The limitations and needs for optimal use of these technologies are discussed, such as the limited advanced technical knowledge and skills, low awareness and capacity, unclear link between GIS output and policy making, lack of supporting policies and standards, lack of a wetlands geo-information networklimite, and the use of these techniques in wetland research. The 1-km Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) image is not suitable for retrieval of field level parameter and Landsat data are not frequent enough for monitoring changes in crop parameters during the critical crop growth periods.A methodology to map areas of paddy fields using MODIS,geographic information system (GIS) and global position system (GPS) is introduced in this paper. Training samples are selected and located with the help of GPS to provide maximal accuracy.A concept of assessing areas of potential cultivation of rice is suggested by means of GIS integration. By integration of MODIS with GIS and GPS technologies the actual areas of rice fields in 2002 have been mapped. The classification accuracy was 95.7% percent compared with the statistical data of the Agricultural Bureau of Zhejiang Province.展开更多

This paper presents two algorithms to solve the multipath problem. Firstly, we improve the Line of Possible Mobile Device(LPMD) algorithm by optimizing the utilization of the direct paths for single-bound scattering scenario. Secondly, the signal path reckoning method with the assistance of geographic information system is proposed to solve the problem of localization with multi-bound scattering paths. With the building model's idealization, the proposed method refers to the idea of ray tracing and dead reckoning. According to the rule of wireless signal reflection, the signal propagation path is reckoned using the measurements of emission angle and propagation distance, and then the estimated location can be obtained. Simulation shows that the proposed method obtains better results than the existing geometric localization methods in multipath environment when the angle error is controlled.展开更多

Based on multi-body system theory, a geometric error m...In order to improve the process precision of an XY laser annealing table, a geometric error modeling, and an identification and compensation method were proposed. Based on multi-body system theory, a geometric error model for the laser annealing table was established. It supports the identification of 7 geometric errors affecting the annealing accuracy. An original identification method was presented to recognize these geometric errors. Positioning errors of 5 lines in the workspace were measured by a laser interferometer, and the 7 geometric errors were identified by the proposed algorithm. Finally, a software-based error compensation method was adopted, and a compensation mechanism was developed in a postprocessor based on LabVIEW. The identified geometric errors can be compensated by converting ideal NC codes to actual NC codes. A validation experiment has been conducted on the laser annealing table, and the results indicate that positioning errors of two validation lines decreased from ±37 μm and ±33 μm to ±5 μm and ±4.5 μm, respectively. The geometric error modeling, identification and compensation method presented in this work can be straightforwardly extended to any configurations of 2-dimensional worktable.展开更多

But the applica...Geographic information systems (GIS) are a widely used tool in urban planning and management. More and more cities and decision-makers require its attributes of promptness, precision and visualization. But the application of GIS in urban environmental management is still a new field and relevant researches are getting on tardily. As a subsystem of GIS, an urban environmental management geographic information system (UEMGIS) should be a complex multi-discipline and multi-objective tool to perform quantitative multi-dimension analysis and to transfer the results into an expression legible to an ordinary user. It should be a dynamic system of prompt functions based on upgradable databases, and be composed of many subsystems respectively specialized in items about water, air, waste and noise as well as relative standards and regulations. However, existing UEMGISs mostly rely on the basic GIS too much to design the actual requirements of applications and managements in themselves, and the unavailability of sufficient fundamental data has retarded their improvement. In the design of a UEMGIS, the standardization of data classification should be taken into consideration to make the data exchangeable and shareable among its subsystems and within every subsystem, and the applicable error limits for input data should be defined in accordance with the user抯 required precision of data out. Data acquisition can be easy and quick if remote sensing, global positioning system (GPS) and other technologies are combined with GIS. Rapidly progressing information technologies have been giving a bright prospect for the melioration of UEMGIS that will have great potential and wide application in environmental conservation.展开更多
The Longmenshan fault is a thrust fault which runs along the base of the Longmen Mountains in Siehuan province, southwestern China. The southern segment of the fault had two distinct responses to the Ms 8 Wenehuan and...The Longmenshan fault is a thrust fault which runs along the base of the Longmen Mountains in Siehuan province, southwestern China. The southern segment of the fault had two distinct responses to the Ms 8 Wenehuan and Ms 7 Lushan earthquakes. This study determines characteristics of the structural geology of the Longmenshan fault to evaluate how it influenced the two aforementioned earthquakes. This research was done within a Geo- information Technologies (GiT) environment based on multi-source remote sensing and crustal movement data extracted from the Global Positioning System (GPS). The spatial distribution of the southern segment of the Longmenshan fault zone was comprehensively analyzed to study both earthquakes. The study revealed that the Wenehuan and Lushan earthquakes occurred on two relatively independent faults. In addition, there was a nearly constant-velocity crustal movement zone between the two epicenters that probably had a compressive stress with slow motion. Furthermore, the central fault and a mountain back fault gradually merged from north to south. The Lushan earthquake of the Wenchuan earthquake. was not an affershock The research showed that fault zones within 30-50 km of State Highway 318 are intensive and complex. In addition, crustal movement velocity decreased rapidly, with a strong multi-directional shear zone. Thus, activity in that zone was likely stronger than in the northern part over the medium to long term.展开更多

