Objective: To investigate the methylation status of the PCDH8 (Protocadherin-8) gene in gastric cancer tissues and find out the relationship between methylation status of the PCDH8 and clinicopathological features in ...Objective: To investigate the methylation status of the PCDH8 (Protocadherin-8) gene in gastric cancer tissues and find out the relationship between methylation status of the PCDH8 and clinicopathological features in gastric cancer patients. Methods: We first investigated the methylation status of the PCDH8 (Protocadherin-8) gene in 65 gastric cancer and detected aberrant promoter methylation in gastric cancers; and then analyzed he relationship between methylation status of the PCDH8 and clinicopathological status with SPSS 13.0 software. Results: We first investigated the methylation status of the PCDH8 (Protocadherin-8) gene in 65 gastric cancer and detected aberrant promoter methylation in 36 of 65 (55.4%) gastric cancers. There was no significant difference in the distribution of patients with methylation or unmethylation of PCDH8 in terms of age, sex, tumor size, distant metastasis, or TNM stage. Methylation of PCDH8 was significantly correlated to negative pathological lymph node metastasis (P=0.038) and tumor differentiation (P=0.01). These two factors were proved to be of prognostic importance. Conclusion: Methylated PCDH8 seems to have a trend for worse prognosis in gastric cancer. However, a further large series of tumor samples and a longer follow-up period are required to elucidate its potential role.展开更多
Recently,as recognizing emotion has been one of the hallmarks of affective computing,more attention has been paid to physiological signals for emotion recognition.This paper presented an approach to emotion recognitio...Recently,as recognizing emotion has been one of the hallmarks of affective computing,more attention has been paid to physiological signals for emotion recognition.This paper presented an approach to emotion recognition using ElectroCardioGraphy(ECG) signals from multiple subjects.To collect reliable affective ECG data,we applied an arousal method by movie clips to make subjects experience specific emotions without external interference.Through precise location of P-QRS-T wave by continuous wavelet transform,an amount of ECG features was extracted sufficiently.Since feature selection is a combination optimization problem,Improved Binary Particle Swarm Optimization(IBPSO) based on neighborhood search was applied to search out effective features to improve classification results of emotion states with the help of fisher or K-Nearest Neighbor(KNN) classifier.In the experiment,it is shown that the approach is successful and the effective features got from ECG signals can express emotion states excellently.展开更多
Oil monitoring constitutes an important and essential component of condition monitoring technologies and has distinguished advantages in revealing wear,lubrication and friction conditions of tribo-pairs.Newly develope...Oil monitoring constitutes an important and essential component of condition monitoring technologies and has distinguished advantages in revealing wear,lubrication and friction conditions of tribo-pairs.Newly developed on-line/in-line oil monitoring technologies extend the merits into real-time applications and demonstrate significant benefits in maintenance and management of equipment.This paper comprehensively reviews the progress of on-line/in-line oil monitoring techniques including sensor technologies,their scopes and industrial applications.Based on the existing developments and applications of the sensors for oil quality and wear debris measurements,the trends for future sensor developments are discussed with focuses on accurate,integrated and intelligent features along with exploring a fundamental issue,that is,acquiring the knowledge on degradation mechanisms which has not received sufficient attention until now.Current status of applications of on-line oil monitoring is also reviewed.Although limited reports have been found on this topic,increasing awareness and encouraging progress in on-line monitoring techniques are recognized in applications such as aircraft,shipping,railway,mining,etc.Key fundamental issues for further extending the on-line oil monitoring techniques in industries are proposed and they include long-term reliability of sensors in harsh conditions,and agreement with fault or maintenance determination.展开更多

Oxidation of metallic glasses has been shown to be different from crystalline alloys due to the disordered atomic structures and far-from-equilibrium state,and quick characterization is required to reveal their early ...Oxidation of metallic glasses has been shown to be different from crystalline alloys due to the disordered atomic structures and far-from-equilibrium state,and quick characterization is required to reveal their early stage oxidation.In this study,we investigated the oxidation behavior of a Zr_(46)Cu_(46)Al_(7)Gd_(1)bulk metallic glass by measuring the changes of optical constants via spectroscopic ellipsometry.Characterizations with X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,and thermogravimetric analyzer confirmed that the changes of pseudo-optical constants reflected not only the onset temperature at which the alloys underwent obvious oxidation,but also the subtle oxidation which was tedious to characterize.Our study suggests a more efficient and accurate approach to understand the oxidation of metallic glasses with temperature,time and compositions.展开更多
