After providing clarification on the meaning of true transmedia co...This paper looks at how brand development and marketing communication rules are useful, if not essential tools in the transmedia storytelling process. After providing clarification on the meaning of true transmedia content, the author suggests that this fi)rm of narrative necessitates a variety of techniques that are beyond those found in the traditional skill set of the linear storyteller. The paper introduces a multi-layered model to help provide a structure for the development of transmedia narrative. It also outlines various stages of development and their specific characteristics. These include the establishment of a core message, introductory, development, and mature narrative phases. It draws extensive]Ly from a case study in transmedia storytelling co-produced by the author. The project, entitled Geo Freakz is rooted in the family sport of geocaching and was initially released on a trial basis, in Canada. The project includes webisodes, multiplayer on line games, TV programming, and live events. Collaborative partners are drawn from several media modalities. Findings from the case to date are used to illustrate the model presented in the paper as well as outline challenges in transmedia storytelling yet to be dealt with.展开更多

The high speed gas-jet discharged from the nozzle slot impinges on the strip, and at th...In the continuous hot-dip galvanizing process, the gas-jet wiping is used to control the coating thickness of moving steel strip. The high speed gas-jet discharged from the nozzle slot impinges on the strip, and at this moment, wipes the liquid coating layer dragged by a moving strip. The coating thickness is generally influenced on the flow characteristics of wiping gas-jet such as the impinging pressure distribution, pressure gradient and shear stress distribution on the surface of strip. The flow characteristics of wiping gas-jet mentioned above depends upon considerably both the process operating conditions such as the nozzle pressure, nozzle-to-strip distance and line speed, and the geometry of gas-jet wiping apparatus such as the height of nozzle slot. In the present study, the effect of the geometry of nozzle on the coating thickness is investigated with the help of a computational fluid dynamics method. The height of nozzle slot is varied in the range of 0.6mm to 1.7mm. A finite volume method (FVM) is employed to solve two-dimensional, steady, compressible Navier-Stokes equations. Based upon the results obtained, the effect of the height of nozzle slot in the gas-jet wiping process is discussed in detail. The computational results show that for a given standoff distance between the nozzle to the strip, the effective height of nozzle slot exists in achieving thinner coating thickness.展开更多
A sodium zinc thiostannate Na2ZnSn2S6 is reported with its interesting structural features and property characteristics. It crystallizes in the polar space group Fdd2 (No. 43) with the unit cell parameters ofa=12.94...A sodium zinc thiostannate Na2ZnSn2S6 is reported with its interesting structural features and property characteristics. It crystallizes in the polar space group Fdd2 (No. 43) with the unit cell parameters ofa=12.945(3) A, b=23.556(5) A, c=7.2774(15)/k and Z=8. In its structure, Zn-centered penta-tetrahedra [ZnSn4S15]Z2- clusters arrange regularly along the diagonals of ab and ac planes to form a 3D tunnel structure with charge-balanced Na+ cations located inside the tunnels. Note that SnS4 tetrahedra connect with each other by sharing comers to form infinite ∞[SnS3]n chains that are rarely found in known alkali-thiostannates. Remarkably, NazZnSnzS6 exhibits the good NLO performances, such as large SHG response (4 times that of AgGaS2 at 55-88 μm under the 2.09 μm radiation), wide infrared (IR) transmission region (0.35-25 μm) and relatively high laser damage threshold (77.5 MW/cm2, -2 times that of AgGaS2). Theoretical calculations have also been performed to investigate the structure-property relationship and the results indicate that the origin of NLO effect can be attributed to the penta-tetrahedra [ZnSn4S15]12- clusters.展开更多
IceCube has reported the detection of a diffuse TeV-PeV neutrino emission, for which the flat spectrum radio quasars (FSRQs) have been proposed to be the candidate sources. Here we assume that the neutrino flux from...IceCube has reported the detection of a diffuse TeV-PeV neutrino emission, for which the flat spectrum radio quasars (FSRQs) have been proposed to be the candidate sources. Here we assume that the neutrino flux from FSRQs is proportional to their gamma-ray ones, and obtain the gamma-ray/neutrino flux ratio by the diffuse gamma-ray flux from Fermi-LAT measurement of FSRQs and the diffuse neutrino flux detected by IceCube. We apply this ratio to individual FSRQs and hence predict their neutrino flux. We find that a large fraction of candidate FSRQs from the northern sky in the IceCube point source search has predicted neutrino flux above the IceCube upper limit; and for the sample of stacking search for neutrinos by IceCube, the predicted stacked flux is even larger than the upper limit of stacked flux by orders of magnitude. Therefore the IceCube limit from stacking searches, combined with the Fermi-LAT observations, already rejects FSRQs as the main sources of IceCube-detected diffuse neutrinos: FSRQs can only account for 〈 10% 〈 4%) of the IceCube-detected diffuse neutrino flux, according to the stacking searches from the whole (northern) sky. The derived small neutrino/gamma-ray flux ratio also implies that the gamma-ray emission from FSRQs cannot be produced by the secondary le^tons and photons from the Non nroduction nrocesses.