RS (Remote Sensing), GIS (Geographical Information System), GPS (Global Positioning Sys...A comprehensive method of image classification was developed for monitoring land use dynamics in Chanthaburi Province of Tailand. RS (Remote Sensing), GIS (Geographical Information System), GPS (Global Positioning System) and ancillary data were combined by the method which adopts the main idea of classifying images by steps from decision tree method and the hybridized supervised and unsupervised classification. An integration of automatic image interpretation, ancillary materials and expert knowledge was realized. Two subscenes of Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper (TM) images of bands 3, 4 and 5 obtained on December 15, 1992, and January 17, 1999, were used for image processing and spatial data analysis in the study. The overall accuracy of the results of classification reached 90%, which was verified by field check.Results showed that shrimp farm land, urban and traffic land, barren land, bush and agricultural developing area increased in area, mangrove, paddy field, swamp and marsh land, orchard and plantation, and tropical grass land decreased, and the forest land kept almost stable. Ecological analysis on the land use changes showed that more attentions should be paid on the effect of land development on ecological environment in the future land planning and management.展开更多

This paper discusses the development of C++ classes, which may be used for development of software for location aware management and control, specifically in merchant shipping, so as to provide improved safety, increased automation, prevention of pollution and reducing the work burden of the crew. The GPS is used in conjunction with the regionally accessible nested global shorelines (RANGS) dataset for this purpose. The design of two main C++ classes named CShorelines and CGPSInput have been discussed. In order to compensate the disadvantage, wireless sensor network(WSN) associated with the INS was applied to estimate the mobile target positioning. Taking traditional Kalman filter(KF) as the framework, the system equation of KF was established by the INS and the observation equation of position errors was built by the WSN. Meanwhile, the observation equation of velocity errors was established by the velocity difference between the INS and WSN, then the covariance matrix of Kalman filter measurement noise was adjusted with fuzzy inference system(FIS), and the fuzzy adaptive Kalman filter(FAKF) based on the INS/WSN was proposed. The simulation results show that the FAKF method has better accuracy and robustness than KF and EKF methods and shows good adaptive capacity with time-varying system noise. Finally, experimental results further prove that FAKF has the fast convergence error, in comparison with KF and EKF methods.展开更多

Radio frequency identification(RFID) has been widely used in warehouse for item identifying. Meanwhile, RFID technology also has great potential for pallets localization which is underutilized in warehouse management. RFID-based checking-in and inventory systems have been applied in warehouse management by many enterprises. Localization approach is studied, which is compatible with existing RFID checking-in and inventory systems. A novel RFID localization approach is proposed for pallets checking-in. Phase variation of nearby tags was utilized to estimate the position of added pallets. A novel inventory localization approach combing angle of arrival(AOA) measurement and received signal strength(RSS) is also proposed for pallets inventory. Experiments were carried out using standard UHF passive RFID system. Experimental results show an acceptable localization accuracy which can satisfy the requirement of warehouse management.展开更多

