Glycerol dehydration to acrolein over a series of supported silicotungstic acid catalysts(SiWx‐Al/Zry)was investigated.Characterization results showed that the final catalyst had high thermal stability,a large pore d...Glycerol dehydration to acrolein over a series of supported silicotungstic acid catalysts(SiWx‐Al/Zry)was investigated.Characterization results showed that the final catalyst had high thermal stability,a large pore diameter,strong Lewis acidic sites,and a large specific surface area.X‐ray photoelectron survey spectra clearly showed peaks attributable to W(W4f=35.8eV),Al2O3(Al2p=74.9eV),and ZrO2(Zr3d=182.8eV).The highest acrolein selectivity achieved was87.3%at97%glycerol conversion over the SiW20‐Al/Zr10catalyst.The prepared catalysts were highly active and selective for acrolein formation even after40h because of the presence of high concentrations of Lewis acidic sites,which significantly reduced the amount of coke on the catalyst surface.Response surface methodology optimization showed that87.7%acrolein selectivity at97.0%glycerol conversion could be obtained under the following optimal reaction conditions:0.5wt%catalyst,reaction temperature300°C,and feed glycerol concentration10wt%.Evaluation of a mass‐transfer‐limited regime showed the absence of internal and external diffusions over pellets of diameter dP<20μm.These results show that glycerol dehydration over a strong Lewis acid catalyst is a promising method for acrolein production.展开更多
Rectal perforations due to glycerin enemas(GE) typically occur when the patient is in a seated or lordotic standing position.Once the perforation occurs and peritonitis results,death is usually inevitable.We describe ...Rectal perforations due to glycerin enemas(GE) typically occur when the patient is in a seated or lordotic standing position.Once the perforation occurs and peritonitis results,death is usually inevitable.We describe two cases of rectal perforation and fistula caused by a GE.An 88-year-old woman presented with a large rectal perforation and a fistula just after receiving a GE.Her case was further complicated by an abscess in the right rectal wall.The second patient was a 78-year-old woman who suffered from a rectovesical fistula after a GE.In both cases,we performed direct endoscopic abscess lavage with a saline solution and closed the fistula using an over-the-scope-clip(OTSC) procedure.These procedures resulted in dramatic improvement in both patients.Direct endoscopic lavage and OTSC closure are very useful for pararectal abscess lavage and fistula closure,respectively,in elderly patients who are in poor general condition.Our two cases are the first reports of the successful endoscopic closure of fistulae using double OTSCs after endoscopic lavage of the debris and an abscess of the rectum secondary to a GE.展开更多
The use of H2SO4‐,HCl‐,H3PO4‐,and CH3COOH‐activated montmorillonite(Mt)and WOx/H3PO4‐activated Mt as catalysts for the gas‐phase dehydration of glycerol was investigated.The WOx/H3PO4‐activated Mt catalysts wer...The use of H2SO4‐,HCl‐,H3PO4‐,and CH3COOH‐activated montmorillonite(Mt)and WOx/H3PO4‐activated Mt as catalysts for the gas‐phase dehydration of glycerol was investigated.The WOx/H3PO4‐activated Mt catalysts were prepared by an impregnation method using H3PO4‐activated Mt(Mt‐P)as the support.The catalysts were characterized using powder X‐ray diffraction,Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy,N2adsorption‐desorption,diffuse reflectance ultraviolet‐visible spectroscopy,temperature‐programmed desorption of NH3,and thermogravimetric analysis.The acid activation of Mt and WOx loaded on Mt‐P affected the strength and number of acid sites arising from H+exchange,the leaching of octahedral Al3+cations from Mt octahedral sheets,and the types of WOx(2.7≤x≤3)species(i.e.,isolated WO4/WO6‐containing clusters,two‐dimensional[WO6]polytungstates,or three‐dimensional WO3crystals).The strong acid sites were weakened,and the weak and medium acid sites were strengthened when the W loading on Mt‐P was12wt%(12%W/Mt‐P).The12%W/Mt‐P catalyst showed the highest catalytic activity.It gave a glycerol conversion of89.6%and an acrolein selectivity of81.8%at320°C.Coke deposition on the surface of the catalyst led to deactivation.展开更多

