We studied gully slope movements, subject to underground mining, with physical simulation and theoretical analysis. The rules disclose that the slope rock slides horizontally in response to mining in the direction of gullies and rotates reversely with the appearance of a polygon block in mining away from gullies. We focused our attention on the case of mining away from a gully. We built a mechanical model in terms of a polygon block hinged structure and investigated the variation of horizontal thrust and shear force at the hinged point in relation to the rotation angle under different fragmentations. The Sliding-Rotation instability conditions of the polygon block hinged structure are presented based on the analyses of sliding instability and rotation instability. These results can serve as a theoretical guide for roof control during mining away from gullies in a coalfield defined by gullies. 展开更多

One of the key issues for parallel mechanism is the kinematic characteristics,especially the workspace which varies with configuration parameters.A kind of 4UPS-UPU parallel mechanism is designed and its workspace is studied in this paper.First,the mobility of the 4UPS-UPU parallel mechanism is analyzed based on the reciprocal screw theory,and the motion and constraint screw systems of the parallel mechanism are obtained.Then the inverse kinematics is derived by the closed-form kinematics chain.The boundary search method in the polar coordinate system is presented to analyze the constant-orientation workspace of the parallel mechanism.Finally,the influence factors relevant to the workspace,such as the structural parameters and kinematics parameters are analyzed in detail.The relationship between the workspace volume and different parameters are obtained.The conclusions can be used for parameters optimization and path planning of the parallel mechanism. 展开更多

The arguments in this paper lead to a new definition of thermodynamic equilibrium that remedies the deficiencies of the current forms. This definition relates thermodynamic equilibrium to its physical causes and accounts for all factors that determine it for all types of equilibrium. Standard definitions of thermodynamic equilibrium are incomplete. They do not take account of all factors that determine such equilibriums, discuss the impediments which may prevent them being reached or relate the properties that define equilibriums to the physical reasons that determine them when impediments are present. The laws of thermodynamics determine the requirements for equilibrium. These laws arise from the physical behaviour of the molecules in molecular systems and are consequences of the conservation of energy, the energies of molecules, statistics, Newton's laws of motion, and the equi-partition of energy. The standard definition of thermodynamic equilibrium correctly defines equilibrium whenever impediments are not factors. The discussion demonstrates how impediments arise, accounts for their role in defining equilibrium and how they relate to the energies of molecules at the conditions of the system. Stream Surface Theory of Bird-like Flapping Flight

Through analyzing the motion characteristics of bird-like flapping flight, it is considered that the wing angular acceleration is equal to zero at the point of maximum angular speed. Thus, the flapping flight is equivalent to a uniform rotating motion which can be analyzed by using the stream surface theory of turbomachinery during a micro period of time. In this article, the N-S equations of the motion are expanded in a non-orthogonal curvilinear coordinate system, and simplified on stream surfaces of the flapping flight model. By using stream function me- thod, the three-dimensional unsteady flow equations are simplified as a two-order partial differential equation with variable coefficients eventually and the equation's iterative solving method on S1 and $2 stream surfaces of the flapping flight model is presented. Through expanding the relatively steady equations of flapping flight at an arbitrary time point of a stroke on meridional plane of the flapping flight model, it can use a relatively steady mo- tion to approximate the real flapping flight at that time point, and analyze the flow stability influenced by the wing's flexibility. It can be seen that the wing flexibility is related to the higher pressurization capacity and the flow stability, and the pressurization capacity of flexible wing is proportional to the angular speed, angular distor- tion rate and radius square. 展开更多
