For long Willa Cather's pioneer works have gained great critical acclaim and have been interpreted from different perspectives such as mythicism, romanticism, and feminism. This paper, interpreting Willa C ather' s classical pioneer works of the three periods from the 1920s to the 1930s-My A ntonia ( 1918), A Lost Lady (1923), and "Neighbor Rosicky" (1930), is devoted to making a full exploration into the evolution of her ecological thoughts from an ecofeminist perspective. In Willa Cather's three pioneer works of different creative stages, she deliberately constructs three eco-worlds as a standard of ecological harmony. In her three eco-worlds, Willa Cather not only investigates the relationship between man and nature, but also involves androcentrism, patriarchy, and other ecofeminist topics. Willa Cather's ecological views have undergone changes in her representation of three successive phrases. To interpret Willa Cather's pioneer works from the perspective of ecofeminism can provide a deeper comprehension about her works and her ecological thoughts for the world.展开更多
Phytoremediation is a relatively new approach in remediating ecosystems contaminated by ecotoxic pollutants such as herbicides or heavy metals and especially cadmium (Cd). Certain indicators of phytoremediation, as ...Phytoremediation is a relatively new approach in remediating ecosystems contaminated by ecotoxic pollutants such as herbicides or heavy metals and especially cadmium (Cd). Certain indicators of phytoremediation, as plant growth, tolerance to Cd, and uptake, transfer factor (TF) and percent removal of Cd, were studied for 11 crops and 8 weed species in soil with varying levels of Cd (0-240 mg Cd kg" soil) under controlled environment. Cadmium accumulated mainly in roots (51%-86%, depending on the species), while a 14%-49% was transferred to shoots (except for four species) the concentration being positively related to Cd level in soil. Highest concentration in the above ground plant part was measured in sugarbeets (41-101 mg Cd kg-1 DW) followed by Bromus sterilis (75), Eruca sativa (32-82), Cichorium intibus (35-80), and maize (60 mg Cd kgl). Based on the results it is concluded that sugarbeets, maize, C. intibus, B. sterilis, E. sativa, Apium graveolens, and Vicia sativa seem to have a potential in remediating Cd contaminated soils.展开更多

It addresses the evolution in the conception of the artistic fact related to science, and attempts to define the spectator's new role. The present document will look into the science, an and technology triad as a means to communicate issues our planet is facing through scientific dissemination focusing on the bio-art avenue for collaboration. Finally, we will outline our concept of an as a revolutionary and thoughtful form poured through our works as artistic collective expressions.展开更多

The results showed that diversity centers of rice cultivar were observed in Southwest Yunnan, South Yunnan and Southeast Yunnan, which may be related to the local culture of rice production and warm, humid climate. For the diversity center in South Yunnan, culture of rice production of Dai and Hani people may play important roles. The diversity center in Southwest Yunnan may relate to the culture of rice production of Dai, Jingpo and Lahu people, and for the diversity center in Southeast Yunnan, Miao, Yao and Zhuang people's culture in rice production can not be underestimated. Traditional culture promoted the cultivation of rice cultivars, and high diversity of rice cultivars facilitate the preservation and continuation of the traditional culture as well.展开更多