The as-prepar...The purpose of this study is to increase acrolein yield and capability of coking resistance in the reaction of glycerol dehydration to acrolein by assembling metal phosphate supported on HZSM-5 catalyst. The as-prepared catalysts were characterized by XRD, SEM, EDS, BET, NH_3-TPD, CO_2-TPD and Py-IR techniques. It was found that metal phosphate species were incorporated into the porous structure of HZSM-5 zeolites, thus influencing the surface and textural physico-chemical properties of the supporters. The alkaline-treated HZSM-5 catalyst promoted the dispersion of phosphate species on the carriers. Moreover, the amount of strong acidity was tremendously improved by adding the different metal hydrophosphates and the catalysts show high catalytic activity. In this present work, the Sn1/4 H_2PO_4/HZSM-5 catalyst exhibited good performance in the catalytic activity and coking resistant ability, which resulted in a high acrolein yield of 83% initially and acrolein yield of 68% after 30 h. The acidity, especially the ratio of strong to weak acid, plays an important role in promoting acrolein yield and stability simultaneously.展开更多

Few syndromes are associated with PIL; Hennek...A number of disorders have been described to cause protein losing enteropathy (PLE) in children. Primary intestinal lymphangiectasia (PIL) is one mechanism leading to PLE. Few syndromes are associated with PIL; Hennekam syndrome (HS) is one of them. The principal treatment for PIL is a high protein, low fat diet with medium chain triglycerides supplementation. Supportive therapy includes albumin infusion. Few publications have supported the use of octreotide to diminish protein loss and minimize hypoalbuminemia seen in PIL. There are no publications on the treatment of PIL with octreotide in patients with HS. We report two children with HS and PLE in which we used octreotide to decrease intestinal protein loss. In one patient, octreotide increased serum albumin to an acceptable level without further need for albumin infusions. The other patient responded more dramatically with near normal serum albumin levels and cessation of albumin infusions. In achieving a good response to octreotide in both patients, we add to the publications supporting the use of octreotide in PIL and suggest that octreotide should be tried in patients with PIL secondary to HS. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case report on the use of octreotide in HS-associated PIL.展开更多

The effects of solution p H value, temperature and adsorption time were investigated. The maximum adsorption capacity of Ni(II) on PGMA-IDA/CFs is 0.923 mmol·L-1· g-1at pH 5.2 and 50 °C. Kinetic data indicate that the adsorption process matches the pseudo-second-order model and Elovich kinetic model. Thermodynamic data suggest that the adsorption process is endothermic spontaneous reaction.展开更多

In this study, the bone morphogenetic protein receptor, type II(BMPR2), E1 A binding protein p300(EP300), transforming growth factor-β2(TGFβ2), and tumor necrosis factor, and alpha-induced protein 3(TNFAIP3) gene expression patterns in B-cell malignancies were studied. Methods: The relative expression levels of BMPR2, EP300, TGFβ2, and TNFAIP3 mRNA in B-lymphoma cell lines, myeloid cell lines, as well as in cells from healthy volunteers, were determined by real-time quantitative reverse transcriptpolymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR) with SYBR Green Dye. Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase(GAPDH) was used as reference. Results: The expression level of TGFβ2 mRNA in B-lymphoma cell lines was significantly higher than those in the cells from the healthy control(P<0.05). However, the expression level of TNFAIP3 mRNA in B-malignant cells was significantly lower than that of the healthy control(P<0.05). The expression levels of BMPR2 and EP300 mRNA showed no significant difference between B-malignant cell lines and the healthy group(P>0.05). In B-lymphoma cell lines, correlation analyses revealed that the expression of BMPR2 and TNFAIP3(r=0.882, P=0.04) had significant positive relation. The expression levels of BMPR2, EP300, and TNFAIP3 mRNA in cell lines from myeloid leukemia were significantly lower than those in the cells from the healthy control(P<0.05). The expression levels of TGFβ2 mRNA showed no significant difference between myeloid leukemia cell lines and the healthy control or B-malignant cell lines(P>0.05). The expression levels of BMPR2, EP300, and TNFAIP3 mRNA in B-lymphoma cells were significantly higher than those of the myeloid leukemia cells(P<0.05).Conclusion: Different expression patterns of BMPR2, EP300, TGFβ2, and TNFAIP3 genes in B-lymphoma cells exist.展开更多

