We are facing a true revolution that is based on the multiplication of knowledge and its corresponding applications, but also on the knowledge codification, memorization and knowledge transfer. The challenges that educational institutions, and the University in particular, are called to face are linked to the fact that classrooms or lecture halls are no longer the only places where one can follow study courses: anybody from anywhere, if he has the required technological equipment and the appropriate materials can build his own environment to carry on his own educational and self-learning process. This is the reason why we need to identify new models of university and psycho-pedagogic theories allowing for the development of new Internet-based teaching and learning models by carrying on research work. This paper describes the university model proposed by International Telematic University UN1NETTUNO, rapidly become acknowledged at an international level.展开更多

Critics charged Kuhn with an irrational and a relativistic position concerning theory choice, arguing he advocated a subjective instead of an objective approach to how scientists choose one theory over another and thereby undercut epistemic accounts for the generation of scientific knowledge. In response to critics Kuhn insisted that his approach, although subjective, was still rational in that the criteria----vomposed of epistemic values--determining theory choice operate both objectively and subjectively. Recent work in cognitive neuropsychology, particularly in the dual-process theory of cognition, supports Kuhn's notion of theory choice. In this paper, I initially discuss Kuhn's approach to theory choice, along with criticism of it and his response to the criticism, followed by an examination of the dual-process theory of cognition. I then explore the application of dual-process theory to Kuhn's notion of theory choice, especially in terms of a historical case study from the biomedical sciences. I finally discuss briefly the implications of the dual-process theory for contemporary philosophy of science.展开更多

For PS multi-layer microcavities, the different resonant peaks shift in the reflectivity spectrum of porous silicon microcavities(PSMs). The optical sensing model is set up by applying Bruggeman effective medium approximation theory, capillary condensation process and transfer matrix theoretically analytical method of one-dimensional photonic crystals. At the same time, comprehensively researched on are the sensing characteristics of PSMs which are exposed to give concentration organic vapors. At last, made is the theoretical simulation for sensing model of the PSMs in case of saturation by using computer numerical calculation, and found is the linearity relation between the refractive index of organic solvent and the peak-shift. At the same time deduced is the peak-shift as a function of the concentration of ethanol vapors.展开更多

Firstly, the definition and the criterion of the Lie-form invariance of the nonholonomic system of relative motion in event space is given. He believes this will be recognized and be attained by craft (sana'at, art). This was the common view in Islamic wisdom and philosophy in third and fourth Hijra centuries (9 & 10 CE). Researchers believe that the unique emphasis on parallelism between theoretical science and practical work is an important feature of Baghdad school and affected Islamic visual culture. Baghdad school had been affected by translation. In this way, Ikhwan-al-Safa, whom wrote the first encyclopedia of science in Islamic culture, had a very efficient role. They devised geometry into intellectual and sensual ones in the second part of their book, al-Rasa-el, and considered intellectual geometry as one of the middle philosophy and recognition and understanding factor for meaning of sensual geometry evidences. They insisted on basic situation of intellectual geometry in guidance of whom, want to learn intellectual things from sensual ones. They knew intellectual geometry as the factor for requiring skill in scientific crafts (sana'at), and sensual geometry as the factor of practical crafts, and made a vast relation between them. They also defined end of intellectual geometry understanding the base of all sciences and the main factor of wise, essence of self (nafs). Important feature of Ikhwan-al-Safa's wisdom is omitting the gap between theory and practice, making a vast relation between them, which affected the meaning of crafts in Islamic culture, and rendered a spiritual feature to crafts and arts. It seems this relation has created the concept of traditional arts, and integrating wisdom and crafts in Iranian-Islamic culture constructed all of the Fotowat-Nam e (book of Chivalry). This article reviews the concept, which affiliates theory and practice in third and fourth centuries and has a deep effect on recognition of art and craft in Islamic culture.展开更多

It uses adaptive knowledge based abstract framework which uses dynamic neural network framework along with fuzzy automata as Models of Learning, combining the two methodologies the authors develop a new framework termed as Fuzzy Automata based Neural Network (FANN). It highlights conversion of knowledge rule to fuzzy automata thereby generating a framework FANN. FANN consists of composite fuzzy automation divided into "Performance Evaluator" and "Feature Extraction" which takes the help of previously stored samples of similar situations. The authors have extended FANN for Urban Traffic Modeling.展开更多

Their learning processes and attitudes toward such innovation in their community were also examined. Thirty juveniles, 13-18 years of age in each Hangdong and Maerim districts, Chiang Mai province were employed in the study. Data collections were made through questionnaires, interview, test, group discussion and brainstorming. Analysis and evaluation were carried out with the applications of sufficient economy philosophy, constructivism theory and Torrance's future problem-solving instructional model. Results showed that the learning innovation of hyper-multimedia presented by the use of animation, video, scene and sound with related action script synchronization was considerably effective. With the application of sufficient economy philosophy, the result indicated that performance efficiency (El/E2) was 92.228/9.83 and the adolescents learning processes and attitudes were very good. These included purchasing of moderate ICT equipments, information screening for self-immunity and creative using of internet and ICT morally and ethically according to the computer laws. This independent learning system was properly designed for the juveniles with the right to retrieve the data or stop using at anytime. By using Torrance's approach and constructivism theory emphasizing on brainstorming techniques, it was noted that learning process was very well adopted by the adolescents with high satisfaction. They had good attitudes toward the extension of sufficient ICT cultural using in their community with emphasis on brotherly relationship. Related organizations should educate their parents to instruct the juveniles to use the internet properly and encourage people to be aware of ICT business in order to protect social and cultural problems encountered in the future.展开更多

The paper explores the reason why Kuhn's understanding of incommensurability seems to be necessary for the conception of knowledge in international relations: the concept of incommensurability can be considered typical as it is meant to indicate a conflict, of one form or another, between theories. And the discipline of international relations is more than a perfect ground for considering this concept when one is having in mind the high degree of polarized debate among rivalry theoretical schools (for interpreting and describing the identical phenomena) that is present from the very beginning of the discipline. Recalling the Kuhnian conception of science in paradigmatic view with an aim for understanding--international relations theory, the paper analyzes furthermore his rejection of the traditional dichotomy between “objectivisn”and "subjectivism."展开更多

This paper gives an overview of schema theory as part of a reader-centered, psycholinguistic processing model of EFL/ESL reading, in which we discuss how reading comprehension involves background knowledge that goes far beyond linguistic knowledge.