In GPS observation equation, the unknown parameters can be separated into two parts: global parameters and local parameters. The global parameters include orbit, satellite clock and geodynamic parameters. The local parameters are site-occupation-specific, such as position, tropospheric delay, etc. The formulas of local parameters are firstly derived under the network-solution and the PPP-solution conditions respectively. If the weight matrix of global parameters in PPP-solution is small enough, the cofactor matrices of local parameters are the same as that in network-solution. Then, 16 daily solutions are obtained in both PPP mode and network mode. Three sites are selected to compare the solutions. The experimental results demonstrated that the difference between two solutions in coordinates and tropospheric delays are only few millimeters. This level of difference can be neglected so that the solutions from both PPP mode and network mode can be taken as the same in the actual application.展开更多

Meanwhile, the localization system of caissons and anchors of Taizhou Bridge is modeled in order to summarize the vibration mechanism of caissons under deep-water and jet-flow condition, and further pertinent vibration-control measures are proposed. However, existing UEMGISs mostly rely on the basic GIS too much to design the actual requirements of applications and managements in themselves, and the unavailability of sufficient fundamental data has retarded their improvement. In the design of a UEMGIS, the standardization of data classification should be taken into consideration to make the data exchangeable and shareable among its subsystems and within every subsystem, and the applicable error limits for input data should be defined in accordance with the user抯 required precision of data out. Data acquisition can be easy and quick if remote sensing, global positioning system (GPS) and other technologies are combined with GIS. Rapidly progressing information technologies have been giving a bright prospect for the melioration of UEMGIS that will have great potential and wide application in environmental conservation.

文摘The Longmenshan fault is a thrust fault which runs along the base of the Longmen Mountains in Siehuan province, southwestern China. The southern segment of the fault had two distinct responses to the Ms 8 Wenehuan and Ms 7 Lushan earthquakes. This study determines characteristics of the structural geology of the Longmenshan fault to evaluate how it influenced the two aforementioned earthquakes. This research was done within a Geo- information Technologies (GiT) environment based on multi-source remote sensing and crustal movement data extracted from the Global Positioning System (GPS). The spatial distribution of the southern segment of the Longmenshan fault zone was comprehensively analyzed to study both earthquakes. The study revealed that the Wenehuan and Lushan earthquakes occurred on two relatively independent faults. In addition, there was a nearly constant-velocity crustal movement zone between the two epicenters that probably had a compressive stress with slow motion. Furthermore, the central fault and a mountain back fault gradually merged from north to south. The Lushan earthquake of the Wenchuan earthquake. was not an affershock The research showed that fault zones within 30-50 km of State Highway 318 are intensive and complex. In addition, crustal movement velocity decreased rapidly, with a strong multi-directional shear zone. Thus, activity in that zone was likely stronger than in the northern part over the medium to long term.

文摘A comprehensive method of image classification was developed for monitoring land use dynamics in Chanthaburi Province of Tailand. RS (Remote Sensing), GIS (Geographical Information System), GPS (Global Positioning System) and ancillary data were combined by the method which adopts the main idea of classifying images by steps from decision tree method and the hybridized supervised and unsupervised classification. An integration of automatic image interpretation, ancillary materials and expert knowledge was realized. Two subscenes of Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper (TM) images of bands 3, 4 and 5 obtained on December 15, 1992, and January 17, 1999, were used for image processing and spatial data analysis in the study. The overall accuracy of the results of classification reached 90%, which was verified by field check.Results showed that shrimp farm land, urban and traffic land, barren land, bush and agricultural developing area increased in area, mangrove, paddy field, swamp and marsh land, orchard and plantation, and tropical grass land decreased, and the forest land kept almost stable. Ecological analysis on the land use changes showed that more attentions should be paid on the effect of land development on ecological environment in the future land planning and management.
文摘Location aware management and location based automation are fast upcoming technologies which are facilitated by availability of reliable, accurate, and cheap global positioning systems and location based services. This paper discusses the development of C++ classes, which may be used for development of software for location aware management and control, specifically in merchant shipping, so as to provide improved safety, increased automation, prevention of pollution and reducing the work burden of the crew. The GPS is used in conjunction with the regionally accessible nested global shorelines (RANGS) dataset for this purpose. The design of two main C++ classes named CShorelines and CGPSInput have been discussed. A control system mandatory on all oil-tankers above 150 GRT (and few other vessels) called ODMCS has been made location aware using the novel software developed and the results obtained have been critically examined and presented.