In this work, the hydrolyzed feather keratin (HFK) was extracted from the chicken feather using a cost-effective method of alkali-extraction and acid-precipitation by applying urea and sodium sulfide. The aim was development and characterization of the eco-friendly films based on the HFK with variable glycerol contents by a thermoplastic process. The thermal analysis showed that high temperature and high pres- sure improved the compatibility between the glycerol and the HFI( molecules. Also it was shown that the addi- tion of water is necessary in the hot-pressing process of films, The FT-IR analysis indicated that the formation of the new hydrogen bonds between HFK and glycerol. By increasing the glycerol content, the film tensile strength (orb ) decreases from 10,5 MPa to 5.7 MPa and the solubility increases from 15.3% to 20.9%, while the elongation at break (εb) achieves the maximum value of 63,8% for the film with 35% glycerol. The swelling was just below 16.9% at 25 ℃ for 24 h, suggesting a good stability of the films in water. The water vapor permeability (WVP) varied between 3.02 x 10 ^10g. m 2. s-1 . pa-1 and 4.11 x 10-10g · m-2 · s-1 · Pa-1 for the films with 20%and 40% glycerol, respectively. The HFK film was uniform, translucent and tough, which could be used in packaging and agricultural field.展开更多
A two-year on-farm study was carried out at Eglime in the moist savanna (MS) and Ouake in the dry savanna (DS) of Benin to evaluate the contribution of inoculation of dual-purpose soybean varieties to grain yield ...A two-year on-farm study was carried out at Eglime in the moist savanna (MS) and Ouake in the dry savanna (DS) of Benin to evaluate the contribution of inoculation of dual-purpose soybean varieties to grain yield of upland NERICA rice fertilized with low N level. In 2005, four dual-purpose, promiscuous soybean varieties (cv. TGx1440-IE; TG×1448-2E; TG×1019-2EB; and TG×1844-18E), and a popular improved variety (cv. Jupiter) were sown in 12 farmer fields with and without Bradyrhizobium japonicum inoculation. There was also land which was left fallow that acted as the control. In 2006, upland interspecific rice (NERICA 1) was sown in all the plots and supplied with 15 kg N haL. Dry matter yield, N accumulation, and net N-balance were significantly enhanced by over 40% with inoculation of cv. TG× 1844-18E than non-inoculation in the DS in comparison to other cultivars. There were no significant effects of inoculation of previous soybean cultivars on soybean grain yield and on the succeeding NERICA rice yield. Averaged over inoculation, previous cv. TG× 1019-2EB plots supplied with only 15 kg N hal gave the highest grain yield, more than twice the yield of control plots in the DS, possibly because of significant production of higher tillers, panicles and harvest index than the other cultivars; and it could be recommended for upland rice-based system for NERICA production.展开更多

Films were synthesized by adding the stoichiometric amount of ethylenediamine (EDA) and benzoyl proxide (BPO) to SSO solutions in ethanol, dip-coating over glass substrates, and curing using an appropriate thermal cycle. Intrinsic values of hardness and elastic modulus were determined with the average values in “plateau region” from “four-layer” explanation. The approach for building the EPON 862/DETDA structures, cross-linking, and equilibration of the systems, and the evaluation of the models are presented. The mechanical properties such as Young's and shear moduli, Poisson ratio, and yields strength as well as thermal properties such as glass transition temperature and coefficient of thermal expansion are predicted. The results are in close agreement with both experimental data and simulated results in literature.展开更多

