It is found that anxiety is negatively and closely related to English achievements, whereas self-confidence is positively related. Among dictation, listening, writing, vocabulary and grammar, cloze and reading, dictation and listening are the two skills most closely affected by trait anxiety and self-confidence, so it is vital for teachers to help students reduce anxiety and strengthen confidence while teaching.
