In the present paper, the author expounds its theoretical basis from yin-yang theory, investigates its origin from the location of acupoints and ancient clinical application, and introduces its current application in clinical practice. In addition, the author lists 4 typical cases about treatment of hysteric convulsion, pregnant hypertension, child bed-wetting and leucorrhagia with opposite acupoints. Clinical practice demonstrates that opposite acupoints therapy is fewer in taking acupoints for one session of treatment, simple in operation, and good in the therapeutic effect for treatment of various diseases of different systems in the human body.展开更多

The observation has confirmed that acupuncture is a very effective method for treating this disease, especially to sclerosis patients in the early stage; and furthermore it can slow down the development of the pathological conditions of the patients. Thus it is an important therapeutic method worthy of the choice by European and American clinical doctors.展开更多

Along with following the laws of practice should be included basic acupuncture education requirements. The education or training requirements regarding regulations for practicing acupuncture among different professionals in the U.S. were investigated for this article. The facts are, in the U.S., licensed acupuncturists are required to attain a minimal of 1 905 educational or training hours via an accredited (such as the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, ACAOM) school or program before they apply for a license. The physician or medical acupuncturists are required to get a minimum of 300 educational hours in a board (American Board of Medical Acupuncture, ABMA) approved acupuncture training institution and have 500 cases of clinical acupuncture treatments to get certified in medical acupuncture. Some physical therapists (PTs) receive only 20-30 hours of acupuncture training in the form of dry needling in weekend continuing education classes and want to be able to practice acupuncture. For the sake of public safety, they should get a formal education in an accredited acupuncture school or program.展开更多

But, the electrophysiological techniques of the commonly used EEG and evoked potentials are still not sufficient to reveal the functional mechanism of acupuncture therapy. The recording technique of microelectrode array (MEA), a kind of electrophysiological technique originated from the overseas biological electrical signal monitoring technique, can be used to record multiple electrical signals of the nervous cells in vivo or in vitro, and maintain the accuracy and stability of the recorded information at the same time, which greatly enriches the means of electrophysiological study. This technique has been already applied in the basic study and clinical treatment abroad, but it is very seldom used in the study of acupuncture field. In order to guide the application of MEA in the research field of acupuncture science, a general survey about the application of MEA technique in vivo was done, and the present situation and prospects of the application of the technique in acupuncture science was briefly analyzed.展开更多

Afterward, moritatherapy was applied for psychological consultation for the patients. In the control group, compound sinomin and Phenoxybenzamine Hydrochloride Tablets were used orally. Methods: Eighty patients with perimenopause syndrome were randomized into two groups. Forty-two patients in the treatment group were intervened by acupuncture-moxibustion and psychotherapy, and the other 38 in the control group were treated by acupuncture-moxibustion only. The treatment was given once a day, 15 times constitute a treatment course. The therapeutic effects were evaluated after 3 treatment courses. Results: The total effective rate and the effective rate of the emotional state were both 97.6% in the treatment group, versus 89.5% and 73.7% in the control. The comparison of the total effective rate and the effective rate of the emotional state between the two groups both showed significant difference (P〈0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture-moxibusiton has better effect in treating perimenopause syndrome when combined with psychotherapy.展开更多

Methods: All 90 cases were randomly allocated into a treatment group (45 cases) and a control group (45 cases). Cases in the treatment group received 30 min of combined acupuncture and psychological desensitization therapy for each treatment, twice a week and 8 weeks in total, whereas cases in the control group received no treatment. After that, the anxiety score and state were observed. In addition, the mental state prior to and after cue-elicited heroin craving was evaluated. Results: The total and standard scores of anxiety in the treatment group were significantly reduced compared to the control group (P〈0.05), coupled with a significant reduction of heroin craving (P〈0.01). Conclusion: Combined acupuncture and psychological desensitization can alleviate anxiety and inhibit the short-term heroin craving.展开更多