The PS emulsion synthesized through soap-free emulsion polymerization was swollen by toluene, and then the mixture of second monomers was added under polymerization condition. So a thin shell of poly(styrene-glycidyl methacrylate) cross-linked by triethylene glycol diacrylate was formed around the swollen PS particle. The bowl-shaped particles were obtained after the collapsing of the thin shell when the toluene emanated from the particles, but the shapes were effected by the degrees of cross-linking. The shape of the particles was observed by SEM. The release behavior of solvent from the particles was examined by TG.展开更多

A-64, A-56,1-62, AP-10, AP-56, AP-64 and KR-104. To understand the effect of Cl anions, HCl-impregnated sup- ports have been investigated in the dehydration reaction of glycerol at 375 ℃. For comparison, various H-zeolites were also examined. It was found that the glycerol conversion over the solid acid catalysts was strongly dependent on their acidity and surface area. And the relationship between the catalytic activity and the acidity of the catalysts was discussed. The outstanding properties of Pt/γ-Al2O3 catalyst systems for the dehydration of glycerol were revealed. Pt/γ-Al2O3 catalyst (AP-64) showed the highest catalytic activity after 50 h of reaction with an acrolein selectivity of 65% at a conversion of glycerol of 90%. Based on these results, catalysts based on γ-Al2O3 appear to be most promising for gas phase dehydration of glycerol.展开更多

The expression levels of BMPR2, EP300, and TNFAIP3 mRNA in cell lines from myeloid leukemia were significantly lower than those in the cells from the healthy control(P<0.05). The expression levels of TGFβ2 mRNA showed no significant difference between myeloid leukemia cell lines and the healthy control or B-malignant cell lines(P>0.05). The expression levels of BMPR2, EP300, and TNFAIP3 mRNA in B-lymphoma cells were significantly higher than those of the myeloid leukemia cells(P<0.05).Conclusion: Different expression patterns of BMPR2, EP300, TGFβ2, and TNFAIP3 genes in B-lymphoma cells exist.