文摘Pure inertial navigation system(INS) has divergent localization errors after a long time. In order to compensate the disadvantage, wireless sensor network(WSN) associated with the INS was applied to estimate the mobile target positioning. Taking traditional Kalman filter(KF) as the framework, the system equation of KF was established by the INS and the observation equation of position errors was built by the WSN. Meanwhile, the observation equation of velocity errors was established by the velocity difference between the INS and WSN, then the covariance matrix of Kalman filter measurement noise was adjusted with fuzzy inference system(FIS), and the fuzzy adaptive Kalman filter(FAKF) based on the INS/WSN was proposed. The simulation results show that the FAKF method has better accuracy and robustness than KF and EKF methods and shows good adaptive capacity with time-varying system noise. Finally, experimental results further prove that FAKF has the fast convergence error, in comparison with KF and EKF methods.

文摘Warehouse operation has become a critical activity in supply chain. Position information of pallets is important in warehouse management which can enhance the efficiency of pallets picking and sortation. Radio frequency identification(RFID) has been widely used in warehouse for item identifying. Meanwhile, RFID technology also has great potential for pallets localization which is underutilized in warehouse management. RFID-based checking-in and inventory systems have been applied in warehouse management by many enterprises. Localization approach is studied, which is compatible with existing RFID checking-in and inventory systems. A novel RFID localization approach is proposed for pallets checking-in. Phase variation of nearby tags was utilized to estimate the position of added pallets. A novel inventory localization approach combing angle of arrival(AOA) measurement and received signal strength(RSS) is also proposed for pallets inventory. Experiments were carried out using standard UHF passive RFID system. Experimental results show an acceptable localization accuracy which can satisfy the requirement of warehouse management.
文摘ABSTRACT The multipath has long been considered a major error source in GPS applications .The characteristics 0f the GPS signal multipath effects are analyzed. based on which an experiment that considers the characteristics of dynamic deformation monitoring has been carried out. The solution results of observation data in two successive days are processed by a method,which combines the wavelet filtering and the differential correction betweentwo successive days. The research demonstrates that the multipath errors have stronger repeatability on successive days;after significantly mitigating the influence of multipath effects,the accuracy of three-dimensional positioning for GPS dynamic deformation monitoring can attain the mm level,an obvious accuracy improving particularly invertical component.The characteristics of GPS signal multipath,th eexperimental scheme and the qualitative and quantitative analysis of results are detailed.
文摘The technique of precise point positioning (PPP) is gradually becoming a popular method in GPS data-processing. In GPS observation equation, the unknown parameters can be separated into two parts: global parameters and local parameters. The global parameters include orbit, satellite clock and geodynamic parameters. The local parameters are site-occupation-specific, such as position, tropospheric delay, etc. The formulas of local parameters are firstly derived under the network-solution and the PPP-solution conditions respectively. If the weight matrix of global parameters in PPP-solution is small enough, the cofactor matrices of local parameters are the same as that in network-solution. Then, 16 daily solutions are obtained in both PPP mode and network mode. Three sites are selected to compare the solutions. The experimental results demonstrated that the difference between two solutions in coordinates and tropospheric delays are only few millimeters. This level of difference can be neglected so that the solutions from both PPP mode and network mode can be taken as the same in the actual application.

文摘According to the construction method of Taizhou Bridge, numerical simulation is conducted to analyze the vibration of caisson under wind and water flows to determine the main factors of the caisson vibration. Meanwhile, the localization system of caissons and anchors of Taizhou Bridge is modeled in order to summarize the vibration mechanism of caissons under deep-water and jet-flow condition, and further pertinent vibration-control measures are proposed. The obtained results are well verified in engineering practice, and consequently the safety risk of positioning the caisson is reduced.
