This is not to state a criticism of neocolonial values upon which the city is built in opposition to the ghetto but rather of demonstrating the extent to which the white city and the ghetto are already deeply implicated within each other. In a ghetto novel, the white city is the subtext that we must recover, because history of ghetto formation itself is the subject of its discourse. Revaluation of the ghetto prepares us for later attempts to revive an urban and "ghettocentric" American identity. In contrast to some ghetto fiction where the ghetto is denounced as a place adverse to emancipatory "progress", Nicholasa Mohr's literary ghetto in Nilda (I 986) is not a narrative reinforcing the stereotypical representations of how racioethnic urban life and violent crime define each other. It is not, in other words, a location of unproblematic inherited identities but a place where orientations and identifications are negotiated.展开更多

The current television model is undergoing a deep-rooted change, and its future depends, to a large extent, on its presence in cyberspace. For the purposes of this study, we selected the internet homepages of the 12 regional radio-television stations which together make up the Spanish Federation of Regional Radio and Television Organizations (FORTA). The aim was to carry out a research project using content analysis techniques.展开更多

Although depending on wind, marine energetic stability is higher than the one depending on air masses. For this reason, the use on isolated networks would bring a great benefit, as they have less perturbation than the other mentioned energies In addition to this, the subtropical weather is famous for its climatic stability and the lack of extreme conditions. For this paper, firstly, an initial analysis was carried out, comparing the most important wave converters in developing at the moment, in which the "Wave Dragon" device was chosen as the most promising. Secondly, the Gran Canaria's wave potential was studied using a numeric model based on data obtained from "Wana" points. Finally, the feasibility of implementing the "Wave Dragon" device in Gran Canaria was tested using simulations that were based in the previously obtained data, remarking the protection of the system against instabilities in the generation of renewable energies.展开更多

Also this law (1997) introduces the division between generators, distribution companies and retailers. The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of the fundamental parameters to be taken into account when examining the status of national regulations in Spain on the quality of electricity supply, in addition to describing the various agents intervening in these. There are two more aspects to consider: the guarantee of supply and energy is provided at the lowest cost to consumers. The authors propose to include phase-shifting transformers at specific strategic points, in accordance with power flow control principles in parallel circuits. Finally, it can be concluded that Royal Decree 222/2008 needs reviewing and applying effectively, as do modifications to Royal Decree 1995/2000 providing remuneration that effectively induces electricity companies to invest in their networks, and ends with "a well-paid electricity company is obliged to invest in network improvements".展开更多

It was implemented to share official geographic information from Alentejo and Extremadura, and now Centro region, with everyone. This is the most effective way to have a distributed and flexible system to be used as a territorial observatory for sustainable development and environment protection in these rural and low populated regions. It also contributes to territorial cohesion, one of the tree main pillars of European Cohesion Policy. It's characterized for being a distributed, decentralized, modular and collaborative system, based on standards OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium), W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and open source technology, developed to guarantee interoperability between the different GIS (Geographic Information System) provided by each project partner. The geoportal is multilingual (Portuguese, Spanish and English) and integrates a Map viewer, Metadata Catalogue and Gazetteer. It consists in central and local nodes which communicate through WMS (Web Map Services), CSW (Catalogue Service Web) and WFS (Web Feature Services). It is now implementing SOS (Sensor Observation Services) and WPS (Web Map Processing). The geographic information available results of an extensive work of data harmonisation adapted to INSPIRE Directive (D 2007/2/EC, the European Parliament and Council, March 14, 2007). It integrates basic cartography, socio-economic, territorial and environmental indicators.展开更多