文摘Feather, as a by-product of the poultry industry, has long been treated as a solid waste, which causes environ- mental and economic problems. In this work, the hydrolyzed feather keratin (HFK) was extracted from the chicken feather using a cost-effective method of alkali-extraction and acid-precipitation by applying urea and sodium sulfide. The aim was development and characterization of the eco-friendly films based on the HFK with variable glycerol contents by a thermoplastic process. The thermal analysis showed that high temperature and high pres- sure improved the compatibility between the glycerol and the HFI( molecules. Also it was shown that the addi- tion of water is necessary in the hot-pressing process of films, The FT-IR analysis indicated that the formation of the new hydrogen bonds between HFK and glycerol. By increasing the glycerol content, the film tensile strength (orb ) decreases from 10,5 MPa to 5.7 MPa and the solubility increases from 15.3% to 20.9%, while the elongation at break (εb) achieves the maximum value of 63,8% for the film with 35% glycerol. The swelling was just below 16.9% at 25 ℃ for 24 h, suggesting a good stability of the films in water. The water vapor permeability (WVP) varied between 3.02 x 10 ^10g. m 2. s-1 . pa-1 and 4.11 x 10-10g · m-2 · s-1 · Pa-1 for the films with 20%and 40% glycerol, respectively. The HFK film was uniform, translucent and tough, which could be used in packaging and agricultural field.
文摘A two-year on-farm study was carried out at Eglime in the moist savanna (MS) and Ouake in the dry savanna (DS) of Benin to evaluate the contribution of inoculation of dual-purpose soybean varieties to grain yield of upland NERICA rice fertilized with low N level. In 2005, four dual-purpose, promiscuous soybean varieties (cv. TGx1440-IE; TG×1448-2E; TG×1019-2EB; and TG×1844-18E), and a popular improved variety (cv. Jupiter) were sown in 12 farmer fields with and without Bradyrhizobium japonicum inoculation. There was also land which was left fallow that acted as the control. In 2006, upland interspecific rice (NERICA 1) was sown in all the plots and supplied with 15 kg N haL. Dry matter yield, N accumulation, and net N-balance were significantly enhanced by over 40% with inoculation of cv. TG× 1844-18E than non-inoculation in the DS in comparison to other cultivars. There were no significant effects of inoculation of previous soybean cultivars on soybean grain yield and on the succeeding NERICA rice yield. Averaged over inoculation, previous cv. TG× 1019-2EB plots supplied with only 15 kg N hal gave the highest grain yield, more than twice the yield of control plots in the DS, possibly because of significant production of higher tillers, panicles and harvest index than the other cultivars; and it could be recommended for upland rice-based system for NERICA production.
文摘This study is to analyze the influence of the modifier, 5~25 wt % titanium tetrabutoxide (TBO), on the hardness and elastic modulus of the films based on SSO deriving from hydrolytic condensation of (3-glycidoxypropyl)trimethoxysilane (GPMS) and vinyltrimethoxysilane (VMS), by the continuous stiffness measurement (CSM) technique of an instrumented-indentation testing (IIT) device. Films were synthesized by adding the stoichiometric amount of ethylenediamine (EDA) and benzoyl proxide (BPO) to SSO solutions in ethanol, dip-coating over glass substrates, and curing using an appropriate thermal cycle. Intrinsic values of hardness and elastic modulus were determined with the average values in “plateau region” from “four-layer” explanation. And the brittle index of the modified coating systems was analyzed.
文摘The reactive force field was used to study the molecular dynamics of cross-linked EPON 862 (diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-F) and DETDA (diethylene toluene diamine) system in order to predict its thermo-mechanical behavior under different loading conditions. The approach for building the EPON 862/DETDA structures, cross-linking, and equilibration of the systems, and the evaluation of the models are presented. The mechanical properties such as Young's and shear moduli, Poisson ratio, and yields strength as well as thermal properties such as glass transition temperature and coefficient of thermal expansion are predicted. The results are in close agreement with both experimental data and simulated results in literature.
文摘Poly(styrene-glycidyl methacrylate) particles having bowl-shaped hollow structures were synthesized by swollen seed emulsion polymerization. The PS emulsion synthesized through soap-free emulsion polymerization was swollen by toluene, and then the mixture of second monomers was added under polymerization condition. So a thin shell of poly(styrene-glycidyl methacrylate) cross-linked by triethylene glycol diacrylate was formed around the swollen PS particle. The bowl-shaped particles were obtained after the collapsing of the thin shell when the toluene emanated from the particles, but the shapes were effected by the degrees of cross-linking. The shape of the particles was observed by SEM. The release behavior of solvent from the particles was examined by TG.

文摘Gas-phase dehydration of glycerol to produce acmlein was investigated over commercial catalysts based on γ-Al2O3, viz. A-64, A-56,1-62, AP-10, AP-56, AP-64 and KR-104. To understand the effect of Cl anions, HCl-impregnated sup- ports have been investigated in the dehydration reaction of glycerol at 375 ℃. For comparison, various H-zeolites were also examined. It was found that the glycerol conversion over the solid acid catalysts was strongly dependent on their acidity and surface area. And the relationship between the catalytic activity and the acidity of the catalysts was discussed. The outstanding properties of Pt/γ-Al2O3 catalyst systems for the dehydration of glycerol were revealed. Pt/γ-Al2O3 catalyst (AP-64) showed the highest catalytic activity after 50 h of reaction with an acrolein selectivity of 65% at a conversion of glycerol of 90%. Based on these results, catalysts based on γ-Al2O3 appear to be most promising for gas phase dehydration of glycerol.
