[Method] In middle reach of Heihe River in Linze County of Zhangye City, maize, a major crop in irrigated area in the oasis, was studied and nine influential factors were chosen through grey relation analysis. [Result] According to grey relation analysis, top five factors influencing water produc- tivity of maize during 1995-2009 were as follows: applied quantity of chemical fertil- izers〉labour input〉seeds〉mulch amount〉pesticide amount, which indicated that controllable factors, instead of uncontrollable ones, dominate in influence of water productivity of maize in oasis in arid areas. [Conclusion] With water resource limited, investment of controllable factors in high-efficient agricultural production should be the major strategy to improve water productivity of maize in oasis of arid areas.展开更多

We identified national-scale NEP (net ecosystem production) changes for conversions to and from crop, and land in frequent conversion among forest, wetland, pasture and rangeland. The trend showed an increase in the margins of the Corn Belt states and coincided with land conversion from previous non-cropland to cropland in the United States. This research will not only improve the engineering understanding of carbon dioxide removal options involving the terrestrial biosphere, but will also inform decision-making in the carbon emission impacts. Therefore, it will provide a spatio-temporal reference for analyzing the national-level carbon exchange systems in the United States.展开更多

The frequency picking up sweet-corn grains to take into the mouth by either hand of monkeys was counted directly at the feeding ground where sweet-corn grains were scattered for monkeys. Among the 20 monkeys examined, 8 were right-handed, 8 were left-handed, and 4 were ambilateral. The results indicated the prevailed hand preference on individual level but not either trends of left- or right-hand preference on population level. The trend toward a higher proportion of left-handed monkeys found in Japanese and rhesus monkeys was not found. Some other characteristics found in moor monkeys are discussed in comparison with those previous findings in Japanese and Tibetan macaques in order to evaluate variations within the genus Macaca展开更多
