By conjugating features of combustion gas jetting flows of the solid-rocket and using mathematical methods, a numerical scheme is systematically derived based on Harten′s standard TVD scheme, which fits for the flow with high temperature, pressure and velocity. The rational calculation formula of pressure partial derivation is also given out. By using the chemical kinetics knowledge, problems of multi-component and finite rate chemical reaction contained in combustion gas of the rocket flow field are discussed. The method for solving the mass source term of chemical reaction is clarified. Taking 9 reaction equations with 12 components as an example and utilizing the established calculation program, the free jetting flow field of the rocket is simulated. Numerical results show the correctness of the numerical scheme. 展开更多

Wells turbine is a self rectifying air flow turbine capable of converting pneumatic power of the periodically reversing air stream in Oscillating Water Column into mechanical energy. One of the principal reasons for the low efficiency of the Wells turbine is its lower tangential force compared to its axial force. Guide vanes before and after the rotor suggest a means to improve the tangential force, hence its efficiency. Experimental investigations are carried out on the Wells turbine with a variable chord (VACR) blade rotor fitted with inlet and outlet guide vanes to understand the aerodynamics especiallyimprovement in efficiency and starting characteristics. Numerical simulation has been made to clarify the unsteady characteristics of the turbine with guide vanes. Studies are done at various flow coefficients covering the entire range of flow coefficients over which the turbine is operable. The efficiency,starting characteristics of the Wells turbine has improved when compared with the turbine without guide vanes. 展开更多

Cooling technology of gas turbine blades,primarily ensured via internal forced convection,is aimed towards withdrawing thermal energy from the airfoil.To promote heat exchange,the walls of internal cooling passages are lined with repeated geometrical flow disturbance elements and surface non-uniformities.Raising the heat transfer at the expense of increased pressure loss;the goal is to obtain the highest possible cooling effectiveness at the lowest possible pressure drop penalty.The cooling channel heat transfer problem involves convection in the fluid domain and conduction in the solid.This coupled behavior is known as conjugate heat transfer.This experimental study models the effects of conduction coupling on convective heat transfer by applying iso-heat-flux boundary condition at the external side of a scaled serpentine passage.Investigations involve local temperature measurements performed by Infrared Thermography over flat and ribbed slab configurations.Nusselt number distributions along the wetted surface are obtained by means of heat flux distributions,computed from an energy balance within the metal domain.For the flat plate experiments,the effect of conjugate boundary condition on heat transfer is estimated to be in the order of 3%.In the ribbed channel case,the normalized Nusselt number distributions are compared with the basic flow features.Contrasting the findings with other conjugate and convective iso-heat-flux literature,a high degree of overall correlation is evident. 展开更多
