A simulation model was developed for canopy photosynthesis and dry matter accumulation in oilseed rape (Brassica napus L.) based on the ecophysiological processes and using a three-layer radiation balance scheme for calculating the radiation interception and absorption by the layers of flowers, pods, and leaves within the canopy. Gaussian integration method was used to calculate photosynthesis of the pod and leaf layers, and the daily total canopy photosynthesis was determined by the sum of photosynthesis from the two layers of green organs. The effects of physiological age, temperature, nitrogen, and water deficit on maximum photosynthetic rate were quantified. Maintenance and growth respiration were estimated to determine net photosynthetic production. Partition index of the shoot in relation to physiological development time was used to calculate shoot dry matter from plant biomass and shoot biomass loss because of freezing was quantified by temperature effectiveness. Testing of the model for dynamic dry matter accumulation through field experiments of different genotypes, sowing dates, and nitrogen levels showed good fit between the observed and simulated data, with an average root mean square error of 10.9% for shoot dry matter. Thus, the present model appears to be reliable for the prediction of photosynthetic production in oilseed rape.展开更多

By expressing constraint priorities as propositional logics and by transforming the propositional logics into inequalities, the infeasibility and constraint prioritization issues are solved in the MPC. Constraints with higher priorities are met first, and then these with lower priorities are satisfied as much as possible. This new approach is illustrated in the control of a heavy oil fractionator-Shell column. The overall control performance has been significantly improved through the infeasibility and control priorities handling.展开更多

In this paper, the progress in the investigation of asphaltene adsorption from the aspects of adsorption model and adsorption behavior is reviewed. Asphaltene of adsorption model include the Langmuir, Freundlich, Langmuir-Freundlich, Rcdlich-Pctcrson, BET adsorption isothcrm. The adsorption behavior of asphaltene was characterized by a variety of structure-probing methods such as N:-adsorption, X-ray diffraction (XRD), small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) measurements, and FT-IR spectroscopy. To understand better the adsorption progress of petroleum, asphaltene must understand the whole adsorption behavior of asphaltene.展开更多

On the base of this model, we provide two applications in the oilfield production. Firstly, we simulated the functional relationships between the petrophysical and electrical properties of the rock by neural networks model, and studied oil saturation. Under the precision of data is confirmed, this method can reduce the number of experiments. Secondly, we simulated the relationships between investment and income by the neural networks model, and studied invest saturation point and income growth rate. It is very significant to guide the investment decision. The research result shows that the model is suitable for the modeling and identification of nonlinear systems due to the great fit characteristic of neural network and very fast convergence speed of LM algorithm.展开更多

The mathematical formulation for the inversion requires an appropriate modeling description of both seismic wave propagation and reservoir fluid flow. The inversion requires the minimization of an objective function which is the weighted sum of model misfits for both geophysical and production data. While the complete automation of cooperative inversion may be unrealistic or intractable, geophysical data can provide useful information for enhancing heavy oil production. A methodology is given to demonstrate possible cooperative inversion application in heavy oil reservoirs.展开更多

The corresponding thermodynamic model of a waxy crude oil pipeline transportation system was built, and then, the excess entropy production expression was proposed. Furthermore, the stability criterion model of the pipeline transportation system was established on the basis of Lyapounov stability theory. Taking the oil pipeline in Daqing oilfield as an example, based on the four parameters of out-station temperature, out-station pressure, flow rate and water content, the stable and unstable regions of the system were divided, and the formation mechanisms of the two different regions were analyzed. The experimental loop device of wax deposition rate was designed, and then, the wax deposition rate under the four parameters was measured. The results showed that the stable region of the wax deposition rate fluctuation was basically in accordance with the stability region analyzed by the criterion model established in this paper, which proved that the stability criterion model was feasible for analyzing the stability of the waxy crude oil pipeline transportation process.展开更多
