However it's necessary to research more on specific patterns of tourism development in these ethnic minority areas. This paper studies Wulong Stockade in Beichuan County in Sichuan Province and examines the distinctive experience of the local Qiang community about developing local tourism resources and the local funding of the development. It notes how the introduction of new re-afforestation laws of 1999 affected the traditional, agriculture-based economy and how a member of the communio: was a key motivator in initiating tourism as a new economic resource. It has also explored changes in the economic conditions of Qiang peasants since tourism began in Wulong Stockade, where local incomes have increased considerably. This paper focuses on a characteristic Qiang area in the mountains of western Sichuan, demonstrates the necessity and feasibility of community tourism development, and uggests that other ethnic minority mountain villages in rural areas draw lessons from Wulong Stockade's experience.展开更多

Therefore, what the natural tourism projects should first be "the economic value of the natural resources". However, after the man-made planning and being given the humanity, they have the "economic value of the human resources". In the construction of the future path of the development, we should also have the dynamic study on the subjective preferences of the Chinese consumers. The change of these subjective preferences directly results from the change of the levels of their own income.展开更多

The main users spend most of their time to leisure, and to the enjoyment of the urban environment, so people must be attentive to the changing needs of visitors and be willing to transform their environment based on them. These changes must be environmentally sustainable and based on concepts of economic, environmental and social sustainability, people need to be prepared for the continuous recycling of the existence, and are always seeking to increase the energy efficiency. The rehabilitation in edificatory and urban terms must go hand in hand in this task if people want to achieve the objectives of environmental sustainability, combining the lives of residents with visitors, especially in poor energetic resource areas where the external dependency is very high, that is the case of the Canary Islands, where the scarcity of energy and water make necessary in a very small and densely populated area, the efficient use of resources and thus the reuse and transformation of what exists. The rehabilitation process of the poor quality buildings built in the 1970s has started, so people must not miss this new opportunity to improve environment to make it more sustainable.展开更多

China's urbanization is a subject of great interest, one that has attracted the attention of people throughout the world. Whereas a handful of studies have assessed various aspects of urbanization(urban expansion, urban transition, urban-rural relationships, the spatial changes in urban and rural areas, motivations for sustaining rural places), little is known of how to retain the indigenous character of rural areas in terms of landscape design. In this paper, the authors set out to contribute to this significant gap. They used Chengdu City and Five Golden Flowers(FGF) village in Chengdu's suburbs as case studies. A detailed description of the application of Ebenezer Howard's Garden City vision in Chengdu City was made; the Garden City vision was the key premise for FGF's ecotourism industry and successful conservation of landscapes with indigenous character. An analysis of the post-ecotourism landscape in FGF was accomplished using a typology method. Finally a set of landscape design methods for retaining indigenous character was proposed. The main conclusion of this paper was as follows: rural ecotourism can contribute to maintaining the indigenous character of rapidly urbanizing rural landscapes with the use of appropriate inheritance and renovation ways. The findings here may provide useful information for decision making by urban planners and policy-makers.展开更多
