The protection behavior of AZ91D alloy in a sealed melting furnace was investigated under the atmosphere containing SO 2 with different mixed gases. The morphology and composition of the surface film were studied. The melt was well protected in an atmosphere of SO 2 and a proper amount of air, and was not protected properly in the other atmospheres. Based on the understanding of the protective effects of SO 2 in the sealed furnace, the protection mechanism of SO 2 -containing cover gases on molten AZ91D alloy was studied in an open melting furnace. The cover gas protected the melt by reacting with the melt to form a coherent protective film with a network structure on the melt surface. The film contains MgO and MgS. MgS increases the Pilling and Bedworth ratio of the surface film and enhances the protective capability of the films.展开更多

The effects of factors such as reaction temperature and Na OH-to-CBM mass ratio on silicon extraction efficiency were studied. The results show that silicon extraction efficiency increases with increasing the reaction time and Na OH-to-CBM mass ratio. There are two stages for the desilication process of the calcined boron mud. The overall desilication process follows the shrinking-core model, and the first and second stages of the process were determined to obey the shrinking-core model for surface chemical reaction and the diffusion through the product layer, respectively. The activation energies of the first and second stages were calculated to be 44.78 k J/mol and 15.94 k J/mol, respectively.展开更多

Both the absolute value of the streaming potential and water flux of the adsorbed membrane decrease, compared with those of the clean membrane. The streaming potential and flux of the cleaned membrane can be completely recovered by cleaning with the mass fraction of 0.8%EDTA at pH=10.展开更多

It is indicated that Si_3N_4, NbN, Fe_2 Al B and B_(13)C_2 are generated as new phases at the interface between the melt and substrate, and reactive wetting behaviour exists during the heating process. The surface tensions of two alloy melts on BN substrate both firstly decrease and then increase along with increasing temperature, leading to V-shaped surface tension versus temperature, which results from atomic diffusion effects in the surface layer during the oxidation of BN and formation of C-rich layer. Comparably, the surface tensions on Al_2O_3 and Si C substrates decrease with increasing temperature throughout the entire temperature range. Among three substrates, BN exhibits the mildest wetting behaviour. The vacuum environment has the strongest protective effect on melt stability among the tested atmospheres. These findings enrich our knowledge about the effects of the substrate and atmosphere on Fe-based alloy melts at a high temperature, and provide theoretical reference for designing jet nozzles in melt-spinning techniques.展开更多
