Objective:To survey current community health nursing(CHN)courses offered in baccalaureate nursing programs in the mainland of China from the perspective on information available on websites of colleges and universitie...Objective:To survey current community health nursing(CHN)courses offered in baccalaureate nursing programs in the mainland of China from the perspective on information available on websites of colleges and universities.Methods:A descriptive research design was used.Data were collected from the official websites of colleges and universities providing baccalaureate nursing programs in the mainland of China.A checklist was applied to identify academic year,type of course,credit,and class hours for both theory and practice teaching of CHN courses including Community Nursing,Geriatric Nursing,Rehabilitation Nursing,and Health Education.The prescribed textbooks were consulted for teaching content.Results:Colleges(n?16)and universities(n?26)offering baccalaureate nursing programs with accessible online information for curriculum setting were recruited.The results showed that most of the accessible educational institutions(92.86%)have offered three to four investigated CHN courses.Community Nursing,Geriatric Nursing and Rehabilitation Nursing are generally offered to juniors,while Health Education is offered in half of these institutions in different academic years.Community Nursing is mainly offered as a required course with 2 credits,while Geriatric Nursing,Rehabilitation Nursing and Health Education are provided as elective courses with fewer credits.Around half of the institutions have practice hours for Community Nursing,Geriatric Nursing and Rehabilitation Nursing courses.However,the proportion of practice hours in the courses is generally less than 50%.The teaching content focuses on clinical care competencies instead of complementary competencies.Conclusion:It was revealed that CHN education in China is still in its infancy from website information of colleges and universities.CHN courses should be included in curriculum design,and teaching reforms and innovations should be taken to prepare nursing students to practice in primary health care and community settings.展开更多

Needs analysis is described in the context of foreign language learning as ＂a systematic and ongoing process of gathering information about students＇ needs and preferences, interpreting the information and then making course decisions in order to meet those needs＂ （Graves, 2000, p. 74）. Because foreign language instruction has become much more learner-centered in recent years, needs analysis is a must for effective learning processes to occur （LONG, 1999, 2005; Kikuchi ＆ Apple, 2006）. In this context, the purpose of this pilot study is to gather information about the students＇ needs in learning Turkish at Center for European Studies, where less commonly taught languages, including Czech, Greek, Hungarian and Polish are offered. Drawing on interview data compiled from a number of studies （Tarone ＆ Yule, 1989; LI ＆ Richards, 1995）, the findings indicate that the students＇ needs may be grouped under four categories including their linguistic needs, their objectives in learning Turkish, learning resources, psychological and sociological factors that may impact their learning experiences. Current research suggests, however, that a...Exergaming provides an initial situationally interesting environment in physical education （PE） that serves to motivate novice players to engage in PE or physical activity. Current research suggests, however, that as students persist in this activity their situational interest decreases as their ability to exercise consistently at moderate intensity levels increases. In this article I will briefly review the literature citing benefits of exergaming and the role of exergaming in contemporary PE curricula before turning to the question of the place of exergaming in a learning- oriented approach to PE. I will suggest that exergaming, when taught within a situated learning framework, can contribute to student under- standing of the effects of exercise on their bodies and may produce meaningful lessons to assist students to create, monitor, and adapt a fitness plan to participate in life long exercise using a variety of physical activities. In this paper I argue that physical literacy includes not only knowledge for performance but also the ability to apply knowledge and use knowledge for innovation. Scholars since the 1930s have addressed the role of knowledge in physical literacy designing curricula centered on transmitting knowledge through a range of interdisciplinary approaches to physical education. The paper aims to introduce an integrated method of teaching English theoretical courses adopted by a teacher in Foreign Language School of Xi＇an Jiaotong University who taught ETTM course （English Teaching Theory and Methodology course）. And the method has employed the collaborative learning strategy and through a survey conducted among the students attended the course, and we find that the method has gained some effective teaching results. In 2006, a private highly ranked Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International [AACSB] accredited business school introduced a hybrid face to face and on-line MBA program, tailored towards workin...In 2006, a private highly ranked Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International [AACSB] accredited business school introduced a hybrid face to face and on-line MBA program, tailored towards working professionals. The features of the program were highlighted by the ability of the participants to receive an MBA in about two years while maintaining their full-time jobs. Despite the considerable rigor and cost, the growth of the program has far exceeded original projections, and enrollment currently stands at over 400 participants in three locations, with a fourth slated for opening in 2012. In addition, the pedagogical tools learned and employed by the faculty and administrators are now being utilized in all other undergraduate, graduate, and executive education levels. Because the program curriculum spans both face to face and on-line learning, as well as a multi-disciplinary content and process, it has been challenging from the faculty side along a number of dimensions. This paper seeks to express the content and pedagogical angles from the view of one discipline＇s experience, so that other faculty and administrators can benefit from seeing this particular ＂early adoption＂ approach. In short, the author hopes that this paper steepens the learning curve for others who are thinking of delivering or teaching in this type of programmatic model in the future.展开更多
