Platymonas (Tetraselmis) subcordiformis is a unicellular marine green alga. It was found to be very sensitive to the herbicide Basta through a sensitivity test indicating it could be employed as a selective agent. The bar gene is a practicable and selectable marker gene. The vector containing the expression cassette of the bar gene was transferred to P. subcordiformis by both particle bombardment and glass-bead agitation and transformants were then selected using Basta. Finally, Southern blotting analysis indicated that the bar gene had been successfully integrated into the nuclear genome of P. subcordiformis using both of the transgenic techniques, with the transformation efficiency of the glass-bead method being slightly higher than that of particle bombardment. This is the first report on stable transformation of P. subcordiformis, and will improve fundamental research and enlarge application of this alga. 展开更多

The glass facade of high-rise building in coastal areas is vulnerable under typhoon.The research works in the literature on facade's wind-resistance performance,however,have some limitations to apply to this issue.During typhoon landing,the whole facade will vibrate and deform due to the change of atmosphere,temperature and impacted torrential rain,to result in a quite different strain or stress distribution in the glass facade from those in model test and wind tunnel test.In this paper,the field measurement on glass facade of a coastal high-rise building in Xiamen was performed,the wind pressure on the glass facade was measured and a large number of windinduced stress data were obtained during typhoon landing.The relationship between wind pressure and stress or strain of the glass panel was analyzed and the situation of stress distribution was summarized. 展开更多

Buildup characteristics of roof pollutants in the Shanghai urban area,China 被引量:1

The buildup of roof pollutants in an urban area of Shanghai, China was investigated by conducting 16 experiments between November 2007 and October 2008. Concentrations of Cu, Zn and Cd in runoff from three types of roof (concrete, aluminum and glass) exceeded USEPA National Recommended Water Quality Criteria. The solid/liquid partition of the selected metal elements was consistent for the three roof types: Al, Fe, Zn and Pb were present mainly in the particle-bound form, while the total loading of Cd was nearly 100% in the dissolved form. Atmospheric dry precipitation accounted for most of all pollutant loadings for all roof types, while roof material made only a minor contribution to the loadings. All pollutant accumulation rates except for COD showed a seasonal trend with peaks in spring (March^May) and winter (December^February) and troughs in summer (June^August) and autumn (September^November). Our results showed that a linear equation is the most reliable of commonly used buildup models to simulate the total phosphorus (TP) and total suspended solids (TSS) buildup processes on aluminum roofs and glass roofs. This study provided novel information about roof runoff in Shanghai, China, in terms of pollution status, pollution source and pollutant buildup processes, thereby aiding in rainwater utilization and non-point pollution control. 展开更多

Up to now the chirality is seldom studied in the diluted spin glass although many investigations have been performed on the site-ordered Edwards-Anderson model. By simulation, we investigate the dynamicaJ properties of both the spin-glass and the chiral-glass phases in a diluted dipolar system, which was manifested to have a spin-glass transition by recent numerical study. By scaling we find that both phases have the same aging behavior and closer aging parameterμ. Similarly, the domains grow in the same way and both phases have a closer barrier exponent g2. It means that both the spins and the chirality have the same dynamical properties and they may freeze at the same temperature. 展开更多

Six tektites from Guilin of Guangxi, Hainan, and Guangdong were analyzed for the abundances of major elements and 27 trace elements. All samples are splash-form tektites and have SiO2 contents ranging from 73.1wt% to 76.0wt% (74.6wt% on average). The chemical compositions, except Cr and Ni, of tektites from different areas, are similar. Guangdong tektite shows enrichments of Ni and Cr contents by a factor of 3, and has slightly higher MgO and FeO than Hainan and Guilin tektites. It indicates that the tektites were formed by mixing several target rocks. The major and trace element concentrations of southern China tektites closely resemble previously reported data for average splash-form and Muong Nong-type indochinites, indicating that they have the same source. (La/Lu)CI (7.99), Zr/Hf (35.45 on average), Ba/Rb (3.59 on average), and the rare earth element (REE) contents of tektites are similar to those of typical post Archean upper crustal rocks. This study suggests that the best fit for the target source of southern China tektites could be a combination of 41% shale, 2% sandstone, 20% greywacke, and 37% quartzite. 展开更多
