnosis that is virtually consistent with a histologic diagnosis. In the past decade, confocal laser scanning microscopy has been brought into endoscopy, thus enabling in vivo microscopic tissue visualization with a magnification and resolution comparable to that obtained with the ex vivo microscopy of histological specimens. The major challenge in the development of instrumentation lies in the miniaturization of a fiber-optic probe for microscopic imaging with micron-scale resolution. Here, we present the design and construction of a confocal endoscope based on a fiber bundle with 1.4-μm lateral resolution and 8-frames per second(fps) imaging speed. The fiber-optic probe has a diameter of 2.6 mm that is compatible with the biopsy channel of a conventional endoscope. The prototype of a confocal endoscope has been used to observe epithelial cells of the gastrointestinal tracts of mice and will be further demonstrated in clinical trials. In addition, the confocal endoscope can be used for translational studies of epithelial function in order to monitor how molecules work and how cells interact in their natural environment.展开更多

The surface area, AAEM concentration and carbon crystallite of chars were obtained to understand the change in char reactivity. It was found that not only Na concentration and carbon structure were the main factors governing the char reactivity in the atmosphere of steam and oxygen, but also they interacted each other. The presence of Na could facilitate the formation of disordering carbon structure in char, and the amorphous carbon structure would in turn affect the distribution of Na and thus its catalytic performance. The surface area and pore volume had very little relationship with the char's reactivity. Addi- tionally, the morphology of chars from different forms of coals were observed using scanning electron microscope (SEM).展开更多

The depolarization effect gains with the increase of the inner convergence angle of the phase plate, goes through a dramatic descent when the angle is larger than 30°, and begins to come back when the angle reaches a threshold of respectively 60°and 65° for the orthogonal diffractive field and the longitudinal diffractive fields. This reveals two convergence points where the depolarization effect is the strongest and weakest, respectively, suggesting that the pure phase plate can be a promising method for altering depolarization diffractive fields and constructing optical instruments.展开更多

A series of highly cross-linked polymeric ionic liquids P[Ci(Vim)_2][Cl]_2(i = 2,3,4,5,6) were synthesized by quaternization reaction and polymerization,and used to remove nitrogen compounds from oils.The polymeric io...A series of highly cross-linked polymeric ionic liquids P[Ci(Vim)_2][Cl]_2(i = 2,3,4,5,6) were synthesized by quaternization reaction and polymerization,and used to remove nitrogen compounds from oils.The polymeric ionic liquids P[Ci(Vim)_2][H_2PO_4]_2(i = 2,3,4,5,6) were then obtained via ion exchange.The structures of P[C_4(Vim)_2][Cl]_2 and P[C_4(Vim)_2][H_2PO_4]_2 were characterized by Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR) spectroscopy,energy dispersive spectrometry(EDS),N2 adsorption-desorption isotherm measurements,scanning electron microscopy(SEM),thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry(TG/DSC).The removal of nitrogen compounds was characterized by pyridineFTIR spectrometry.The results indicated that P[C_4(Vim)_2][H_2PO_4]_2 with an average pore size of 19.23 nm and a specific surface area of 11.78 m^2/g was efficient for the removal of nitrogen compounds,and exhibited good thermal stability.The adsorption rate in the simulated oil reached 93.8% when using a polymeric ionic liquid P[C_4(Vim)_2][H_2PO_4]_2 to oil ratio of 0.04 and a temperature of 313 K.The nitrogen removal rate from the coal-tar diesel fraction achieved by P[C_4(Vim)_2][H_2PO_4]_2 was 90.3%.展开更多

