Methods: In 29 thyroid cancer patients with low or no express...Objective; The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of radiofrequency treatment on sodium/iodide symporter expression of thyroid cancer ceils. Methods: In 29 thyroid cancer patients with low or no expression of soda / iodide symporter, the radio frequency combined 1311 therapy was used, the whole-body scintigraphy and serum Ig were detected before and after the radiofrequency treatment. Results: The whole-body scintigraphy showed that 4 cases (4/29) before radiofrequenc_y treatment had positive iodine uptake, 19 cases (19/29) two weeks after radiofrequency treatment had the positive iodine uptake, 12 cases (12/29) four weeks after radiofrequency treatment had the positive iodine uptake. Four weeks after radiofrequency treatment, 5 cases had increased serum Ig levels, 17 cases had decreased serum Ig levels, 7 cases showed no change. 25 cases (25/29) were effective, 15 cases (15/29) were cured. Conclusion: The radiofrequency induced the non-expressed the sodium/iodide symporter of thyroid cancer cells regain the iodine intake ability, it improved the clinical efficacy of 131I therapy in dedifferentiated thyroid cancer.展开更多

The purpose of this investigation was to prospectively examine the relationship among...Background: The influence of self-presentation concerns on the adolescent sport experience has received scant empirical attention. The purpose of this investigation was to prospectively examine the relationship among self-presentational concerns and pre-game affective states among middle and high school aged football players. Methods: American football players (n = 112; mean age = 15.57 years) completed a measure of self-presentational concerns (SPSQ, McGowan, et al., 2008) a week prior to the measurement of selected pre-game affective states (i.e., attentiveness, self-assurance, serenity, and fear). Results: Regression analyses revealed that concerns about appearing athletically untalented negatively contributed to the significant prediction (p 〈 0.001) of pre-game attentiveness, /3 = -0.43, Radj ^2 19.5% (p 〈 0.001), and self-assurance, /3 = -0.38, R^dj = 11.9% (p 〈 0.01). Conclusion: These findings highlight the importance of reducing self-presentational concerns in promoting positive pre-game mental states that likely impact the quality of athletes' competitive play and experience. A differential carbon monoxide(CO) concentration sensing device using a self-fabricated spherical mirror(e.g.light-collector) and a multi-pass gas-chamber is presented in this paper.Single-source dual-channel detectio...A differential carbon monoxide(CO) concentration sensing device using a self-fabricated spherical mirror(e.g.light-collector) and a multi-pass gas-chamber is presented in this paper.Single-source dual-channel detection method is adopted to suppress the interferences from light source,optical path and environmental changes.Detection principle of the device is described,and both the optical part and the electrical part are developed.Experiments are carried out to evaluate the sensing performance on CO concentration.The results indicate that at 1.013×10~5 Pa and 298 K,the limit of detection(LoD) is about 11.5 mg/m^3 with an absorption length of 40 cm.As the gas concentration gets larger than115 mg/m^3(1.013×10~5 Pa,298 K),the relative detection error falls into the range of-1.7%—+1.9%.Based on 12 h long-term measurement on the 115 mg/m^3 and 1 150 mg/m^3 CO samples,the maximum detection errors are about0.9%and 5.5%,respectively.Due to the low cost and competitive characteristics,the proposed device shows potential applications in CO detection in the circumstances of coal-mine production and environmental protection.展开更多

To better understand infection stratagems of insect pathogenic fungi, we analyzed the global gene expression profiling of Beauveria bassiana at 36, 60, 84 and 108 h after topical infection of Anopheles stephensi adult mosquitoes using RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq). A total of 5,354 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) are identified over the course of fungal infection. When the fungus grows on the mosquito cuticle, up-regulated DEGs include adhesion-related genes involved in cuticle attachment, Pthl l-like GPCRs hypothesized to be involved in host recognition, and extracellular enzymes involved in the degradation and penetration of the mosquito cuticle. Once in the mosquito hemocoel, the fungus evades mosquito immune system probably through up-regulating expression of 13-1,3-glucan degrading enzymes and chitin synthesis enzymes for remodeling of cell walls. Moreover, six previous unknown SSCP (small secreted cysteine-rich proteins) are significantly up-regulated, which may serve as "effectors" to suppress host defense responses. B. bassiana also induces large amounts of antioxidant genes to mitigate host-generated exogenous oxidative stress. At late stage of infection, B. bassiana activates a broad spectrum of genes including nutrient degrading enzymes, some transporters and metabolism pathway components, to exploit mosquito tissues and hemolymph as a nutrient source for hyphal growth. These findings establish an important framework of knowledge for further comprehensive elucidation of fungal pathogenesis and molecular mechanism of Beauveria-mosquito interactions.展开更多
Staphylococcus aureus is a common human bacterium that sometimes becomes pathogenic,causing serious infections.A key feature of S.aureus is its ability to acquire resistance to antibiotics.The presence of the staphylo...Staphylococcus aureus is a common human bacterium that sometimes becomes pathogenic,causing serious infections.A key feature of S.aureus is its ability to acquire resistance to antibiotics.The presence of the staphylococcal cassette chromosome(SCC) element in serotypes of S.aureus has been confirmed using multiplex PCR assays.The SCC element is the only vector known to carry the mecA gene,which encodes methicillin resistance in S.aureus infections.Here,we report the genome sequence of a novel methicillin-sensitive S.aureus(MSSA) strain:SCC-like MSSA463.This strain was originally erroneously serotyped as methicillin-resistant S.aureus in a clinical laboratory using multiplex PCR methods.We sequenced the genome of SCC-like MSSA463 using pyrosequencing techniques and compared it with known genome sequences of other S.aureus isolates.An open reading frame(CZ049;AB037671) was identified downstream of attL and attR inverted repeat sequences.Our results suggest that a lateral gene transfer occurred between S.aureus and other organisms,partially changing S.aureus infectivity.We propose that attL and attR inverted repeats in S.aureus serve as frequent insertion sites for exogenous genes.展开更多