Methods: A total of 106 patients with advanced pancrea...Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the analgesic effect of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer. Methods: A total of 106 patients with advanced pancreatic cancer accompanied by abdominal pain were treated by HIFU. Pain intensities and quantities of morphine consumption before and after treatment were observed and compared. Results: The average pain intensities before treatment, and at d3, d7 after treatment were 5.80 ±2.14, 2.73 ± 2.68, 2.45 ± 2.43 respectively (P 〈 0.01). Fifty-nine cases (55.7%) got to extremely effective, and 29 cases (27.4%) effective. Total efficient rate was 83.0 %. The average quantities of morphine consumption before and after treatment in the patients with grade III pain were 114.9 ± 132.5 rag, 16.8 ± 39.7 mg each person everyday respectively (P 〈 0.01). Conclusion: HIFU can relieve pain suffered by patients with pancreatic cancer effectively. It is a new adjuvant treatment for pancreatic cancer pain.展开更多

Objective:To discuss the clinical efficacy and plausible mechanism of Tiao Yang Qu Xie(regulating Yang to eliminate pathogenic factors)needling method plus paroxetine in treating mild-to-moderate depression.Methods:Si...Objective:To discuss the clinical efficacy and plausible mechanism of Tiao Yang Qu Xie(regulating Yang to eliminate pathogenic factors)needling method plus paroxetine in treating mild-to-moderate depression.Methods:Sixty-six patients with mild-to-moderate depression were divided into an observation group and a control group using the random number table method,each consisting of 33 cases.Another 25 healthy subjects were recruited as a healthy group.The control group took oral paroxetine tablets for treatment,and the observation group received additional acupuncture treatment 3 times weekly.Both groups underwent 4-week treatment.Before treatment,after 2-week and 4-week treatment,and 2 weeks after treatment(follow-up),the patients were assessed using the Hamilton depression scale-17-item(HAMD-17),self-rating depression scale(SDS),self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)pattern element identification scale for depression.The two groups each randomly contributed 25 cases to detect the protein content of brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)before treatment and after 4-week treatment,and compared with the healthy group.Results:After 2-week treatment,the markedly effective and total effective rates were significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05);after 4-week treatment,the observation group significantly surpassed the control group in comparing the markedly effective rate(P<0.05).After 2 and 4 weeks of treatment and at the follow-up,the HAMD-17 total score and sleep disorder factor score were lower in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05);the anxiety-somatic score was lower in the observation group than in the control group after 2-week treatment(P<0.05).After 2 and 4 weeks of treatment and at the follow-up,the observation group was lower than the control group in comparing the scores of SDS,SAS,and TCM pattern element identification scale for depression(P<0.05).After 4-week treatment,the observation group had an increased serum BDNF protein content,higher than that in the control group(P<0.05)and had no significant difference compared to the healthy group(P>0.05).Conclusion:Compared to the use of oral paroxetine alone,acupuncture plus paroxetine can produce more significant efficacy in treating mild-to-moderate depression and act faster in improving sleep disorder and anxiety-somatic symptoms;increasing the serum BDNF protein content may be a part of the mechanism underlying its antidepressant actions.展开更多

This strategy offers great flexibility in terms of the introduction of mono- or multi-functionality by the inclusion of one or more adamantane-based modules with the desired functionalities. As proof of concept, phenylboronic acid (PB) containing adamantane (PB-AD) was used as a model module in the hope of offering enhanced cytosolic delivery in con- sideration of the special affinity of PB groups with cell membranes. The physicochemical properties of the complexes formed with plasmid DNA, such as particle size, zeta potential and morphology were investigated. Confocal laser scanning microsco- py and flow cytometry experiments demonstrated the important contribution of the functional PB-AD module to the consider- ably enhanced intracellular internalization and uptake by cellular nuclei. Compared to the parent CD-TAEA, PB-AD/CD- TAEA assemblies mediated higher transfection rates, which were even comparable to that of PEI25K. In addition, PB-AD/CD- TAEA displayed much lower cytotoxicity than PEI25K in both 293T and HeLa cell lines. The encouraging results suggest that CD-TAEA can be developed as a powerful template capable of readily accommodating various AD-based modules giving versatile functionalities for improved transfection.展开更多
